Easy trail with good footing. Beautiful views of tidal marshes and live oaks with Spanish Moss. In a state park with good facilities. No bugs in November but I can see how other times of year repellent would be a good idea.

Being from Oklahoma, all the trees and marshes were really beautiful. We didn’t see much wildlife or birds but the walk was really nice. Did about 5 miles total.

This is a nice place to go for a walk with beautiful scenery and a little bit of historical information. Definitely bring bug spray.

Nice loop with about 2/3 of the distance along Badin Lake. Some up-and-down but mostly flat. Passes several campgrounds and several established primitive lakeside campsites. Well marked with white paint blazes. Well-maintained considering it receives little traffic. Overall, probably the best dayhiking loop in Uwharrie National Forest.

breathtaking Lowcountry hike! you have to get 4 stars to any place where you see three alligators. the only downside to this place was the parking, I ended up parking at the horse stables in walking into the park

amazing

Very peaceful trail!

It could’ve been the time and day, but this wasn’t a very enjoyable hike due to the amount of mountain bikers and some confusing trail labeling.

Great hike for exercise. I would wait for lake season to end to do it again. Did not like hiking through occupied campsites on lake. You hear lots of noise from cars, boats and jetskis.

Nice trail and great loop by lake and in woods. Only downside is litter by lake side of trail.

Did a short hike on the southern portion of the trail but going back for an overnight backpacking trip. Trail was marked well. Nice elevation change, not too drastic. Lots of great areas for camping. Went on a Saturday morning and was on the trail for about four hours. Ran in to trail runners every 20-30 min. Not too crowded. Had a great time with my wife, 5-year old and dog.

Did this around Easter this year with a 3 year old strapped to my back. Nice and easy trail, but needed to forward ~6 inch deep tidal steam to compete our circuit.

Part of the circuit was still closed from a hurricane last year.

Super bummed with this trail. We left from the Oyster Point campground, and it was great for about .35mi...until it was completely washed out. No warning or notice from the trail start. Definitely had potential but poorly maintained and would have been nice to have a heads up that it was closed or something. Hopefully we will get an opportunity to try it again.

It's a nice trail with good views of the lake. It is very easy to follow with the exception of the area near the boat ramp (you have to cross a large parking lot to pick the trail back up). The major drawback to this trail was the trash. There are campsites along the lake and many had been trashed over the weekend. There were beer cans everywhere and one group appeared to have put a whole camping chair in the fire and left it. Personally I think things like that take away from the experience, but overall it was still a decent hike.

Really nice hike - well marked except at the Cove Boat Ramp. We exited the woods and wandered around trying to find the rest of the trail. We eventually did though - took about 2 1/2 hours. Pretty and very few people on it. Unfortunately there is some litter near the trailheads which spoiled the hike a little for me.

We rode our bikes over, ready to pay access fee, but they do not allow public biking through the reserve. You have to drive a car in with your bikes loaded, pay the $6.00 entry fee, and then can bike.

We walked a couple of miles of this trail, turned back in rain, which of course cleared up quickly. Great views of the South Fork River, currently very high and muddy with floodwater. Saw a snake too, a young Eastern King Snake, which makes it an awesome hike!

Kind of a boring hike, lots of geckos and snakes. smelled very good!

I’ve done this one several times. It’s flat and has some cool views of the marshes.

Water shallow at spots, didn’t see much wildlife

very nice and easy to follow. not sure why it's considered moderate though, I'd say it is easy. friendly folks along the trails also.

App didn’t follow trail but the views were pretty good and had Military jets flying over head a few times.
