always there to provide awesome suggestions on almost everything I want to do trailwise.
love it

The trail is extremely well marked and maintained with very easy terrain, but you’ll need to bathe in insect repentant and wear a beekeeper’s hat to keep your insanity intact. To say this was a very buggy trail is an understatement; I had flies droning in my ears the whole time. On the upside, we heard woodpeckers and saw a box turtle. (8/18)

Good level of challenging, some steep parts but such a well made path it was no problem. Ample parking (with video security), free (with donations recommended), great views and different path options. Overall great hike!

Great hike, but it is more moderate than easy. The trail was also had to follow since it was comprised of a couple of other trails.

Great hike. Fairly easy, but White Rocks( north and south) has scenic views. I will agree some of the markings(blazes) were difficult to see. My wife and I did lose the trail at one point. However, given this property is part of a foundation, I am very thankful we have access to it. Worth the hike.

The blue trail is beautiful and rugged. It is poorly marked in one spot. We took the wrong path and had to back track. We came across a Timber Rattlesnake on the trail.

has some nice swamp areas and birding but the traffic noise is a bit of a distraction

I love this trail for some basic cycling!

This particular route is a WATER trail not a land trail! I suggest checking tides and winds as it can be fairly difficult if you are paddling against them. The Shad Landing area itself offers some easy hiking trails, half of which are pet friendly. People looking for longer, pet friendly hikes should check out the Milburn Landing area of Pocomoke River State Park which also has access to the trail head for the Algonquin Cross Country Trail into the Pocomoke State Forest.

Nice oasis in the city with actual trails to run. Wasn’t too busy for a weekday evening.

The Blue Trail was an enjoyable but challenging walk in the woods. I found myself going up and down a lot. The trail markings were a bit confusing at first and it can be pretty easy to go off the trail if you're not careful. It wasn't too hot considering it was mid July when I did this. I had fun spotting all the different granite intrusions in the rocks. The summit at White Rocks was breathtaking.

Really great and less frequently traveled trail. Going over the bridge gives you a great view of the Potomac and there is a statute of Teddy Roosevelt on the island. Very easy hike, gets muddy after rain however. You can go swimming at certain points but take caution; it's swim at your own risk.

Park is beautiful but the lack of adequate blazes and trail markers sadly makes me rate this loop 2 stars.

the trails get poorly marked as you go further in. we completely missed a turn off for the blue trail and wasted a lot of time. it was disappointing not being able to do the full loop as originally planned. we might try another day

A great way to escape Maryland's liberal bullshit.

Good urban escape

Good for a day's workout. Trail has good tree cover and stays cooler.

I thought this place was cool! Some people were playing in the fountains that weren’t running... so that was freaking weird- but overall a really good place to take my dog on a walk and let her swim a bit. Super easy place to walk around. Probably one of the lesser known places to go in the area, there’s a huge statue of Teddy Roosevelt people liked to take pictures with. I’ll definitely head back soon.

Great hike with great views! Pick up map when you enter park. Orange trail is steep, but short (0.25 mile), climb to summit of Sugarloaf at 1,282 ft elevation. (Climb from parking lot is around 400 feet.) Many surrounding trails allow you to customize your hike and length. I did this trail as mapped out to Northern Peak and White Rocks. Most of the hike, except for the steep Orange Trail climb, is easy. Beautiful Mountain Laurel on the trail, nice scenery around, mostly shaded. Would definitely do this hike again!

Quick and easy hike with beautiful views. Went two Friday afternoons ago and the parking lot was almost empty.

A scenic, easy paved trail for the days you'd rather keep your feet dry. We saw chipmunks, a deer and a fox in close range. Not bad for a trail that sits between a busy road with noise traffic and a neighborhood you can see from parts of the trail. I may bike here with the kids next time, but look elsewhere for a more serene experience.

Great hike for hikers seeking a drastic elevation climb.

Airplanes frequent overhead creating a lot of noise. It’s very slippery and muddy after big rains.
Great for bird watching. Lots of Redwings and mallards.

Teddy Roosevelt Island houses one of the lesser-known monuments and is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of urban life without ever leaving the city. This is an extremely easy, flat, paved path with a few through-trails in-between the major loop. Experienced hikers who are looking for a challenge would find this trail boring, whereas tourists looking for some relief or those looking for a leisurely stroll would love this area. It is fairly deserted during regular business hours, but can get busy on the weekend.

Walked about the Theodore Roosevelt Island bridge entrance, my first time really exploring this area. The bridge over to the Island was closed today as a public safety precaution due to recent flooding in this area. My plan was to run around the island before running Martha Custis, but since I couldn't I just walked about taking pictures.

This is a pretty cool spot, and is also the location where you park for the Martha Custis Trail. The place was already swarming with people on a Sunday at about 10:30, so I advise doing things early, like 5-6 am on weekend visits. I will be returning.

Great way to respect a president who loved the outdoors! nice and quiet island, hike it to escape the craziness of DC, plus lots of wildlife

1st time there...amazing experience with the ponies. Very easy trails for casual 1/2 day hike.

About halfway through this hike I was saying it should have been rated easy... by the end I was completely exhausted! I am training for a backpacking trip so I did this hike with a 25-30 pound backpack on which made the incline portions pretty difficult. It was great practice and a beautiful hike. Towards the end we came across a parking lot and thought we were at the end but it was not the west view parking lot and that made the last mile or so much harder. We also got off the trail a couple of times but always found our way back without too much trouble. We went on a beautiful spring day and there weren't too many people on the trail.
