The 4 stars I give this trail is purely for the part of the trail South of Route 165. This part of the trail is well blazed and scenic. There is a beautiful section of new pine tree growth that is a joy to walk through. The trail gives way to some ledges, nothing very strenuous but again this keeps the hiking interesting when the trail varies Crossing Route 165 can be a bit dangerous as there are blind hills on both sides and the cars are moving pretty quickly. The trail on the other side would rate 2 stars. As others have mentioned, it has been heavily logged. The trail follows the edge of where it was logged for a mile or two and then veers off back into the woods. There is some dirt road walking on the old Ten Rod Road heading back to the starting point. For the most hiking pleasure, stay to the South of Route 165.

HikingGreat!

Good trail, could have been marked better around the 5 mile region. After you cross 165 the hike is pretty boring as it is all logged.

Pleasant and quiet today! Overcast days are the best. Not much mud yet for this spring.

nice loop - took it clockwise with the family (5, 7, 9 y\o). Saw a coyote, snake, and trout - several horse riders as well. Well-marked trail, although the All-Trails map is a bit inaccurate above the pond. It shows a small add-on detour to the right which I did not see at all when hiking - just stay on thr yellow blaze through this section. Also the map is a bit inaccurate about which side of the stream the trail is on in this section. Northern section away from the pond is not heavily traveled. A few muddy sections but kids navigated them with no problem. The section along the brook is very nice, as is the little waterfall on the feeder stream close to the end of thr loop. Looking forward to revisiting this area in other seasons.

Loved this! Mostly dog friendly but there were areas I let my pup run for safety because it was so steep or rocky. Lots of scrambling in spots. Wish I’d worn boots for the overflow in spots. Slippery crossing streams too. But great!

Meh! Although this trail was well marked and had some challenges in terms of inclines, there just really wasn’t that much interesting to see. The white trail in the beginning was the best part. Not sure if this is due to the season-spring just starting but there were so many down limbs and bare trees for the majority of the hike.

Little traffic on this woodlands walk. Trail passes by streams, old foundations, and a scenic pond.

The first third is great. You meet up with the Wood River and then start gaining elevation. There are some really good views. The next 2/3’rds of the trail is after you cross Route 165. It’s definitely not as scenic as the first part. Its been all deforested and you hike out 2 miles or so along this logging route. All along you’ve been on the trail marked by white trail blazers. Then the white markers end and it seems like you hop on the North South Trail, which is blue Trail Blazers, for the return 2 miles. It’s all fine and good till these stop and there are no more markers whatsoever. Poorly marked and difficult to follow the trail as outlined in the app. It probably has to do with all the deforesting that has occurred. Overall a good hike, but would probably just do the first third again.

The beginning is nice, woodsy and some climbing. Second half is a logging road. Would have been better off backtracking, but it is pretty muddy right now, so we stayed in the logging road.

I took the Enduro Trail a little farther up instead of the yellow blazed trail. There was just a couple wet areas. The part around the pond is nice and easy.
