Serene redwood-lined trail; very easy to hike with just a bit of an uphill climb at the start. Highly recommended!

One of the most beautiful hikes I have ever done. The god rays created by sunlight piercing through the fog and the redwood tree branches was incredible and I captured some screensaver worthy photographs. The beach was also spectacular although a bit cold. The trail is steep but not too bad. One of the best hikes in Redwood NP and SPs in my opinion.

Amazing. Late fall and winter are my favorite times to hike this gem.

Good hike and we made it down to the ocean where we saw a seal swimming! Hike up is a good workout

Fabulous walk through the coastal woods of Little River. Worth the trip! We started at the coast (free parking) then walked through the campground to the trailhead. After walking to the first Y in the trail, we chose to hike the 1.2 miles to the Pygmy Forest, this incline was pretty steep. After viewing the Pygmy Forest - which is too cool! - we walked the 2.3 miles back which was much more gradual. There are 20 beautiful bridges to cross over creek.

Super fun, wholly worth the whole hike. If the last part with most of the gain is too much for a person; 3 miles to the creek and back is much less strenuous then the last 2 miles up and back

This is a gorgeous hike but it is definitely difficult, not moderate. Going down is pretty easy but the hike back up is very steep and it’s entirely up hill. I definitely wouldn’t take young children on this. Well worth it for the gorgeous open views of the Redwoods and finishing at the ocean.

Wow! One of the best hikes in the area. This trail is actually a 4.2 mile out and back, with the latter 1.4 miles quite strenuous, but the views and magnificent terrain and ancient redwoods make it worth it. Make sure you go down to the beach at the end to ponder nature’s beauty at water’s edge.

Beautiful redwoods hike that ends at the ocean. Sign says trail ends at bridge but I crossed it with no problems. If you don't feel comfortable using the bridge, just to the side of it you can go down into the creek and up the other side.

We did the Fern trail going in ad returned on the North trail. The water fall is amazing and worth the hike. The North trail is challenging at first but then is pretty flat and down hill after all the up parts. Very green and we had a great time

Awesome hike

Just an amazing hike with every step a picture perfect opportunity. Very family friendly but like others have mentioned, water shoes or waterproof hiking boots are a good idea. Don’t go in a hurry, and enjoy natures artwork.

Short easy hike, not closed anymore.

Great hike. There are some hills so would not recommend for true beginner, but relatively easy overall and the scenery is continuously breathtaking. Cool breezes are a plus, too.

A great hike with amazing views. DO NOT go on this hike with the expectation of seeing the lighthouse unless you are there the first Saturday of the month. That is when they open the gate and access to the lighthouse is better.

This is one of my absolute favorite hikes. The solitude of this redwood atmosphere with rain or fog is stunning. Hiking down you won't think about the return climb in store for you, which can be difficult for some folks I'm sure. Look for rabbits among the ferns, salamanders, wild irises, and succulent hens and chicks in the cliff-face when you get to the beach. If you walk the beach at low tide and explore the tide pools among the rocks, starfish, anemones and other creatures await, and I never want to leave.

The highlight of our trip to Del Norte. Best when covered in fog, it's pretty mystical with it's towering Redwoods.

We found the cove to be an added bonus, but if you are short of time or if the elevation is off-putting, I'd recommend doing the first half in the fog down to the trail sign then climbing up again.

The trade off we found is that when the trees are covered in fog the cove is too or when sunny both are.

Also be aware of any scrambling paths, we went up one to save some time and it didn't catch up to the path again so it was a fun 20 minute detour.

coming from Ohio, it was a game changer

This was a great “break up the drive” loop we took with our kids while driving down the 199. It is kid-friendly, lots of parking, with great views of the ocean.

Great trail. lots of elevation changes. Wet in the winter but that only makes it more interesting

My wife and I hiked up trail #1 and then #8 and #9. Overall we hiked about 6.5 miles. Very beautiful and relaxing hike, some of the trail was what I would consider a moderate slope, but nothing too hard. I pushed our 2 year old daughter in a jogging stroller the entire time and there was some uphill portions that were a little strenuous but overall great hike. Saw a lot of joggers, bikers, and hikers. Worth the trip to Arcata to hike!

So beautiful! A must see!

Beautiful, peaceful, easy hike! Well worth the drive back to the trailhead. My husband and I did this hike at 0900 and were the only ones around. Wear waterproof shoes/sandals as your feet will get wet. They filmed a scene from The Lost World Jurassic Park here if that excites you as well.

My wife and I enjoyed this trail. The trail was being renovated about 3 miles in so our hike turned into a 6.5 mile hike. I love walking among the California Redwoods. I reserve the 5 star rating for something that blows me away but I highly recommend this trail to anyone in the area of Arcadia California.

Beautiful trail you wouldn’t know was there unless you were searching out a place for a peaceful hike.

Rigorous, especially for kids. But worth the walk for the views and the adventure. Parts of the trail are slippery and the way back is a climb, but we all enjoyed it.

Gorgeous hike! The mist in the redwoods is amazing! Bridge says it’s not in use but I had a party of 6 and we all crossed and made it to the ocean just fine. Great day trip. We did the hike with a 13 and 2 year old very doable for all abilities!

Love this spot!!!
