Easy hiking. At first, I was underwhelmed, seeing mostly whitish rock formations. Later, we came to beautiful gold, burnt orange, and pinkish red “painted rocks”. Definitely worth a stop off the main road for a nice walk. It is a little hot and dry back among the rocks...take a bottle of water.

I was underwhelmed at first, a easy trail and decent views. Then, I got to the main rock area!!! It is gorgeous! I spent probably two hours wandering around in the formation, could have spent more. Super pretty, bring a camera for sure. Definitely an easy trail, could wear sandals.

Very pleasant trail. Go early as north part of trail is exposed.

Nice, easy trail to hike with kids.

Never saw a waterfall, but it was a great hike. The kids enjoyed dipping their feet in the water and looking for crawfish. Yes, crawfish. Good length for a family and enough shade to take the edge off the heat.

Thought the loop was nice and easy, saw lots of rabbits and a jackrabbit. The paint mines were a blast to explore.

I’m an avid hiker and considered this more of a walk or nice stroll. Took our time and spent a lot of time at the main paint mines and was there about 2 hours.

I love this whole place. I usually like to enter on the north side as it is much less crowded than the East. I've done all the trails and recommend them for all skill levels.

My two friends and I took 9 children (ages 8 months to 13 years) on this trail. If your children are under 3, I would recommend a stroller or carrier of some kind. I would also recommend sunscreen. We did not make it all the way to the reservoir, but stopped just before it at an inlet that had a slower wading area where the kids had a blast. The water was cold, the rocks were fun to skip, and we stayed there about 45 min to an hour. The problems: trash. I always bring a trash bag with me and by the end of our time there, I had collected a bunch of fishing line and broken glass. ☹️ It wasn't enough for me to worry about my kids playing in the water, but I would highly recommend everyone keeps their sandals or water shoes on while wading. Overall, this was a fun way to spend 3-4 hours and my kids fell asleep within 5 minutes of our trip home. We will be back!

Nice that it was less traffic than the main Garden of the Gods path - we still got some beautiful views, and some shade on the path. The app was very handy - we could easily take the smaller trails without getting lost.

we hiked the L trail to the K trail making a loop. I'm pregnant and haven't hiked since last year. but I reached my limit and had to get out. this was an easy hike with short uphill portions towards the end that were just enough to make me breath a bit heavier but not wind me. There was plenty of shade and resting places and amazing views. We even saw lizards and snakes and many birds. there were spots by the creek with large boulders to cross over but they were absolutely manageable. my 6 and 8 year old handled the hike very well. we saw many other children and people of all ages managing fine. next time we will start on the K trail go view the dam and then back track to the l trail.

My mom came to visit, I brought her here. She LOVED it. Beautiful rock formations! I recommend parking in the first parking lot and walking to the formations that way. You don't really realize what you're going to be walking up on!

beautiful formations, lovely colors...saw baby birds in a nest, rabbits, butterflies and lots of multicolored birds....so very beautiful if you take some of the side trails to get closer to the formations....we had 3 kids....but kept them from climbing...preserving the beauty for a long time to come....a must see.....

beautiful geological formations, so many awful people.

Very beautiful. Pretty creek along trail and plenty of gorgeous flora surrounding trail. Reservoir is less exciting as it is much lower than it once was and just plain, but good for fishing and other recreations. Also saw a bunch of butterflies and birds. Even saw a little bear on our way back. Would come back again.

Easy, well maintained. Very peaceful. I was alone 99% of the time. Be aware storms roll in late afternoon almost everyday and the temperatures can change quickly (it dropped 35 degrees from the beginning the of my hike to the end). I did this as a part of a longer hike (Geologic->Hornbeck->Boulder->Hans->Sawmill).

Easy hike through a meadow and the woods. There is a per person fee of 7.00, so check into a pass of some type.

Easy hike, but amazing views. Feels like a different world. Very windy so be prepared. Best times for photo ops are sunrise and sunset.

Nice, easy trail with the dogs.

Good tourist trail. Gets better and more adventurous with steep trail, rock, and gravel if you continue past the ending where the stream begins to thicken and people begin to sit on the rocks. Have to be careful going past that part though as the gravel is very loose, going down especially. Worth it for the views if not doing any other trails in the area. My biggest complaint is that there is no big sign saying don’t drink the water due to giardia. We didn’t see the small notice on the chalkboard windows of the visitor center until after the hike and after our dog had refreshed herself with spring water. Now she has diarrhea :(

Very cool rock formations! This trail is super easy but so so scenic! Climb up to the overlook too!

About 55 minutes from garden of the Gods. I would certainly consider this a diamond in the rough. You arrive in the middle of no where off a gravel road, to beautifully colored rock formations and hoodoos. The variety of colors is mesmerizing. Cotton candy walls and rainbow sorbet layers. Easy hike that winds through the park with a picture at every turn. @ruther_travels -instagram

This was a beautiful hike, kid friendly, and the sound of water would definitely keep me going back to this one!!!

Beautiful colors. It’s a nice change from the typical Colorado mountain hikes.

Did part of this hike today with my 10 week old puppy. Very nice. Good starter trail as it’s relatively flat and my puppy doesn’t have a lot of stamina yet. Lots of aspen, partial shade, and a pretty quick moving creek.

Love hiking in Castlewood Canyon, it has amazing views. The trails are easy enough to navigate that the kids can come with me.

This was a good hike just to do something short and go outside without exerting myself. It’s nothing really spectacular, and it’s fairly short. But this can also be a good thing. I would recommend this trail for if you have children, or if you just want to go outside and don’t have too much time :)

Loved the walk along the running creek. Beautiful scenery.

Easy and flat trail. My dog loved playing in the water. Good for young kids, elderly, and strollers. Does get a bit busy at peak times. Not the best views out of some others in the area but definitely one of the easiest.

Easy and beautiful!!
