Great hike! Ends up being closer to 9 miles if you do oats peak as well. The oats peak portion is definitely more on the hard side. Pairs well with Coon Creek trail since it's a breeze.

Today we ended up doing the entire Coon Creak trail then climbed Oak Peak Summit. It was such a beautiful hike. It did get really hot towards the peak, so bring a camelback or a Canteen of water. Not much shade at the peak. The views are breathtaking. The Oat Peak is challenging since it is 2 miles upward. The peak ended up being around 110 floors. Enjoy the views!

Great trail. Easy to hike. Great vistas

Gorgeous views from the hill and beautiful beach too; there’s a bathroom and garbage cans at the beach. I think you can camp there with a permit

Fantastic trail, easy, amazing views into the Pacific and Drakes Bay, saw sea lions and even spotted whales off the coast.

It is one of my favorite beach. Beautiful. You can walk or run miles and miles, left and right. Lots of people, kids playing, people riding horses along the beach.

Nice 8.2 mile hike. Some parts are steep, but nothing over the top

The trail is exactly how described with great views at the end.

Rated as moderate but it’s actually a pretty good challenge

We decided to continue hiking on the first trail to the left, about half way on this trail and hiked all the way out to where it comes back out on the lake. It’s only a few miles but the various switchbacks are pretty killer if you go that way and it is not a loop trail. This was a little while before I got the app so I was not ready for it. Very pretty though!

This trail appeared shorter than advertised. The start of the trail is not well marked so it’s difficult to find the trailhead although once underway all other intersecting trails were readily identifiable. The flush toilets at the parking area were a definite plus. I would rate this trail as easy and not moderate.

Too many speedy, rude and cheap mountain bikers! Not a good hike for me.

Beautiful trail (would be amazing in winter and spring when water was running in the creek), but hikers need to be prepared for the amount of climbing or descending (depending on which way you travel). The 1000 feet of elevation change is accomplished over MANY stairs created with wood, dirt, and rock. While I was able to handle the descent, the uneven wood and boulders were tough on the knees and ankles.

Went in summer so it was 90° hot and the waterfalls were quite lacking in water. Still overall pretty interesting hike.

Was there early September 2018 and there was no waterfall at the triple fall. It was all dried up. Overall, the hike was fairly easy.

Good views and mix of shaded/sunny areas but a lot of bikes so make sure to be on alert. Also saw a lot of deers close to the trail.

It's a good beginner trail. Some good views.

Nice shaded paths, pretty much dry this time of year.

Lovely, easy/moderate trail with ocean views. Would love to come back mid-week. Wouldn’t want to do this hike again on a weekend day—too many bikers zooming past. I wasn’t able to get into a rhythm, had to keep stopping to step off the trail to let them pass.

had a great day. dog oneash, kids running in the waves. the isopods were spawnong so the anchovies were out eating the eggs. all the pelicans and sea lions were out to eat the anchovies. amazing feaat of life. we also saw a coyotes and a red shoulder hawk just on the road. because of the restrictions on dogs we drove in except for the last bit to the beach where we walked with packs and had a picnic. totally would reccomend.

Nice trail - better in winter as it doesn’t have much shade

beautiful hike

As an amateur hiker, I found this moderately challenging but satisfying. Lots of incline but with a wonderful view. It was a beautiful scenic route and heavily shaded. Terrain was a bit loose in some areas so the correct shoes for this hike is essential. Parking was a bit confusing and I think we began at the wrong end as we started decline end first. I would not bring my children here however there was a family with small children. Overall, one of my favorites so far, definitely one to do again (in the the spring, when there’s more water)

An easy, pleasant hike with an abundance of wildflowers. White-crowned sparrows greet you from the tall grasses and ravens croak overhead. During the right months of spring or winter, you might see multiple grey whales migrating along the coast. Bring some binoculars and take in the views.
