SnowshoeingIcyScrambleSnow

2/28/21 Sunday 42 degrees cloudy. The snow covered trail is packed down. Some spots have ice. I used my snowshoes, tracks (grippers) & poles would be adequate. Around .5 miles it gets steep. There’s a lot of switchbacks and some level parts. There’s an abandoned cabin to your left as you turn right on one of the switchbacks. There’s a trail to check it out. The parking area is very small, a few cars along the road. The trail is a straight up & back, marked with red trail markers. Lots of people & dogs on the trail, skiers and a sled great workout, beautiful view at the top.

Crampons/snowshoes and poles highly recommended. First time--nice workout, moderately steep in places, beautiful vista. We got lost at the end briefly because the trail keeps going where you're supposed to turn right. We ended up underneath a group of low hanging pine tree branches. But we found our way back quickly.

HikingGreat!IcySnow

Definitely need microspikes or snowshoes for this as the trail was quite slippery due to crusty snow and some ice (hiked 2/18/21). Great trail with amazing payoff for the effort. The actual parking lot is very small, but can park on side of road.

Short easy hike (a bit steep but it’s very short) with great payoff: view east of Lake George and the Sagamore. Lovely.

I would call this moderate with the snow! We went when it 20 degrees and it warms up quick when you go up. The parking is a little tight but we squeezed in my Ford Focus. Worth the view, it is exactly 2 miles long total! Took us 40 minutes to go up to the Summit.

SnowshoeingGreat!Snow

I’ve done this trail several times but this was my first sunrise hike. The fresh snow made for a winter wonderland. I used snowshoes but you could also use micro spikes. The trail was easy to follow and leads to a huge payoff! Watching the sun come up over Lake George was spectacular and a great way to enjoy my morning coffee. I spent an hour at the summit and had it all to myself!

Spikes were helpful. So beyond overcrowded. Will not be back on a weekend

Gorgeous trail among the pines. Glad we had our poles, although not necessary. The view at the top is spectacular. Definitely worth every breath!

Beautiful trail to do in the winter. View at top is spectacular and it’s not too difficult on the incline. Recommend bringing poles or spikes as some parts of the trail can be icy/slippery

Nice easy winter hike. Didn’t need snowshoes only used crampons. Wide trail and a little muddy in places but overall a nice hike with great views from the summit.

HikingGreat!IcyMuddySnow

Quick hike, even with the new re-routing of the trail. Got there early to avoid the crowd, only started seeing people on the way down. There was some ice on the way up so it's best to wear spikes (tis the season), but most of it was melted on the descent! Beautiful and quiet, definitely hike this one when the tourists have gone for the season.
