Overnighted at David Lesser shelter. Great spring at the bottom of the hill. Perfect hiking weather but trail is pretty swampy in areas. Faster hike out when the trail was frozen.

Stunning fall foliage and brookside hike. Only downside: inadequate signage, especially including indicators of which way takes you back to the parking lot.

Easy quick hike with a couple of great over look spots and picnic tables right on one. Great for children and dogs.

Doing this counterclockwise is the best suggestion. But, don't tell anyone that isn't on AllTrails! Good, challenging hike. We did this in 6.7 miles / 3hr 43min because we did a few side excursions. Highly recommended.

Ok for a local park.

The listed distance disagrees with Trailheadfinder.com and Google maps. Lesser Shelter is about 3 miles from this trailhead. The 5.9 mile distance listed likely refers to Blackburn Trail Center Shelter terminus.

Very beautiful musuem and trail . This trail is not well marked - it is located behind a horse farm on the underground railroad museum property. There is a small sign with a hiking man. I Took my daughter (8years old) and our dog. Not too difficult. Beautiful Creek and spring. Some spots are a little over grown- so be careful of postion ivy . Overall pleasant.

Beautiful Park area but the trails are so poorly marked it's not worth the time.

Great workout for the distance. Lots of up and down. I'd definitely do it again.

Good trail. Well established and easy to follow. I'd call it easy/moderate. Much of this trail is in the trees. Note that many sections serve as the water runoff for rain water. I hiked it after it had been raining for a day and parts were rather flooded. I can't wait to go back for an overnight at the shelter/campground.

Absolutely gorgeous and not too many people. There were three horses too! Lots of bugs but that’s to be expected. Some of the trails are not marked very clearly. The best part is how varied the trail is - from meadow to woods to creek. We ended up doing about five miles and i would describe as moderate. Good for dogs but need to be on leash. Parking was easy and it was easy to find the path. When we got further back, we barely saw anyone.

Good trail and decent workout as well. Ran into several deer on my hike. Would do it again.

Nice, shaded walk. It's a loop, so half of the hike will be pretty flat/downhill/easy, while the second half heads back uphill and is challenging. Picnic tables along the way for lunch, and not heavily trafficked. We brought our dog and she loved it.

Love this trail. Slight workout but not overwhelming!

Beautiful!! Probably should’ve paid more attention to the “moderate” part for my first hike in many many years. BUT, I made it and I didn’t quit.

This trail really should be an out and back instead of what is being shown on this website. I'd recommend picking up a trail map at the visitor center before getting started as there are various points on the trail that are marked that have little blurbs about them on the map.

The trail is very nicely maintained and for the most part well marked if you do the out and back. I wouldn't recommend trying to follow the trail map on this site. It will take you into a field where there isn't really a marked path.

The trail is not well marked.

This is a beautiful forested trail with some moderate climbs. We tacked on a portion of the Thurmond Vista trail for some additional distance and views, cutting back to the visitors center before Wolf rock (roughly 6 miles total). It took us about 2hrs 40 min with some stops to take in the views and the falls. Recommend going counterclockwise.

Solid trail. Intersects the trails that lead to the overlook at the top of sugarloaf.

Really beautiful stream and trail was marked really well! First trail I walked downloading the all trails app and wasn’t disappointed at all!

Lovely trail. Took the extended loop all the way around; just over 2hrs with a couple stops for the dog to wade in the water. Lots of horse manure, but easy to just walk around it. The river was a very nice aspect to the trail, which was all very rustic and lightly travelled. Not obvious at first where to enter the trail, but thankfully some nice people helped us get on our way.

Very short trails but nice for a quick jaunt with the pups. Mix of wooded areas and meadows. Bubbling streams and a small river make pleasant sounds while hiking. And the "hidden pond" was alive with croaking frogs (toads?). And the berry bushes were a pleasant surprise! But beware a LOT of poison ivy so use common sense and normal safety precautions.

Superb...:first time hiking alone and using this app!! Trail so peaceful with highlight walking along the creek.Apparently this is the hottest day and it felt wonderful...nice and shady.

great loop, beautiful vistas. the falls were somewhat crowded.

Super nice open trail with clear signs , great creek spots and wildflowers!

A well-maintained trail through pleasant fields, dense woods, and along a stream. A little muddy in parts (following a week of rain), but very manageable. Easy-moderate.

A little muddy after days of heavy rain, but still an easy & pleasant hike with the dog.

Fun trail with nice views, good elevation changes, and friendly people. Most of the hike is in the shade with a good halfway point parking lot with bathroom and picnic tables.

Loved this hike. It’s pretty flat along the canal side, then more climbing and descents on inland side. I did a double loop to increase the distance. First went clockwise around the loop, then went back counter-clockwise. That’s a good way to go bc then you maximize the climbing in the middle, with good warm up and warm down at start and finish on the flats. Lots of stream crossings. Well marked. Lovely trail. With double loop it’s 4 Miles.
