Holy cow, that was a HIKE! I was warned this trail was more than a "moderate" hike, so in my mind I was ready. The rest of my body didn't get the memo.

Helpful hints:
-- arrive early. Parking lot was full by 9:30 a.m.
-- use a walking stick
-- start slow, finish strong
-- stop and smell the wild roses
-- carry two bottles of water
-- pack a lunch (and carry out your trash, please)
-- make sure your batteries for cellphone or camera are fully charged

I will make this hike again.

Awesome hike with great views throughout. Definitely a leg burner though, so be prepared to get a good workout in!

One of my favorite hikes. Did this one on mother's day. Short but a little tough mountain. The view is amazing at the top!!

Beautiful views at Sky Pond today! Overall the trail is more moderate, but the waterfall climb is probably what qualifies it as difficult. Beware if you look at the map at the trailhead and use it to calculate mileage it's actually 9.8 miles round trip.

A beautiful hike and yes come prepared with plenty of water and sun screen. Took the fire trail cut off on the way back and saved 0.5 miles

We had a great day on Longs today. Started 2am, summited at 7:10am, arrived back to the car at 11:40. I drank all 3 liters of water I packed, and was glad my partner had a water purifier. Note that in addition to the restrooms at the trailhead, there are two more chances to visit the privy on the trail (at Chasm Junction and the Boulder Field). Bring your own toilet paper, just in case.

My favorite hike I've ever done. very challenging but doable. loved the rock scramble at the very end up to the lake. my first ever rock scramble. once you get to the boulder field the views will take your breathe away. pictures can never do justice to how amazing it really is. app is a little off, the total round trip distance is about 8.4 miles from the Long's peak trailhead

Beautiful trail! Enjoyed being able to see and hear the creek throughout the hike. The falls and cascades impressive. Moose sighting was a bonus.

So beautiful! The most beautiful and the most difficult trail I’ve ever done. It was an all day experience so wear your hiking boots, bring sunscreen, insect repellent, and a Camelback of water. SO worth it! The entire trail is beautiful but it’s worth it to keep going until sky pond!
My husband and I are moderately fit but not acclimated to the altitude and it took us 8 hours, we took quite a few breaks to take pictures and enjoy the scenery.

Get ready for a leg burner. Lots of stairs to climb up to the top. The lake was super busy which I thought odd for a Thursday mid-day hike. Take the Lumpy Ridge trail on the way down. Good scenery and less stairs. Lots of sun so come prepared.

Amazing trail with small waterfalls alongside while hiking to a huge waterfall. I was there in mid July and it was hot, the water was cold and refreshing, kept me cool the whole time.

If you like stairs you’ll love this hike, with that we flew down this thing on the way back. My phone read that this one was 66 flights total. A lot of sun on this hike when you start getting closer to the top. The lake isn’t as rewarding as some of the big ones, but it’s still beautiful. I’d do this one again for the workout not so much the destination.

Four stars only because we had to pick leeches off the kids’ feet after they ate lunch with them dangling in the lake. We found a “natural ac” spot coming from a little cave entrance around a bend about half way up- nice place to cool off. We got there around 11a and found a few parking spots open. The rangers are super friendly, we saw them on the way up and down. One took a family photo for us

First time on this trail. $25 to get into the park but totally worth it. I read previous comments about getting to the trailhead early... do it! I made it to the parking lot around 730am, and it was 3/4 full. Luckily I got a spot and didn’t have to make the trek like others later in the day. Trail is mostly shaded. Moderate incline with some rocky terrain. Go to the waterfalls. It’s a great place to have a snack.

So beautiful! Worth the mini rock climb to get to the top!

okay just got this app but I hike very often and want to warn people of this crazy deee that wonders around and scared me and some friends while sleeping and would follow us around. so FYI. it was two years ago but he is getting more famous or she idk

Absolutely beautiful. Had a bit of bouldering to reach the peak.

Gorgeous hike and one of my all time new favorites. Highly recommend. However, realize it is 5 miles to the summit and not 4 as advertised. Not a problem and WELL worth it. Go early.

Arrived to the trailhead around quarter of 2, but parked at about 2 because of how busy the Glacier Gorge trailhead lot gets. Made it up to Sky Pond around 3:30, motivated by the threat of lightning, but the thunder that had developed by this point cleared up about ten minutes in, and the sun came out, making this one of the most gorgeous hikes I've done. Each hanging lake is worth a hike if its own! The trail is very nicely carved nearly the entire way up except for a small waterfall scramble, which makes it great for trail running down. After spending about an hour at the pond I jogged back down to the parking lot for quarter of 6. Will easily be coming back to show friends this one!

We did this fabulous trail today. We had to use Bear Lake car park as Glacier Gorge was full at 6:40 am. The walk is excellent and was a great experience. It was more crowded than expected but was interesting in every section. As late 50s Aussies we found it okay in terms of difficulty. The only harder sections were the steps leading up to the final waterfall - and the climb back down the waterfall. The views and vistas were well worth the effort. Start early, take your time, use bug spray and enjoy the beautiful hanging lakes!

Amazing alpine hike with spectacular mountain views. Ended up seeing multiple elk along the trail and big horns near the summit! First time seeing big horn in the park. Do start early to avoid the crowds and the afternoon showers. Also you’re exposed for the majority of the trek so bring appropriate gear/sunscreen. Definitely would do again!

Beautiful trail with picturesque settings. One of my favorite hikes.

Hard work! Sore feet to be expected

Absolutely beautiful! Got there at 6:30 and had to park at Bear Lake. There is a friendly marmot at the Lake of Glass and on the way back down a herd of Elk with their babies were crossing the Loch. Truly a remarkable trail. Be prepared for elevation gains and pack bug spray!!

Such a beautiful hike- easily one of my favorites!

Fantastic hike! Leave early to avoid heat and crowds. We camped at Longs Peak Campground and the next morning walked to the Chasm/Longs Peak Trailhead. Started at 7:30am and meandered the way up. Traffic was OK. Many of the Longs Peak hikers had begun a few hours earlier than us. Had fun scrambling at the end just before the lake. We stayed at the lake watching climbers, eating lunch, and relaxing then began the trek down around 1pm and it was really, really crowded. Cool weather at the lake. Hot on the way down above the tree line, cooler once in the trees. Beautiful views all along the trail! We stopped so many times to take in the scenery. Really great enjoyable hike! July 2018.

Great hike for views over Estes. The lake was a little disappointing. Definitely start early to avoid the crowds.

Hiked Ida in June and there was a lot of snow under the treeline. Took the group I was with about 2 hours to get out of the treeline. Once we were out, the hike was beautiful. The wildlife is abundant and the views are awesome. Ida is a little more tough than moderate I would say because she has a lot of false summits and it's an uphill climb most of the way. You feel like you're close, then there is more. Well worth it though, just be ready for a good challenge.

Awesome hike. Climbing the waterfall was probably my favorite part. I felt like we were discovering a new land as silly as that sounds. My brother and I loved it. Great hike.
