A lot harder than moderate especially in 80+ degree weather with the sun beaming down

Amazingly beautiful...no joke about it being rated moderate in difficulty. Peavine and Discovery trails are fairly easy...but all of the other trails through the dells and mountainous areas were very challenging! All of the main trails are marked with white dots...but so are the sides trails which can be confusing...we managed to get off the actual main trail and ended up adding a little more than a mile to our loop hike. It would be beneficial to have the shoot-off trails marked in a different color. Amazing hiking!!!

Good hike would have been a five the white dots in the rock area were a bit confusing got ‘lost’ a few times. Would definitely recommend though and would like to do again in the future.

Get there early to miss the late hikers. Starts out slow, but then you get in the Dells, man is it Beautiful. A lot bolder hopping but worth it!

HikingNo shade

The lookout point is stunning. Good, slightly challenging hike for a total novice, like me. The white dots along the rocky bits were invaluable. If you’re doing the full loop, would recommend that you take the counter-clockwise route, and start at the lookout point. This means you do the challenging parts earlier on, with the last third of the circuit a pleasant walk along the bike path and then parallel to the road - less pleasant, but you’re still walking through wildflowers and greenery, plus the shade is a welcome change. There is very little shade on the route, so definitely be prepared.

A little warm out midday September. The steeper part of the trail is marked off with white dots which really helped. Would love to come back in early Winter.

The first mile was beautiful along the lake. But then you get into 2.5 miles of climbing and sliding up and down rocks. Not bad, but definitely the hardest moderate I’ve done in a long time. And yes, we also got lost because of confusing white dots at critical intersections. Bring pokes!

I gave this a 4 star only because the trail is marked poorly. Otherwise it would have easily been a 5! It is gorgeous and a great change in scenery for Arizona! We ended up doing 6 miles instead of 4.5 due to going off trail a few times where there were white dots going multiple ways

Nice to not start in the crowded parking area. Then worked my way clockwise around the lake. I meet a very amicable cow who hiked with my for about a 1/4 mile

HikingGreat!Rocky

I wasn't sure what to expect since the south side was boring and I didn't like that the cars were passing by and the load noises on the other side because of machinery. The bikes passing next to us in the beginning was very annoying. There was a lot of people using the south part of the trail. Then when we got to the rocky part it was fun and challenging. The white dots were nice to have and follow. The smell of the water was awful!!!! The rock formations were beautiful! Overall it was a nice hike and would do it again.

Most of it was very well marked. Awesome views. Some shaded areas. Wear bug spray. Be on the lookout for rattlesnakes in the grassy areas. If you start the loop South you end the hike at the lake. Much needed for me and the pup :)
