Really great hike. Stopped by in October 2018 after I ran the Columbia Gorge Half Marathon. Hiked to the Falls with my Mom. The trail follows the creek for most of the way to the falls. It was a great opportunity to test out different settings on my camera. Some parts are rocky and slippery; bring good shoes.

Just a heads up. It's hunting season. Worth the $5 to buy an orange hunting vest so you don't get shot. Ran into a couple hunters who informed me of hunting season and let me borrow a vest. Better safe than sorry. Suspension bridge was awesome.

The walk to the trail was beautiful, the destination was easily the best beach I have ever been on. Make sure you explore the north side, you can get pretty far.

Great hike along a river with plenty of smaller falls on the way. There was a downed tree on the trail when I went (11/09/18) about 1.6 miles in. It gets rocky in some parts, but overall fairly easy.

Enjoyed this hike. Beautiful fall leaves this time of year!

Do not take children or dogs on this trail. Our dog had one mis-step on the narrow trail and slid and then tumbled into a ravine. He fell so far that we couldn't see him, and we thought he had been killed for sure. We got him out and were unbelievably lucky that he could walk himself back to the trailhead (and that we didn't get injured rescuing him). I have no proof, but I agree with other posters that this trail seemed longer than 7.3 miles.

I love Crescent beach so much! The views are absolutely breathtaking and it’s nice because there isn’t usually a lot of people there. The hike itself is an excellent workout, just be ready to get a little bit muddy. Also, it’s an amazing place to take pictures (just be ready to lug your equipment there and back).

Steep but up and down. Beautiful foliage.

Great hike! We didn’t intend to do this one, but we were finished hiking Ape Caves and realized this was so close. The first two sections are pretty great...rather short...so totally doable. Parts were a little scary since it was so wet out. The bridge was quite frightening for someone who is afraid of heights. More than adequate amount of signage. I would recommend this hike when it is dry out. Gorgeous views. Did not attempt to hike the most difficult part, I read in forums that it’s quite dangerous when wet.

Nice easy hike with a few slightly steep & rocky areas. When we got to the trailhead parking lot around 10:30, there was already about 10 cars and when we got back to the parking lot after our hike around 2:30, there was at least 25 cars. Popular trail, but it wasn’t crowded. No port-a-potty, so plan accordingly :)

Love.

Did it with our Golden and had an amazing time. Side note: Rocky in some spots. We passed by some people that turned around because they thought they were at the end of the trail (Don't do this! The waterfalls are gorgeous!)

Very short trail, part closest to waterfall is closed and from the Permanent look of the fence it won’t be open. Good if you want a little walk (round trip not more than half mile) and to see a beautiful waterfall from afar.

coming back up from the beach is killer, but beautiful all the way through.

Harder side of easy. It’s 80% hills, though none are too steep or too far up or too far down. If you’re looking for a ‘flat’ kind of easy, (I was thinking for my mom with arthritis) this ain’t it. The trail is really well maintained, no dangerous areas. The trailhead sign is hard to see but easier to see coming from the south (campground).

We were lucky based on the other reviews - there was little mud on the trail the day we hiked. We thought it was a fun hike, overall, and we thought the views were beautiful! Take time to stop at the Vista points made by previous hikers that are worth it The destination - Crescent Beach - is also beautiful and we ended up spending more time than we had anticipated down there! Check out the waterfall and the rock cave on the north end of the beach. We passed about six other small groups of hikers along the way, but it wasn’t a problem at all.

The stairs might be challenging for someone with bad knees; there are a few with bigger gaps in a couple of places. In most cases, people have made more manageable steps in the dirt alongside of the built stairs and there are not many of them! Keep in mind that if you drink a lot of water like I do...use the bathrooms before you head out. There’s nothing along the way! Enjoy!

Best stop we made off the Oregon Coast Highway. Super muddy terrain but so worth it.

Beautiful scenery on a clear October day. Just the drive here from PDX proper was worth it. A few other hikers on a Monday morning but didn’t feel crowded. Path gets rocky & has a few largish root tangles throughout but nothing truly difficult. Area near the falls can be very slippery, but how far up you go is up to you - it’s selfie-worthy at the bottom too. Path follows water throughout, super pleasant. Gorgeous short hike.

I e only ever done the very short part of this hike where we loop back after the suspension bridge but this time we decided to go right and continue on. I looked at the map and I saw where we could stay in the Lava Canyon trail by keeping left at the bridge. Once we hit SCOTT trail we took a little break over looking the river. We decided to go down SCOTT trail u til it met up with the upper part of Lava Canyon trail. It is t marked but you can see the trail to the left. Also I knew it was only .3 of a mile. They really should put signage there. The upper trail is all up! Looks like an old Forrest access road overgrown. But we had to take a couple short breaks to rest. It’s over 3 miles up. I believe we climbed about 1204 feet. I could definitely say no dogs past the suspension bridge and this is definitely rated HARD in my book. Scary at times. I am glad I did it.

My brother & I hiked this trail and I've got to say this hike is PERFECT if your not trying to go on a really long hike that has difficult terrain to navigate.
The waterfall at the end is DEFINITELY worth every bit of the hike that it takes to get there.
Plus the whole trail on the way to the waterfall has amazing views and cool spots to stop at.

Was a fun short hike. A little muddy on the first part of the trail but gets better for the downhill part.

incredible views!
the trail was as muddy as they claim and then some, plan accordingly.

Amazing little hike along the creek to the falls. The water was incredibly clear and the sandy bottom made it some of the prettiest water I have seen.

This was a beautiful hike! As others have stated, my only complaint is that you could see the road most of the time. Everything else was so beautiful that it didn’t really bother me. I definitely recommend going during the beginning of fall because it’s so beautiful when the leaves are starting to change and fog is dwelling around the trees. The waterfall was much bigger than I expected. Not very trafficked - even for a Saturday. We hung out at the waterfall for a good 30-45 min before people arrived.

Nice hike in the fall to see all the leaves changing colors. Waterfall was bigger than I expected. Just wished you could get closer.

Absolutely stunning views. Beach waterfall at the end. I never minded getting muddy as the views were spectacular.
