great trail to challenge your leg strengths. I am a beginner hiker and it was a bit hard. it was worth to see the view on top!

Easy, short hike to pretty waterfalls. Low effort, high yield. Large parking lot right at the trail head. Way too crowded on a weekend though, I passed seriously no less than a hundred people coming and going. Very muddy as well because of recent rains. If you’re coming to Asheville from the east this would be a great pit stop (a couple miles off I-40) but I otherwise wouldn’t go out of my way to hike it again.

Nice easy walk through the woods. Trails were in good condition and well marked. It was wet and a little sloppy in places. My 9 year old had no problems and I managed carrying a 3 year old in a pack.

Beautiful waterfalls and scenery along hike. Ok view at top.

Do the hike several times a month.
Great hike, magnificent view from the rock face.
One of my favorite hikes.

Great hike! Good trail running parts of it as well, especially on the descent. The view was beautiful, but wish there was a bit more to it. Recommend, though!

Great trail for families and fairly easy for older hikers. I’m 59 and had no problems. I even traversed down to the river for a photo opportunity.

Wouldn't rate this as "hard" but decent hike up with a nice view at the end.

Beautiful hike along the river with countless smaller falls. Lots to explore. Very wet so the hiking poles were a big help, but the water made the fall extra amazing! Don’t miss this one!

It was amazzzzing! it was fairly long, taking us about 4 hours, including stopping along the way and at the top. lots of zigzags, and an upwards hike at almost every location on the trail, but the view is totally worth it! you're so high, and youre standing on a stone face overlooking miles and miles of mountains and trees, and it is really just breathtaking. really makes you feel in tune with nature!

Solid hike with a nice reward at the top. The view off the rock face was great. Pretty steady incline the whole way that is not hard. I hoofed it pretty quickly so I actually did feel it a bit the next day.

Overall a nice trip if you are looking for something in between leisurely and challenging that has a unique lookout at the top you will remember. Seemed like a great date hike or family hike.

I went on a beautiful fall day so there was a steady stream of people. Quite a few dogs (maybe 15 or so) making the hike up since the incline is reasonable and no real climbing needed. Almost all were on a leash although two were not - plus there was a sign for a lost dog. :( Sounds like a lot of dogs but over the course of 6 miles it wasnt really much.

Moderate hike. Round trip to the falls was about 1h 45m. Had to scramble over some boulders and roots, some of which were slick during our late-November hike. Totally impressive falls though, and well worth braving the cold!

Great workout on the way up, and the view is worth it!

Did this on a cold day in November with beginner hikers. Great little hike for everyone to an awesome hidden waterfall with photo ops.

The trail isn’t what it once was. The trail is marked as moderate at the trailhead but is actually a little more strenuous than most trails. I’ve hiked this trail for years and year after year the trail is less clear with more large rocks which could easily cause serious bodily harm, such as broken ankles. I’m not sure how all trails can rate this as easy.
All this being said, it is not an easy trail but I do still love to hike it.

Beautiful waterfall. Lots of rocks and roots along the path and a little crowded but it was a weekend! Overall very nice hike!

Super easy trail with an amazing water fall. Avoid this trail on the weekends as it can be extremely crowded. Quick hike with a rewarding view.

This trail delivered just what I was looking for as far as being a bit challenging but nothing crazy and the payoff at the top was amazing ! I went on a Sunday morning , on the way up it was only minimally busy, the rock itself was pretty crowded and on the way back down around 1pm was very heavily trafficked and SO MANY off leash dogs, which would have been fine as long as you don't have a dog reactive dog with you, as my friend did . I would not suggest bringing a dog unless it is extremely well trained and non dog reactive because it appears that off leash dogs on this trail is a big thing .

I would totally do this hike again but probably on a weekday or a colder day to avoid the crowd.

Went today with my 3 little dachshunds. The falls were a beautiful sight to behold. You can only follow the Loop A path right now and then return the way you came after reaching the falls. I initially tried following Loop B but it lead me back to Loop A. After arriving at the falls, another couple had told me that the path leading from the falls and back to the parking lot was closed (to make the actual loop). My dogs and I headed back the way we came.

I would say that at this time of the year, it is more of a moderate hike. You go downhill all the way to the falls, and walk uphill upon your return (since the loop is closed). It is very steep in one section and a little slippery when wet. There are 3 steep stone staircases. Dachshunds’ (hot dogs) backs are not good for going down the staircases so I held two while going downhill. It was a little slippery for me and I consider myself to be really fit with my HIIT workouts and surfing...lol. So be careful and hold the rail. Another person suggested walking sticks, I think that’s a really good idea at this time of year.

Overall it was a breathtaking experience and the people we passed with other dogs, large and small, were SO kind and considerate. We all let each other know when we were rounding corners. My dachshunds get nervous on a leash and we all respected each other’s spaces and were able to flow past each other and share peaceful vibes :)

not horribly difficult. it's is almost completely uphill on the outward leg. lots of springs so the trail gets pretty wet. We did it in tennis shoes and had no issues. amazing view at the end.

Worth the hike. Easy trail and beautiful views. The way in is an upward climb and seemed more moderate to me because I was carrying my toddler in a pack all the way up, so I’m sure it’s much easier than it felt

Beautiful absolutely breathtaking

Beautiful trail and easy to navigate. Definitely worth going the whole way up to the falls. We brought our dogs and they loved it.

AWESOME HIKE! I'm not big on waterfalls but this one is WORTH IT! There are several waterfalls along the trail but the one at the end of the trial is a beauty.

This is probably the most beautiful waterfall that we’ve seen yet and is definitely worth the hike. Going from the campground parking lot take the trail by the amphitheater and you can choose trail A or trail B to begin your hike. Both lead to the falls. For a shorter hike choose trail A and you can back track up trail A after seeing the falls. We had two kids and they were fine with the climb back up after seeing the falls. Be careful toward the bottom of the trail if it has recently rained. The rocks on the trail are very slippery. Overall, this is a fun hike and the benefits of seeing the falls is worth it!

The hike is well worth it! It is recommended for the novice hiker to use a walking stick to help with foot support when walking over the smaller wet rocks located on the trial. Well worth the hike.

We are flatlanders from Florida in our late 50s, early 60s and found this to be a comfortable hike. 2 bridges and one creek crossing. Very few roots and rocks to navigate. Go early to avoid crowds. Sunrise or shortly thereafter. It was crowded on our way out.

Great last min idea to get some outdoor time while vacationing in Asheville. Waterfall is beautiful.

This is a really nice 1/2 day hike. The payoff at the end with the view is really beautiful, especially in the fall. Definitely would suggest making that your lunch spot. I would rate this moderate not hard, at least when comparing it to some other hikes in the region such as table rock. That being said however, it is overall an upwards gradient just about the whole time, but the switchbacks in the first half are generally pretty smooth and gradual which is why I rate it more moderate (I saw young children making it to the top...albeit it took them extra time). Lots of dogs in the trail. It took us 1 hour 20 minutes to get up with one short water break, stayed at the view for about an hour, and then took 1 hour 10 minutes to come back down. Trail was pretty busy, but did go on a Saturday.
