Really nice hike. It was a little slick in parts due to snow on the ground...it was so nice in Denver I forgot about the recent snow! The scenery is lovely all along the trial.

The BEST hike, I did it in July in 3 days and it was the hardest but most fulfilling thing I have ever done in my life.

Get a good water filter, tent, rain gear (a must), the usual. We had to have a beat canister when we went and it was SO heavy, and doesnt get much lighter throughout the trip due to "bring it in bring it out." Next time we will use those bear bag type deals, much lighter and you're still able to rent those.

Its amazing, I am not in the best shape but not in bad shape and it was hard but not discouraging by any means! Have fun!!!

Beautiful views wherever you go! Challenging backpacking!

good hike and good views. foliage was past its peak, but not the trail's fault!

well blazed and we'll kept

The reward at the end of this hike is so worth it. You get a 360 degree view! Breathtaking! The hike is moderate but if your not use to the altitude there are small spots that can be difficult. Rest take your time, enjoy the quiet and beauty along the way.

We started the loop at panorama point and went clockwise. We skipped going to the campground and Endomondo clocked us at 2.60 miles. Once you come around the loop it gets fairly steep out if no where, so we may try going counterclockwise next time to have a more gradual incline. The trail is marked really well and maintained. The aspen are really starting to look great right now so come while you can.

I’m new to backpacking with this being my second trip ever. My son is an experienced hiker and he is the reason I got into doing these types of trips. We like the ease of hiking loops from a logistical standpoint so when we found this one, it was a no brained that we had to give it a go.

This trail was very difficult for me. I am not in the best physical shape but I am mentally strong which I believe is a good part of being able to successfully complete a hike like this one. There is thin air, cold, rain, hail and tough elevation changes. This can all beat you down if you can’t handle the mental aspect.

We completed the hike in 4 days in early August. Other than the rain on a couple days and the hail coming up over the passes, the weather was ok. I’m not sure there would have been a better time to hike this.

Would I do it again? Not sure. It took my knees a couple of weeks to recover from the beating they took going down the passes. The views were breathtaking and as is usually the case, pictures just don’t do it justice.

great trail. great views

This hike was magical today. The Aspen trees are turning so beautifully and you walk through countless forests of them. This was a pretty consistent incline, yet not too difficult. Very tranquil!

This hike was nice. A lot of good shade coverage. Definitely recommended during leaves changing. Once we got to the top of the trail, we laid down in a sea of trees and it was so unbelievably peaceful. The creek towards the beginning also looked like a fantasy. The water is crystal clear blue.

#twoenthusiasticthumbsup! start early and enjoy the views and a lunch at the top.

This is my favorite trail! It’s absolutely stunning right now with changing aspens. The trail takes you through forest along a river and over many bridges. The scenery is beautiful and the sound of the river is so calming. In the middle it goes through a field and then goes back into the forest over the river. Towards the end the trail rises in elevation and gets a bit more challenging, but nothing more difficult than medium. It’s a steady incline, but nothing too steep. The trees are beautiful and even in the parts where the Aspens aren’t changing the scenery is wonderful. I cannot recommend this trail enough. It’s perfect if you want forest, river, moderately challenging, and shaded.

From a serious trail runner's perspective, it is too technical to run the majority of the trail minus the first mile - trail studded with huge rocks, trees, roots, sloping. It is a rewarding trail, lined with aspens along the creek. It goes through a forest then proceeds to crisscross along the creek under aspens for the majority of the trail until it gives way until a clearing/bog. We clocked 9 miles total as well, the end of the trail is the cover photo. There is no proper 'end of trail'. If you choose to continue, it does through a forest then stops abruptly.

Awesome trail, the views when you reach panorama point are amazing. Great place to see the leaves changing in the fall.

Crags trail is beautiful especially in the fall. The 360 view on the top was amazing and so worth the hike. It’s a little hard to tell where to stop but make sure you follow the trail up to the top! Great trail. One of my favorites so far!

Beautiful views at the top make this worth it. The hike itself is pretty and a decent quick workout, but there are prettier hikes in the park if you have limited time. I did this one with my dog since dogs aren’t allowed to hike in the park. It is a dry trail with no water sources for the pups, fyi. Wasn’t very crowded during the week. No bugs that I saw.

We actually went on Sunday! It was gorgeous hike. Fall is here finally, and the foliage was gorgeous!
Fall came a little early this year, so some leaves have fallen, but a beautiful sunny day!!
Good crowd of people out hiking, I would say busy. The trail is wide in most spots, and it doesn’t matter which end you start from, your going downhill and uphill!
Enjoy

Beautiful hike!! It was long and got rough near the end, but the lake and cirque views are worth it!

Great fall foliage trail but lots of traffic, not one I would suggest if you want to be at alone with nature. Good for dogs and kids. Headed clockwise towards Panorama Point but found epic views shortly before. Parking is limited and a bit confusing, pull in behind the information center to find spots. This will be one of our fall go to spots for a quick and beautiful trail.

The scramble at the top was too much for a 3 year old but maybe we'll do it again in a few years.

Birding was ok

I love this trail!!!!

Not to be missed! Spectacular hike, especially in the fall.

Loved this hike. Kid friendly three years and up. If you go early take a jacket. The way we went ended at the river. Perfect spot to cool off and dip your toes in. We will be going again.

Challenging trail over the passes, but the amazing scenery makes it well worth the effort!

Completed the loop in 3 days/2 nights Sep 4-6, hiking counter-clockwise. Camped at Snowmass Lake the 1st night (~9 miles) and just above the large waterfall in Fravert Basin the 2nd night (~7.5 miles). Total distance logged on my gps watch was 29.4 miles, so that left about 13 miles on the last day over Frigid Air & West Maroon Passes. A storm on day 2 forced us to hike over Trail Rider Pass in snow/sleet, which made the trail muddy and extremely slippery. A good set of hiking/trekking poles is highly recommended!

I am only giving this trail a two because I didn't finish it. The second parking lot has a river running with beautiful rocks that where we stayed the entire time. We attempted to do the trail however it was very overgrown where the brush was constantly touching you. Being scared of running into a Rattlesnake, we decided to turn back and maybe come back in Winter. There was also a Bear in area sign that kind of freaked me out. No parking fee, Bathrooms at the trail head.

Great trail. It took my dogs and I about an hour and a half to complete from the campground. will definitely do it again. It's a plus that the aspens are changing right now!!

Absolutely amazing! My 1st solo hike - 26 pound pack to start. Went counter clockwise August 24-26 to make option to hike out 3rd day easier. Reflection of Snowmass lake in morning sun is breathtaking, do not miss! Found refreshing swimming hole and small falls about mile above big waterfall on 2nd day. Ended up hiking 14 miles 3rd day and exiting...love my new altra trail runners, no blisters and with lighter pack, was very doable and enjoyable. View after view will keep ya going. Would love to hike this again!!! Trail is well marked, met friendly trail runners and many helpful hikers and a resourceful ranger each day. Combine these with Alltrails app for navigation and a Spot devise for emergency rescue and you are good to go, safer than being in a city!

Great trail - well maintained and clearly marked. I got there at 6:50 on Tuesday and didn’t see a single other person the whole hike. Sunrise was technically at 6:45, but since the trail is in a valley I walked in shade almost the entire time. The aspens are beautiful right now! I took another hiker’s advice and went clockwise. It was nice to get the short, rocky uphill bursts out of the way at the beginning. There a really gorgeous spot where the trail opens to a panoramic view just before you get to the actual “Panorama Point.” Other than that there’s not many views, but the hike was still lovely.
