Fun trail, many rocks to climb and great views.

Great hike. However going counter clockwise thru the loop, after the first overlook (1.5 miles) there are several rock piles across the trail and rocks off and on for the next mile or two. Be sure to wear the proper shoes and take care. The overlooks are quite spectacular. I was however disappointed at Signal Knob overlook looking west as the small Maple trees have grown to block a lot of the view that was so breathtaking just a couple of years ago. I hope the trail maintenance crew in that area can trim those back as the view really has been compromised. Saw 4 solo's and 3 pairs of hikers all day. Temps in the 50's and cloudy.

Started off great with easy-to-see orange markers. After passing the high school field, the markers were far between, and we ended up getting lost multiple times. Had to finally turn around. Not impressed!

I expected a bit of a view from the summit but you can’t really see anything except trees. Regardless, it was a still a pleasant hike and it wasn’t too difficult. Trail was moderately rocky on the uphill sections.

Love this trail! great convenient beautiful moderate trail. Dog adored it, plenty of creek to splash around in and not too many people so he could. Really well marked and so many options for any length you might want.

nicest place we have stayed so far on MD AT. peaceful and quiet. Best spring too.

great hike. Section B was closed due to flooding. be prepared with a good amount of water

Hiked trail A. Great view, great workout. Has some challenging areas so, appropriate shoes are suggested. Will definitely go again. Does get a bit congested in the later morning hours.

Moderate tough with beautiful river side scenery and the sound of gushing river water.

Great Hike

Lovely walk. Only did the first chunk from Savage park to Guillford, but looking forward to doing the rest soon! Pretty popular though so there were a lot of people on the trail. Also wasn't a huge fan of the sections that ran and crossed over a major road

Because I was running out of time I only did part B and the view of the river and wall of rocks was fenomenal

This is a great hike, beautiful views and so close to the city.

section A is great workout with amazing scenery. get there early to beat the crowd. definitely recommend starting at the trailhead closest to the visitor center and bring plenty of water with you.

Trail A was a lot of fun. Watch your step on this one =]

I did Billy Goat Trails A and C (B was closed). I also hiked a good bit on the tow path for the return trip. Get there early. I was there and ready to start at 7 am. Hardly anyone around. By 930-10 am, there were lots of people. this trail is good for hiking or running. Follow the blue markers. Also, I rec getting the pro version of All Trails. My parents called me while I was hiking. I got distracted and got off trail (badly). When I got off track, it was easy to find my way back using the app. NI encountered no mosquitoes, which was a bonus. Trail is very shady. I definite repeat.

A is a great hike if no medical conditions. Saw lots of young children having a great time!

Apparently "At capacity", wasn't able to hike it. They also had signage saying there are current projects happening in the area effecting access.

Great trail for a couple hour hike. Fun but also a challenge. Great work out. Some type of hiking shoes are best for section A. Does get congested that’s why it lost a star.

Best in Maryland!

Not moderate. Easy.

Good trail some parts get a little backed up with traffic. Get ready to climb rocks, decent physical challenge not too bad or exhausting.

Easy in the side near south mtn inn

TRAIL CLOSURE MESSAGE: The only section of trail that is OPEN in this feature trail is the Santee Branch Trail. All trails leading down to or connected to the Grist Mill Trail are CLOSED. The Grist Mill was badly damaged in the June 2018 Ellicott City flood. The Swinging Bridge is only open to view the river. You can't cross over from side to side. The footbridge and much of the Grist Mill trail has washed away.

I love this trail but it’s best during the week because the weekend can be too busy. Great for dogs, I have 2 and 99% of people with dogs on trail are dog friendly

love the views and cliffs. much wild life

Not too tough. White Rocks overlook was great. Mosquitoes out & fairly wet and muddy in spots.

As of today Trails A and B are closed but the trail to Great Falls overlook is great. It’s flat, smooth, small pebbles; easy for walking or biking. The overlook is incredible.

*** FLOOD CONDITIONS ON THE BALTIMORE. COUNTY. SIDE ***
Today, I hiked the park road on one side of the park heading to the Glen Artney side of the Avalon section. - My pictures depict the damage on that side. - Only a few trails on that side are OPEN. - You can drive up to the Soapstone trail head and hike your way up to S. Rolling Rd. but the trail has a few detours. - The Inner Soapstone trail along Glen Artney Rd. is CLOSED. The Bull Run trail is also OPEN. - If you park up at the Fire Rd. you can hike the Santee towards the Hilton Area but trails leading to the Grist Mill are CLOSED. - The 2-mile Grist Mill trail is CLOSED and will be for the rest of the year. - All the footbridges are washed away. - The parking lot at the Lost Lake Pond is CLOSED. - It was a iffy day with the weather so I hiked the road knowing I could take shelter if needed. - The skies looked bad but the rain never came. - The ( Left ) Howard County side is ALL OPEN. Enjoy !!

Challenging and fun!!! Definitely coming back. Beautiful scenery.
