Easy trail. Lots of pines. Not much else.

A gorgeous place to visit but they don't allow dogs any more. Which is kind of ridiculous. So only two stars.

Mid October. Colors changing. Very pretty. Had our boys in carry packs. Some fun terrain and rocky on the backside of the loop. Perfect first hike of the trip.

I'm giving this trail and all within Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument 5 stars simply because this park is a hidden gem within the Pikes Peak region of Colorado. For the most part all the trails are easy and interconnect so visitors can hike the entire park in a day if desired. Visit the old homestead and keep a look out for the elk heard that frequently travels within the monument.

Was very frustrated today by the people walking all over the formations despite the many signs that ask you not to. If you can't show some respect for Earth's beauty, please don't bother to come visit it. You're slowly destroying these beautiful features, and now all the rest of us have to look at the footprints you left and the erosion you caused rather than the natural beauty of the Paint Mines.

We found it very difficult to find the trail and were almost attacked by a Rottweiler off leash. Do not recommend.

Awesome historical hike around some old gold mines and passes by an active mine you can see production on. The trail description says stroller and ADA compatible but I disagree especially with the wash out on the trail... with young kids I highly advise hiking carriers. Overall a really great time and am glad we went!

Short trail, mostly covered by stairs. There are some decent views up at the top with scenic viewpoints. There was little water when I was there, so there wasn't much action from the cascades.

Nice historical hike. Benches along the way were a nice touch. We liked the tunnel of Aspen trees you walk through at one point and it was the right time of year to see the colors changing. We took our 4 kids ages newborn, 2, 4, and 6. It wasn't an easy hike for most of them. I do think a jogging stroller would do fine on the terrain though. We would do that next time.

Fun little hike! Wasn’t expecting the stairs, so keep that in mind, it is a very man developed trail and there are a lot of steps, some are slippery because of gravel. Brought my 2 & 4 YOs and my 12 YO dog, and they loved it, we made it all the way to the top! We had a blast sliding down the “slippery” rocks at the top and enjoying the beautiful views!

Easy walk, reservoir is very low, leaves are barely starting to change. Beautiful day!

Great views, close proximity to information post.

Beautiful views and easy hike. We took our 82 year old Mother along and she handled it great!

wouldn’t drive more than an hour for this but it definitely worth a see. It’s beautiful. Come at sunset or sunrise. We got there for 6 but 7 was better. Perfect for kids of any age... keep them off the formations though it’s really fragile. It’s honestly a walk not a hike but I managed to pushed out 3 miles using the trail. Spent 2 hours in the park. There are 3 parking lots. Park in the 2nd one

Beautiful trail with lots of wildflowers. This is a best kept secret because we didn’t see a single person while we were hiking on a weekend.
This is a peaceful hike in a valley and forest area. Prepare to be mostly alone with your thoughts and nature.

Like everyone else has said it looks very underwhelming at first but once you get to the formations it's definitely a cool place to see. The park is small and it's more walking then hiking. Nice place to stop for a couple hours.

Easy going trail perfect for a quick and close hike. All skill levels, nice pond to sit by, trails clearly marked and well maintained.

It’s pretty cool. The park is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Don’t need to go again, but glad I got to see it.

This loop is great for burning calories while enjoying the forest. I recommend it for anyone who wants to get in some good and quick exercise walking or running. I think it would be aa good hike for folks who may be getting back into shape or are visiting and not used to the altitude. Remnants of past fires are still visible, but the area is regenerating nicely.

Love this trail. Today up past the road crossing about 2 miles in I came across a ton of turkey feathers across the trail, and a freshly ripped off wing. I’d guess a mountain lion got it, so be aware! Some lost looking wild turkey chicks were wandering about in the meadow beyond, I think the predator must have gotten their mom just shortly before I arrived (had dog and pepper spray along and didn’t see any other signs). In general this is a beautiful and fairly easy hike, but it was a reminder that wild nature still exists within a short drive from town.

Easy trail with some cool history. There is an active mine nearby so it was interesting to see big equipment moving around and then looking back at 100+ yr old mines.

This is an easy hike, with a gradual descent toward the reservoir.

Take your time, bring the kids, and enjoy the stream that feeds the reservoir. The reservoir is low right now, but gives you a unique and interesting perspective.

Beautiful hike, easy peasy, fast-running stream, and fun for kids. Trail is easy to follow and low reservoir offers unique perspective. Enjoy!

Easy, wide trail and extremely easy to follow. Lots of places for great photos. It’s sad to see how low the reservoir is.
Road to get out there is very wash boarded, so it’s a rough ride, however, it’s a lovely drive.
