This isn’t really a trail. It follows, sort of, the frisbee golf course. Don’t get me wrong, if you are there to play frisbee golf it is a quite beautiful course. If you are there to swim, really nice too. It is just this hike that isn’t really a hike that I am rating 1 Star.

One of the best in the area.

Open today, August 13. It is a flat, shaded trail—nice on a hot day like today. You can add on miles by running from Minnehaha Falls area, Minnehaha Creek, etc.

Great trail— the State Park website says it’s open again. Any reports on if this is true?

Awesome trails that had pretty good elevation gain over short distances. The Stinks (dog) was tuckered out toward the end. The “Big Woods” have a rich history that you can read about along the trails. I wish it was a longer hike but it was fun!

Beautiful trail, the bluffs are fun but i thought the maps weren’t very clear. Dogs ARE okay if they are leashes. Would definitely do this loop again :)!

Great rolling hills

We did the Coyote Point Section of the trail. Beautiful trail with some steep sections. Overall not too bad and 40 minutes for one way.

Lots of route options with several small loops that link together. A great nature route with overlook views at the top

Beautiful area. Much larger than expected.
Upkeep of the trails leaves something to be desired. A lot of it was overgrown and some trails that show on the map are not accessible due to it being overgrown. The trail signs are a bit difficult to know how far and what direction it will truly be going unless you are looking at a map.
Due to flooding a very large section of trail is under water and not accessible at this current time.
A lot of nature to see. Beautiful fields, forest area and the lake. Some of the swamp area was mucky and a bit hard to navigate.
Overall a great trail, not many visitors. So very peaceful. Plan ahead to carry any trash you have as there were no trash bins in the area.

Some great inclines on unpaved trails. Kids able to climb fine. There are several microclimates in the short walk... woods, sandy, prairie. Great overlook of Shakopee. Bring bug spray and sometimes rain can leave a soggy trail near the parking lot.

Attempted this June 30th 2018, couldn't get onto it due to flooding. It looked great on the other side :D

Clean. Beautiful views

Trail is maintained well, episodic nice views of the river. A bit muddy in places, only because hiking .after several days of rain.

It was a hot and muggy day at Whitewater State Park, but my sister and I really enjoyed our first visit here! Hiked the Chimney Rock Trail to Inspiration Point, and then we did the Trout Run Creek Trail. The one by the creek was especially nice because of a refreshing breeze coming off the water. Terrain on Chimney Rock to Inspiration Point was definitely more than “moderate”!

Mostly flat loop with a couple of steeper sections on the south end. Passes through a wide variety of habitats: prairie, forest, and wetland. Above average bird viewing. Check yourself for ticks when you finish.

Nice, nearly flat loop on grassy trail featuring overlook of St. Croix River. Trail alternates between forest and prairie. Prairie portion offers good bird watching. Lots of bugs in the forest during the warmer months.

Did not expect to find a trail like this in this area! Great mixed terrain with some awesome (bigger) hills, beautiful woods, great prairies, and overlooks.

loved this hike - for those looking for some moderate elevation gain. this one is challenging in places - there is some fairly steep grades and exposure. wear good boots. i had trek poles which helped as well. we did this hike in reverse. the stairs along the main road entry point is the standard entry. you can enter it in reverse as well. whitewater state park is a treasure unbeknownst to many native minnesotans. make a day trip! such incredible panoramas.

Good trail close to home in Eden Prairie.

My husband and I tried to hike this last weekend on 5/6/2018. Unfortunately, it was closed due to flooding. Definitely will have to go back and try it again! Thankfully, we found some other hikes at Fort Snelling State Park!

I've been here multiple times, usually in the spring. Beautiful place, not too much foot traffic, and a lot to explore in the area. A forewarning: if you go off trail, you are going to pick up lots of ticks. You shouldn't get too many (if any) if you stick to the trail though.

Did 7 miles of the paved trails around lake. Had my dog so didn't get off paved trails. Will go back alone and do the unpaved trails. Monday morning so not a lot of hikers. Would say park and trail would be very crowded on weekends.

So many different trails to take and some are not easy but they are worth the adventure. The outlooks are AMAZING!!! I spent 2 hrs hiking around and was not disappointed

Fun trail. Not too difficult, but there are sections that are tricky. One of the better in the area

Well maintain. Easy hike.

Very beautiful! a hidden treasure of a park in the middle of farmland. I would consider some of these trails as HARD due to how steep sections are, definitely had to crawl with all fours because it was that rocky and steep. Got pretty winded too.

The wildlife you see along the way is exciting! I saw several woodpeckers, a dozen deer including two baby, and a bunch of wild turkeys. Only encountered a few people on my walk. It is peaceful and feels like your up north.

Have hiked it in all seasons. Good place to train for an off road trail race. Lots of families near the nature center during the day, but the trail is pretty empty of people around sundown. Seen wild deer and turkeys.
