Relatively easy trail. The most difficult part of the trail is the entrance side near the 57 fwy but the difficulty is only for a short while. Most of the hike was easy. There are several creek crossings and beautiful trees for the sun to shine through. Kids could get tired just because of the distance but difficulty level is easy

This trail is a nice and easy hike that's perfect for the family and doggies. There's tons of shade provided by the oaks and alders. Unfortunately, there was some graffiti on parts of the trail, but if you can look past that, you'll still find beauty around you. The elevation gain/loss is barely noticeable since it's only 416 feet. This should make the hike pleasant. The keen hiker will note that there are several species of plants that don't belong in the creek. I found bamboo and Mexican Fan Palms growing near the creek which normally don't grow there. There's also lot's of poison oak growing along the creek bed so great care must be taken when going near the creek. Overall, it was a nice hike and I would do it again.

This must have been an excellent trail before the fire, but the blaze has changed this area drastically. It destroyed the trees and vegetation (though a surprising amount of greenery has re-emerged) which provided shade and something to look at and appreciate while pushing uphill. However, now it’s just a boring grind under a punishing sun. I can tell this trail once had a lot going for it. Hopefully it will again one day soon.

Beautiful trail, easy once you’re off the paved portion, the paved area is very steep so it had a a level of difficulty to the trail in the way back. Lot’s of cottages along the path that make this the enchanted forest. Decent size swimming hole and waterfall at the end. An enjoyable hike. Many trails off this one, not always clear on the descriptions which trail they are referring to.

Awesome cute trail , can be difficult every once in a while but over all a really calm hike !

Was looking for a 3 or 4 hr hike and a good workout. Was on the trail for 3.5 hrs. Really nice hike. Could hear water trickling through canyon for about 20% of the trail. A few really cool little waterfalls. Several forks on trail left me wondering if I went the right way. Took a wrong turn once and had to backtrack. Suggest GPS to keep you on the trail if you’re not familiar with the area. Some great views of SB and the Channel Islands. Got to the end of the official Rattlesnake Canyon trail but decided to keep going on another trail (Tunnel Trail maybe). After about 10 minutes on this trail, I was treated to an amazing view of SB. Definitely worth the extra time on the trail. Went on a Thursday. Parking was no problem and the trail wasn’t too crowded. Got just what I wanted - a cool hike and a great workout!

Nice place to visit beautiful easy trail
The trail itself is pretty clear and easy to hike
Be prepared to pay for parking (ticket otherwise) you need some sort of pass -
Equestrians do not visit during the weekend there will be no parking for trailers -go during the week -
There are TONS of poison oak but trails are pretty clear (so stay on it ) bring bug spray - the only down side was it’s VERY rocky for horses towards the end closer to falls -fine for hikers just be careful if you have equine friends joining -will definitely be returning with my pup for a good hike the scenery and sound of the running stream is nice .

Not the most spectacular falls in the San Gabriels (especially in the summer), but well worth the drive. The creekside trail is mostly shaded and passes come quaint cabins from the early 1900s. However, the first half mile or so down to Roberts camp is on a paved, unshaded road with about a 12% grade, all uphill on the way back, so plan accordingly.

Pretty easy hike, until the hike out. This weekend was super hot so it was rough. Bring plenty of water and take rests.
My doggy was tuckered

Great hike! Don’t forget your insect repellent!

My Buddy and I biked this trail this hot morning. Started at 7 Am parking was full, lots of hikers ........No bears but we did see lots squirrels a hawk and lots of butterflies!..... definitely cooler in the lower parts .....Dear Hikers please coordinate with bicyclists for safe passage in the narrow sandy trail parts .....! Dear cycling brothers hang a bell on your bikes it makes hikers aware of your presence.....stay safe and hydrated......love light and good vibes from Victor!!!

My wife and I have done this before and enjoyed it for easy hills, nice shady Oak trees and gentle creek and we found a rope swing over the creek. We will be back but not today it's 112 degrees.

Beautiful trail. We did see a brown bear. Too close for comfort. Made lots of noise. All are safe.

Took my 7 yr. old. Didn’t make it all the way but it was well worth it. Lots of shade and some creek crossings. A good place for a family hike. Certainly recommend it.

Great morning hike to the Waterfall. Going down is easy, but going up is a bit challenging.

Crowded but worth it. Saw a good amount of wild life aside from the seals like a large gopher snake. Don't be that guy who walks on the beach close to the seals. It's very bad for the seals, those people are the worst.

favorite hike in L.A so far!

beautiful scenery! great hike overall!

Moderately strenuous trail through the canyon. Trail markers not always clear but easy enough to find your way back.

Good trail, unmainteined, a lot of graffitis and some homeless around made it uncomfortable.. easy and simple.

Camped at Hoegees Trail Camp this past weekend 6/23/18-6/24/18. Plenty of water at camp to filter and it wasn’t that crowded. Arrived at the campground in the morning of 6/23, upon arrival the camp was full but everyone was packing up to head out and around 9:00 AM I had the campground to myself till 1:00PM when a couple of other backpackers rolled in for the evening. However there were plenty of day hikers passing through.
In the early evening a huge brown bear came strolling through that also scared a few day hikers off of the trail into the camp, we managed to scare it off after a lot of yelling. However, the bear came back later in the evening and ending up getting my bear bag that was hanging from a tree, not sure how I managed to sleep through it bur some other campers that were up said the bear went after the line and was able to drop the bag, WTF? Anyways my bag was gone as well as a few other camper’s food bags as I found what was left of my bear bag on the hike out along with several other torn up food bags. The next time I come I’ll probably bring a bear canister.

Nice steady hike. Only went as far as Hoegee’s campground then turned backed. Didn’t see a waterfall. Watch for mountain bikers up/down trail.

This is me and my K-9s favorite place to go if we have a free weekday off! Otherwise weekends suuuuuuuuckah! It’s super shaded and a great work out too! Dope little water splash at the end where we chill and eat some lunch! Either way be cool and respect Mother Nature and clean up after your self there’s more and more trash along the way and it sucks cleaning up after other people.

it was a nice hike but it's farther than it says on the app and there was no waterfall at the end because they're wasn't much water but it's a nice hike and just enough shade

I loved every moment

Nice and cool down between the trees. Once down in the canyon area the trek is pretty leisurely. I ended up jogging back from the waterfall with my partner.

Very good trail, on the way back you go to a big steep hill, but every else was fantastic.

Good easy path ways, clean and nice wild flowers to enhance your nice peaceful hike. Save your energy for the return as there's a steep climb back up to civilization. Don't forget to bring your adventure pass! Parking can be made possible via valet service for $20, parking on the side of the road or if your lucky in the parking lot.

Nice, shady trail. Mostly flat except for the beginning and end. Not easy when I have to carry my toddler back to my car in the direct sun. Will probably return when my daughter gets older and on a cooler day.
