Gorgeous trails. Saying that, nothing is marked and you could easily get lost. Follow the GPS trail on AllTrails. I would not recommend this trail for small children.

Nice leisurely bike ride. Easy to follow and wide trail. Don't expect any mind-blowing views. Would be a great trail for trail running.

Nice trail. Rocky. Dogs are allowed with leash. Great view of Jamestown bridge. The beach section (0.25 mile section) was full of shells which was hard on the pups paws. Last mile of trail is narrow, but overall nice trail.

Not much of a hike, a pretty cool abandon fort. Bring a flashlight for the inside areas. If you spook easy bring a friend (with s flashlight). Bring camera too. Enjoy!

Trail was not clear when we reached the dirt road. I agree that “ easy” rating would be an issue for anyone not in shape for climbing.

After you find the right trail, the journey is great and the destiny is beautiful. As long as you follow the trail and the markers and don’t get off track, it’s a great time and a good workout. Steep inclines, loose rocks, and a beautiful view from the top. Wife approved trail ✔️

the trails definitely need to be cleaned up and i thought there would be a view of the lake but you just pass it

Great walk. the south end of it does get slightly tricky so wear good sneakers. I started from the middle went north then did the entire length of the trail. it took me about 3 hours. but I did stop at the University there and walked the campus which was maybe 30 mins. I would definitely do it again

Beautiful views on the water. Friendly trail to walk.

Hiked with my dog and had a great time. It was a bit wet, since we had that storm the other day, great none the less.

This loop was more of an Easy Hike than Moderate personally, lots of VERY easy terrain, there were no gains or descents that required even paying attention to footing, the grade transitions were all smooth and easily navigated with not even an adjustment in walking speed required. Yes the terrain can be rocky and there are a number of roots to contend with, but neither of these were problematic at all. Rocks and roots were all less than maybe 6 inches tall at max for the most part, no scrambling, didn't even need trekking poles. We got lapped by a trailrunner a few times, and we saw children, elderly and clearly novice hikers having zero issues with the terrain itself.

Trail markings at some of the junctions and diversions were a little lacking and did require consultuing the map, but in 4.4+ miles, the 4 or 5 times this was required wasn't that much of a big deal.

All main / mapped trails were open. Only a very small handful of offshoot and unnamed trail loops were closed for habitat recovery as of 09/23/2018.

Would have been a 5 star "Easy" hike if it weren't for the few issues with trail markers not being placed at all the junctions/diversions.

awesome trail for dogs!

Beautiful views and perfect to go with the family.

Still my favorite in the area,

Beautiful!

nicer trail in area due to its length. saw deer in woods! poorly marked in areas. dont like the street ending or beginning depending on which direction you go. I always go ptepared to spend the night just in case.

Its a beautiful trail and a decent hike, but I couldnt get over the traffic im the background, logging roads, garbage truck went by on a dirt road. All that noise ruined the secluded feel for me.

I'd give this 2.5 stars. I know i'm going against the grain with my opinion, but unless you have young children or you're looking for a long easy-moderate hike I would look for another trail. The first loop was ok nice with foundations, streams, and foot bridges to admire. The second loop I spent 50% of my time trying to find the trail markers which were buried by down trees or completely overgrown sections of the trail and the other 50% slipping and sliding over rocks while swatting away swarms of bugs. There was nothing interesting to see in the second part of the loop, and I really just wanted to be done with the trail as it just seemed to drag on and on.
Also, just to note, there are signs saying No Dogs or Bikers, in case you wanted to bring either.

So peaceful

The only thing that was not closed for restoration was the WWII memorial but it was very nice. Trails are well marked, though we did get turned around a few times. The terrain gets to be very rocky with lots of tree roots which can start to get annoying but otherwise, it’s decent.

Love it! Parking can be a bit of a hassle for busy days but a wonderful area!

I love this path! It’s my go to when I want to walk outside. There can be a lot of people but the ocean views make it worth it.

Great hike! Take water if a hot day, and maybe call an uber driver to take you back to start.

One of my favorite hikes, I prefer the trails further out away from the lake, more of a hike lots of climbing , all the way around top of the ridges

Really easy 3-mile loop with several spots for shore access. I enjoy taking a book out on the rocks and enjoying the summer breeze. Great for birding.

good terrain, got lost a couple times, thanks to all trails GPS all good, went off loop to pond ,definitely worth it,definitely recomended

It was amazing! It’s perfect for running and hiking. The view is breathtaking.

first time on this trail today. Great hike, really fast trail.

My husband and I hiked here on a hot Labor Day, and really enjoyed it! As others have mentioned, lots of rocks, plenty of up and downs, some interesting landmarks (cairns and table rock) and plenty of bugs. We came prepared with bug spray and happy that we did. I underestimated our water needs given it was so hot so won't do that again!

It was a well maintained path with plenty and of wild critters. Our dog had a great time too.
