Very pretty and enjoyable trail. Great for running or biking, but can get pretty hot as there is no shade. Best in the cooler months or early morning hours.

Enjoyable open trail, few trees and little shade, well maintained trail!

Nice steep hills. Outer loop of the trail is not maintained. I’m 5’8 and the weeds were taller than me. Easy trail for a warm up

The trail itself is very challenging and wonderfully rustic. From an aesthetic point, it’s great! I had a hard time finding the loop and ended up turning around because the mosquitos were absolutely awful. I even sprayed myself on the trail but nothing worked. I would love to try and explore this trail some more, but the bugs might keep me away

Great workout. Steep hills are challenging.

For this area this is not an easy trail. Moderate and if you aren't paying close attention it's somewhat easy to get lost. history of the woods is interesting. stay on the marked trails.

Should not be labeled easy. Maybe for hiking. Biking is only for experienced bikers. Lots of ups and downs. Lots of Rocky/Sandy terrain with many visible roots in the middle of trail. Also pourly marked. Have fun!

Not impressed at all. Trail is not being maintained at all. Got down towards the bottom and couldn’t find the trail. Had to turn around because the mosquitoes were insane. I saw a turkey though which was cool.

the trails are like riding a roller coaster, fun trails to horseback ride but not safe trails to share with bikes. to many blind curves and hills, an accident waiting to happen with speeding bikes and horses.

Trail condition was excellent as was the weather. I’ll do this trail again for certain.

I grew up going to this trail and just visited again last week. Absolutely beautiful, well-maintained, and quiet. Lots of ducks and their ducklings this time of year, which was fun to see. Not a lot of leaves on the trees yet but that just meant there was a lot of sun :)

First, this is a horse trail. Watch where you step! Also be aware and give them a wide berth. If you’re good with that, this is a fun short hike.

Several larger ponds and lots of woods make this a scenic hike. Tons of wildlife here and if you walk back into the woods a little, sit down on a log, and be still, you’ll be rewarded with an abundance of animal activity.

I wouldn’t come here after rain as it would quite muddy. It opens early, so if you like a sunrise hike, this is a great place. Don’t leave anything of value in your car. Parking is secluded and not great and signs warn of keeping your valuables with you. That said, I wouldn’t avoid this place due to safety. It’s really nice!

Great place to fish. Clean lakes and a great museum

Fun/challenging hike for northern Illinois standards. Turned it into about a 5 mile trek by following a few rabbit trails. Backs up to a ski hill so there's some incline. If you live in northern Illinois and are looking for a spot to train for more strenuous hikes elsewhere this is a good spot for it

Unmarked trails but if you stick to the outside you will be fine on the loop. Recommend going to the top of the “mountain” great views!
Brought my pup and ran into a few other people with dogs. Very friendly.

Nice for running and light dog walks

A great hike for a beautiful winter day. Trails go through both open mildly hilly woodlands and flatter prairie-ish areas. Trails nicely groomed for cross-country skiing.

Go in clockwise direction. The other direction means you climb 203 ft. at the end and it’s steep.
No trails are marked so keep to the map on All Trails if you want to do the loop. Otherwise, enjoy all the rabbit trails! There are many. It was a great winter walk. Can’t wait to see it in the Spring.

Great for technical trail running - up, down, rocks, ruts, roots - love it.

Great place to ride a bike or walk!

Nice 5.5 mile hike on a chilly autumn day. Very easy walk with no rolling terrain or elevation changes. In the summer it's probably hot with no protection from the sun. Lots of street noise as well.

went there yesterday for the first time. Beautiful place. I didn't see any trail maps or markings at all which I didn't like, but really enjoyed the peacefulness of the place.

NOT an easy trail.. My dogs and I walked it however there is no way I would ride on it.. too many rocks and soft spots.

This is definitely hard, the trails inside the forest are super overgrown. Don't know if they come through and trim it all at the end of summer. The elevation changes are awesome! Definitely happy I wore pants instead of shorts. I'm covered with little sticker pods! I'm short and majority of the paths I tried in the inside were overgrown almost taller than me. I don't think I found the "summit". The path on the outside had a lot of butterflies and was mowed. Also glad I started off with the inside trail. I would do this again and explore more when it's cooler than 90 degrees though

NOT for road biking. Large stones on down hill grades, areas of soft sand, trails unmarked. Great for adventurous mountain bikes, moderately agile hikers, but there is no way I would call this easy.

An easy trail if you stay on the main path but if you get on to some of the smaller trails that branch off of the main trail it can be quite difficult.

Fairly easy in terms of skill level with a few decent inclines to mix it up. We ended the trail early because I couldn't handle my legs and arms getting scratched by the vegetation. Definitely not maintained in the summer. There are a lot of tall plants and grass that are growing over the narrow path so wear long clothing. My husband is 6'4 and hovered over most of the taller plants so his arms were fine. I'm 5'3 and was more susceptible to being scratched and whacked in the face by a few of the taller ones.

Tried to do the 3 mile loop. Luckily this app kept me on the trail (and road) but unfortunately it was not wheelchair accessible.

Love it
