Hardly anyone on this trail which is hard to find close to SF. Great trail to do with doggos but no water for them anywhere at this time of year so carry extra! A couple options along the way to leave the ridge and meet route 1 if you want a shorter hike. No ticks and a couple cows that minded their own business.

Amazing views! We actually took the Coast Trail onto a beach that had a few caves. We hung out in a cave while watching the waves, whales, and seals. Beautiful hike the entire way to the beach. Definitely worth it. And definitely going again. Was an amazing date location!

Beautiful hike! Done this twice now. Just take lotsa water in summer

Lots of ticks! Also there were a couple animals wandering around looking at my dog as meat. Decided not to complete it

This trail is one of my favorites not to much hills, nice smooth stroller accessible all the way to Kelham beach To access the beach stay to the right when you meet the coast trail and go down when you get to the giant tree. you can't miss it.
Bring extra water. it's long but not too difficult.
Have fun

The Sky trail is beautiful but very overgrown with poison oak in many places so be cautious and wear long pants. If you want to hike down to the beach from Sky Camp but avoid poison oak, I'd recommend using the Fire Lane Trail. It's a little less scenic but less overgrown so you can avoid the poison oak.

Beautiful hike and - at leas on a Friday afternoon - not very crowded. Saw lots of wildlife - Tule elk, deer, seals, quail, etc. Note that at lower tides you can walk all the way down to the point, though it will add about two miles to the hike (one mile each way); well worth it for the views, the seals, the kelp forests, and the almost perfectly circular boulders shaped by the tides.

Great hike for novice hikers or people who want to get outdoors as the terrain is relatively flat.

One of the better beach hikes. We arrived at 7:00am. We had the entire beach to our self's. Completely isolated early morning walk. We only hiked 3.5 miles / 1-1/2hrs but still nice as hiking in the sand is a bit slower. Lots of wildlife, birds, two seals watching us from the water, crabs. Dog friendly. We left around 9:30 and went to breakfast at the Station House Cafe near Point Reyes Station. Great morning!

I did a variation of this hike and made it a loop at the end by taking the coastal trail to the glen trail back to the center of bear valley trail. Gorgeous views and some points on the trail were quite picturesque, I recall an opening on the coastal trail towards the glen trail between thick overgrown sections that was beautiful. It had a small tree offering just enough shade for a break but surrounded by perfectly yellow tall dry grass. Recommend pants for these overgrown areas if you take the loop I'm describing. I wore shorts and regret it, no clear poison oak rashes yet but who knows. Enjoy!

Wear pants and long sleeves because you’ll walk through tall grass for an hour. Beautiful trail with wildflowers.

Beautiful, dog-friendly out and back with some mellow rolling hills and a nice picnic bench 2 miles in to stop for lunch.

Loved everything about this trail towards the beach!

Nice hike, especially if you add on a stop at Sculptured Beach as some other reviewers have recommended. A few suggestions if you go on this hike: the trail is overgrown in many places with a lot of poison oak in the area, so I would highly recommend wearing pants; the Fire Lane Trail is quite exposed, so it is worth doing that portion of the hike in a cooler part of the day if it is warm/sunny (as it was when we hiked it).

Was difficult as a beginning backpacker but awesome ocean views. Hiked to Wildcat camp. Would be a very nice day hike. Trail was crowded during the mid day with other people going to the falls. Elevation change was tough at times with a pack. Very buggy, got eaten up by bugs on the trail.

Very nice hike but very crowded. We went back hiking on the beach to the fall. The climb back to the trail at the fall is a little be tricky.

Ticks. I’d not do the second half starting Woodward trail. It was all tall grasses and scrubs. Tons of caterpillars and ticks along that trails for almost two hours. I got bit by a wood tick I think. Hopefully no disease transmission. No rash or fever so far t+12. The first half was beautiful. That’s the only part I would recommend.

Very enjoyable walk. Nice mix if Sun and shade. Plenty of parking in the main parking area, even on Memorial Day. A lot of hikes to choose from in this area, so there should be something for everyone. Of course picking one that has a goal of getting you to the shoreline such as this is definitely a nice goal to set!

Nice beach walk. Beautiful wildflowers. Not too windy. The beach just by the trail head was very crowded but thinned out quickly as we walked along.

Relatively flat trail that is largely in the shade and follows a creek for most of the way. Eventually opens up at the ocean to great views of the cliffs along the coast and rocks in the water. Headed out during Memorial Day weekend and was hiking by 8:30. Hardly anyone on the trail until we made our way back towards the trailhead and the trail was filled with people. Best to arrive early.

Incredibly beautiful

beautiful and totally doable in half a day!

Came for a day trip with the family and a couple girlfriends. Was just beautiful. We walked down the entire beach. Found ship ruins and hiked up the sand dunes. Was a wonderful day will go back for sure.

Great trail for on-leash dog hiking! We walked out 5 miles and back 5 miles from the north end. It was open and exposed the whole time (no walking in forested areas—that’s farther south) with a wide trail and beautiful views of the hills and the nearby bay. There is a point 1.2 miles from the trailhead where it’s unclear whether you should go through a gate and continue left or walk left on the current side of the fence — go through the gate!! The misleading path is a cattle path. Speaking of which — the cows can be extremely *friendly*, thinking you are bringing them food. If you have dogs (especially heelers) make sure you’re following the leash rule for their safety. It can be INCREDIBLY windy, so make sure you dress accordingly. I plan on going back and trying an out-and-back from the southern end.

Very scenic, views ranging from rain forest, to Northern forests. Also pretty easy, great to do it early in the morning. We saw deer as we got there early.

nice spot to head to the coast. I'd love to camp here!

perfect length for a morning hike. We took the coast trail way, and at the beach went down to the water to hike that
.5 Mile portion with the rich sound of waves. brought our lunch to eat at the camp picnic table, and use the outhouse conveniently located before the last 2 miles back up fire trail to Laguna trail parking lot.
