Looked like it would be fun to swim in the warmer months. As a trail it's just ok, not that scenic and the waterfall is quite small.

Cute short hike to a little waterfall with an emerald pool. Parked at the visitor center and it’s an unmaintained trail, just follow the river!

Lots of fun! We started at the visitor center, went to all three waterfalls, then returned to the visitor center. Our GPS says we hiked 6.17miles, but that could be off due to being in a canyon. We started late around 2:30pm, if you aren’t a speedy hiker I wouldn’t recommend starting after 12pm in October. You can make it to the second waterfall without getting too deep (below waist), but we were chest deep to get to the third falls Be careful and move at a comfortable pace. I slipped and got my leg caught between two rocks, which almost made us have to turn around.

HikingGreat!Scramble

Really loved this hike. Brought my eight year old sold and BIL. Left from Chimney Rock. Found the river about 1.5 miles in and then followed the river from there. Hit the top two waterfalls around mile 3. Scrabbled down each of them and did not get too wet. But then cross the narrow section and water was up to chest. Very cold but only that deep for a 10 seconds. Overall we loved the hike, only saw two other groups the whole time. Left around nine am and it only took 2.5 hours. Will certainly be back!!!

Fun walk up the stream. Not too cold. Waterfall was too hard for us to climb up (kids 8 and 11), but great trail.

hiked sept 2. creek is dried up in most spots , a trickle in other spots, no water fall and the swimming hole was deep puddle, regardless, nice hike along the creek bed and in between a small canyon.

Epic hike! Just a short hike brings you to an amazing swimming hole. We spent hours jumping off the rocks and sliding down the waterfall. Definitely do this! If we had more time and energy we would have continued to the second and third waterfalls.

favorite trail in CRNP! park across from the visitor center, walk under the bridge in the creek bed, and head straight up till you reach the water fall. water was NOT falling when we went but we still had a blast swimming in the pool it left. definitely wear water shoes or sandals and dryfit clothes so you can swim.

Great hike on a hot day! Easy hike to carry young kids. Hiked with kids ages 15, 13, 8, 2, 6mo. Plenty of water in the river and at the falls. Lots of people at the falls swimming and jumping.

We walked 1.3 miles in following the dry creek bed and never found a waterfall or any water period. This was on June 21. Not sure what we missed here as reviews say it’s only 1.8 out and back and you hit water about 8/10 of a mile in. We did not find that to be true and we were on course. Maybe follow the specific recording of someone who says they got to water. Other than that it is flat and easy other than trekking through sand/rock mix.

Easy, wet, awesome & so much fun. Took 3 kids - 12, 8 & almost 6 - and it was a breeze. Walked in water the whole time - mostly by choice and strolled all the way to the waterfall & swimming hole. Want to make this one an annual trip for sure.

Needed an easy trail since my hiking partner was recovering from a bum knee. Starts behind visitor center . Great hike thru a canyon creek to a small waterfall and large swimming hole about 8/10 a mile. Can scramble up the modest waterfall ( 6 foot) by going up left side to access rest of hike—or start at chimney rock and hike down! Perfect on a day in the mid 80’s with shade from canyon walls and a great breeze!

Perfect hike for kids. You can either stick to the trail and cross the river a few times or just walk up the river which the kids preferred. youngest walking was 4 and a 3 year old was carried on and off.

This trail is mostly in the creek, but you can sometimes walk along the side trails. It would be impossible not to get your feet wet though. It’s nice to do in the middle of the day since the water is refreshing and it’s partially shaded. Be careful not to jump if you climb up the waterfall. We saw a teen do it and he broke his leg because the water is too shallow.

Was pretty bummed with this one. My son and I made it all the way to the river and turned as the trail suggested. We kept going probably a good half mile more and never found the waterfall. The river was iced over in parts of it and was solid enough to walk over pretty easily. The views through the canyon were pretty and it’s definitely more of an easy walk than a hike. We even followed the instructions of other hikers, but never came upon it. It was nice just wanted to see the waterfall. Maybe we’ll try it again in the spring.

Nice hike for those of us that are a little overweight, past our prime and not in great physical condition. Take a hiking stick and enjoy! Don't bother trying to keep your shoes dry, the back and forth across the narrow creek is part of the fun. Have fun!

It was a nice easy walk. The “water fall” was a little lack luster.... I was expecting a big 30 foot fall and this was only 4 feet maybe? Don’t get me wrong it was pretty and the water was refreshing just not what I expected.
