Good for an hour walk. Check the high tide!

on Balboa Park Trails

I used the directions from the app and found a sign in the parking lot with a map. I wanted to do trail #12 and tried to follow the directions to the trail. I walked around the park for an hour before finding what might have been the trail but it was so secluded I didn’t feel safe going on it alone so I turned around and went to my usual walk in Encinitas. The park itself is nice with very nice tennis courts and several areas to relax and have a picnic. I just really wish there were better signs to show you where you are and where you’re headed.

this beach is very beautiful! there were a good number of surfers. the hike down was easy, and there are a couple of alternate "bushwhacking" routes if you feel more adventurous than the paved road. you get to enjoy stunning views of the ocean through the small canyon you hike down to the beach. the hike out is steep, but it's no sweat. well maybe, a touch... lol

Gorgeous. Go at low tide and spend plenty of time at the tide pools.

Beautiful views and beautiful beach w/ many surfers and paragliders!! Highly recommend. The hike down is a piece of cake but the hike up is a tough one.

The views are amazing. I don't think it was a mile.

on Harveston Trail

I agree this is not a "hike" nor a "trail" but just a sidewalk around a small pond. But I do like it if all I want is an easy stroll with my elderly parents or young toddlers for just a pleasant short walk after dinner in the evening. It's also good in the early morning before work just to get the blood circulating.

Good hike with nice views. Plenty of shade throughout the trail to help with the hot days...

Comes up in a neighborhood. Tar road for the bottom part of this trail. Steep, but easy.

Walked and ran some of this “trail” which actually an all paved walkway. Some parts of the path do not allow bikes/skateboards/scooters etc but people did anyway. Flat and easy path. Kid and dog safe. There are homeless along the path but not many and they didn’t bother anyway. If you have to go the bathroom there at least three public restrooms along the way. The harbor one (off the path near the hornblower ships) was the cleanest. I parked at the Embarcadero Marina Park parking lot, which is metered pay. Use a credit card (easiest) and it’s for 3 hours. Plenty of time to walk/run the path.

A nice hike showcasing the rugged beauty of San Diego’s cliffs. It’s gorgeous!! The trail is has steps built into the steeper slopes. Parts of the areas you can explore are dangerous, especially with little ones - I felt that I had to be very attentive and careful with my kids. It’s a pretty short trail, but you can also drive up to the lighthouse parking lot and walk the Bayside Trail or the shorter panoramic trails around the lighthouse. There is an entrance fee of $15 per car (good for one week), but $30 gets you an annual pass to this park. If you’re military, you can get a free annual pass for all the National Parks here.

Steep little jog from beach to the road makes for a nice quick leg workout. At sunset the rabbits can be seen along the path and there's a cool little beach at the bottom.

Good short hike for kids and families. Lots to see as well

great for kids. each small trail makes it easy to set goals for the kiddos.

Lovely stretch of beach with a few tide pools.
Can’t get to Solana Beach with Dogs. There are roving rangers that will stop you.

Dogs are allowed.

Not really a hike. One mile but it is very cool looking. If you go in the winter I guess the low tide is during the day hours so you can get to more of the cool places. Nice and relaxing. Carry some snacks and have a picnic on the shore. Very relaxing. You can bring your fur babies too.

I will love to post a review, but after driving there I was faced by a close gate and s sign that states close on Wednesday.

Nice but so short it’s almost pointless

Beautiful hike! Good elevation and lovely views. We were hiking, but saw a mountain biker, a trail runner and a dog walker on our trip. Went with our 3 kids, ages 10, 8 and 3 - it was challenging enough to be fun, but doable enough that no one was whining.

Never disappoints!

Nice little contained nature walk area, and the mill house is an added bonus to ponder 19th century entrepreneurial spirit.

One really tough spot but beautiful hike to the beach

Easy. Simple. Only did this to get our puppy used to a little distance. We did not do the .8 around the lake. We actually walked the entire Harveston area - which gives you about 3.5 miles.

Such a beautiful trail to the pier.

could be a potential romantic walk

Great beach walk. Make sure that you don’t go during high tide. Dogs are NOT allowed for the whole hike.
