Three starts for seasonal weather, great trail, tons of snow. Had to park 2.5 miles from trial head. Trail completely covered in up to 2 feet of snow. Not an easy hike in November. Great challenge and a ton of fun. Will hike again this summer. Pro tip: bring chains, snowshoes, and a GPS.

Beautiful hike, but definitely bring micro spikes if you have them for the top! There are about 2-3 inches 4800 ft +.

WOW the glacier the surrounding mountains the hike the red bushes of blueberries in the fall everything is just amazing in this hike a must do

Such a beautiful hike! So lucky to live in the PNW and have this in our backyard. There was quite a bit of snow at the top, so probably not many days left to do this hike this year.

This hike gets five stars for the easy access it provides to an up close and personal view of Mt Baker. This is an awesome hike and I think the closest you can get to the summit of M t Baker on a known trail. As long as you have your ten essentials you can hike right up to the glacier as the trail ends due to the glacier. No special equipment needed. Glaciers are typically blue as they are compressed ice where as snowfields are typically white. Do not walk on snow on top of a glacier or you could fall to your death into a crevasse. In fact there are often groups practicing crevasse rescue in this area.

The Railroad Grade section has you mostly on top of a ridge line with marmots cheering you on as you climb up and up gradually. If you have a fear of ledges or heights this might not be a great hike, although I think there are some trails to the side that parallel the high trail for the camp sites.

Eventually the worn trail ends and you have to use your skills, the wear patterns on the rocks and the evidence of any trail markers others have made to get to the top. Just set your sites on hump at a time and you will eventually reach the end of the road. Baker was nice enough to come out of the clouds long enough to make the hike just a little better.

Absolutely gorgeous. The meadow and the views of Shuksan are breathtaking. Bring lots of water and be prepared for a 90% uphill slog. Worth it.

What a great hike! Close glacier and crevasses views just awesome!

Diverse hike and amazing views. Camped about a mile down from the lookout. Plenty of berries along the trail. Will be sure to return someday.

Drive up was beautiful. Deep slushy thigh-deep snow prevented any hiking. All upper trails in same condition.

Great hike to train on if you plan to climb baker. It is difficult along the ridge line. But so worth it. Depending on your conditioning & firmness level, it will take you 3 to 3-1/2 hrs to get up from the trailhead and 2 to 2-1/2 to get down.

Attempted the full loop this weekend, without success. The parking lot is clear of snow now, but within the first 2km the trail is almost completely covered (counterclockwise loop), we had to follow someone else's boot tracks as a GPS can only help so much! Would definitely recommend crampons for the steeper, snowier parts. Had to turn around at ~5.5km as we completely lost the trail. Would love to attempt this trail in the late summer/early fall though.

Great trail still covered in snow. The parking lot and part of the road is still inaccessible, shoulder parking is available with an extra walk to the trailhead. I would recommend poles and gaiters.

4 stars just for today. We went for hike today 5/28/2017 and the trail was covered deep in snow even before we reached the actual parking spot. Had to park a mile out on the gravel road. We hiked a bit but had to turn back. We will try again maybe mid summer or end.

Great hike, but you have 6 to 10 inches of snow in the higher elevation.

This is a wonderful trail for beginners and so doable in a short period of time.

Great little hike. Magnificent views of Mt Baker and the drive to the trailhead

Wonderful views with relatively small effort. The grade was not overly steep and somewhat short. Almost seems like less than 7 miles. We were extremely impressed with the scenery! This is a must do hike.

The views are spectacular. The trail was in great shape. We did the hike on a Monday and there was very little traffic.

Now one of my favorites

Great views, the trail was well maintained. Not too many bugs.

Great 360 views for not a long hike! Pretty shaded for the first mile and then pretty open meadows for the last. Took the gradual way up and the scramble down (much shorter and really not that difficult). Bugs at the top were pretty bad. Blue lake was a good detour at the end for the puppies to cool off.

This is one of my favorite trails because of the scenery. It took about 2-2.5 hours to get to the lookout and we stayed there for a while soaking in the sights. Dogs are allowed off leash as long as they are under voice control and don't bother the wildlife. Bring snacks for the top!

This is a really great hike. We went to Railroad Grade. Probably easier than going to the lookout tower. Took us 2.5 hours because of our age.
