Good hike after a heavy day of rain. Many small waterfalls and two “hidden” waterfalls.
Going counter clockwise is very steep!
Little muddy but the sound of the water flowing is amazing!!
Certain parts of the trailer were covered by the river. I took my shoes off 3 times. The last half of the trail was all muddy. I still had a great time. The views nice. Plus it was nice and quiet. I will be going again.
not too muddy! we went clockwise, so it was mostly uphill but not steep.
Great trail ! Muddy and your feet will get wet so dress them accordingly, chacos worked great. Hiking poles would be great on this trail - I didn’t take any and wished for them. Lots of shade and spots to rest. Trail was clearly defined- highly recommend !!
Great experience for our family. Took about 4 hours for us and our kids to hike.
Mostly forest setting. Muddy at the beginning. Many different surfaces and micro climate zones
Great trail! Lots of greenery & shade.I definitely recommend starting off by going right not left in the loop. There are a lot of rocks & roots on the right side but they’re much easier to navigate going up than down. The left side of the loop is nice & smooth.
Beautiful moderate hike. Very busy on weekends.
We went clockwise. It was about 11 miles to junction then 6.5 out the next day. Very rocky and a lot of steep climbs. Lots of pretty views plenty of water.
Just got done hiking this trail. It was amazing! I think the moderate rating for this is accurate. I saw people of all ages on this trail but there are some big inclines that make it a little more challenging. There are some very muddy areas and a couple streams trickling (very small) that you have to hop or use rocks to get over so make sure you have appropriate footwear on. I forgot bug spray but it didn’t seem to be an issue for me. Parking can be a challenge so be prepared and try to get there earlier in the morning. I started out at about 7:30am and there were only a few other people on the trail. I ended around 9:30am and it was a lot more crowded. Overall this is great morning hike, especially if you’re staying in Waikiki.
good but crowded today with hikers
Beautiful trail with lots of wildflowers. Not very crowded today. Great day.
Mild, couple snakes nonpoisonous, not technical, finish with the lake, no ticks, very few people until get to lake section.
Pretty easy trail. Not much to see but trees! Peaceful.
Good
This is a really well maintained trail! I would come back again. Make sure to reserve your campsite ahead of time. There are only 4-5 sites total.
The trail was a bit muddy but other than that, it was beautiful! If your starting the trail and go to the right side first, prepare for an incline, however, the trees surrounding the trail make it worth it!
This trail is beautiful. There are a bunch of spur trails so it’s good to have a map. Overlooks are all along the trail with bluffs so caution is advised. Some kids were throwing rocks off a bluff above the trail and didn’t know people were walking there.
This is one of my favorite trails in Missouri. Very beautiful and well maintained.
My kids and I loved this hike. Well shaded. A little muddy but it didn’t bother us.
Great trail. Garmin logged as a 15.3, but we did explore some of the interesting rock formations, and the river in a couple of spots. Beautiful scenery. The Redbuds and other trees were in full bloom, not to mention the thousands of wildflowers that were blooming as well. Camped at Rock Hole and enjoyed the sound of the creek as we went to sleep.
Very lovely! All the different scenery made it one of my favorite hikes on a quick afternoon. A lot of muddy areas and some variation in incline/decline/flat along the way. Plenty of shade.
Good trail if you don’t have all day to hike. Beautiful landscape. Mostly an incline
Rocky McRockerson! Just when you think you have walked on a lot of rocks, but wait there’s more! Seriously though it’s is rocky in spots! It’s a fun yet challenging trail in places. Lots of great campsites along the way. We stayed at Junction Camp. There is a beautiful spot all the way at the end. Definitely recommend this trail.
