This place was good:) although the road takes u to some private road it brings you to a right place to start after you park your POV(private owned vehicle). The place starts off with off road trail that has road closed bar/sign. The previous review is good review but its a LOOP trail! Before you start there is a board of sign, map, caution, all good trash on it

great hike with some good views

10.7 miles? Maybe around 16 according to mile marker signs

The East loop is nice, and the rock quarry is a good place to rest and take a lunch.
West loop is tough, but could use a little upkeep due to some overgrowth.
Both trials are good for training for more advanced hikes.

It was a nice trail, A little strenuous in places, but not too bad. At the beginning there was a lot of trash, but further in it the trail was pretty and tranquil. We were the only one's there.

Very poorly marked. We figured out we went the wrong way after it was too late. When you begin the trail after you park stay to the LEFT. I’m sure we will be back to hike the correct trail next time. Kind of a bummer.

Beautiful and remote. Great to bring the dogs and kids. Easy hike and great creek access!

The river is fantastic. Steep climb out once you get down to the river, but well worth it.

Peaceful and enjoyable hike.

Gorgeous trail with a great rest stop at the inn, in which you can book a night

Nice shaded trail. Will hike again!

Great Place nice view Great Rangers volunteers are very helpful

Just an fyi...there are a couple of big trees that came down right where the yellow and red trails meet. Someone with some saws or something need to cut a new path. Couldnt get to the red trail.

Great hike in and out! Beautiful
quarry!!

there are more bike trails than walking but I have fully explored all but two which are bike only paths. tons of great views and easy to navigate. my favorite park so far

This was an unexpected treat! We went there expecting the 3.7 mile loop listed on this site and instead found it to be more like 18.5 miles of hikeable terrain . The trail is wide enough to accommodate horseback riders making it down right luxurious for hikers. We only hiked the trail outlined on this site but stumbled upon a group of volunteers that were doing maintenance on the paths (clearing fallen trees). They explained that they had been expanding the area over the last several months. We saw several deer, a turtle on the path and several folks on horses. We will return here often.

Started on the right side behind the visitor's lodge and hiked up, then took the steps back down. Highly recommend going in the morning before it gets hot and people start flowing in! We were finished around noon (on a Sunday) and the steps were packed with people on our way down. Also as a previous review stated please do not take your dog on the steps! There are so many other ways up or down that are less painful for them.

Second time there and we found the river! There is a sign at the beginning of the loop that is extremely misleading....ignore it as it will guide you right off the river loop trail. It points to a different direction with a picture of horses, hikers and bikers. At any rate, the loop starts and ends at a big oak tree in the middle. Stay on the narrow path and you're on the way to the river and sand bars.

Great after work 30-40 min trail run with my pup! One of my favorites. Has mountain bikers so if you’re bringing a dog, weekdays may be better with fewer bikers as some of the sections are narrow. Great elevation gain for a solid workout and awesome views from some of the high points, esp in the fall. Convenient parking area as well.

Great hike! First portion was paved, but rest was well traveled dirt path. Tired the kids out, but great views of Allatoona!

Hike was beautiful. So much greenery right along the river! Water was warm also, with several small beach areas along the trail. Only negative was the bugs! (And I got stung by a bee)

We did the route clockwise and it was up hill most of the way. Took about 2 hours. View at top was blocked by summer foliage. Nice day out in the woods.

Great way to stretch the legs and plenty to see.
