Very easy trail great for afternoon hike Beautiful view at the top will definitely do this again

Easy trail to begin which then advances to more rocky footing and then at the stream flowing into the pool there are boulders to manoeuvre over. Worth the effort in terms of the views and tranquility near the Petroglyphs. Would definitely hike this trail again.

I hiked this trail for the first time on Wednesday around 4:00pm and it was not at all busy we only saw about 10 other hikers. This is a tough trail in the beginning, lots of steep switchbacks. But, once you get past that part it’s a lot easier and oh so worth it for the views. It’s a gorgeous trail and it was very clean. It can be hard on the knees coming down but we took our time and I would do this trail more often if I lived closer.
My step counter was 11993, 4.4miles, and 111floors.

I recommend starting early. This trail gets busy. It's a good trail for beginners. Beautiful views

WARNING! The trail is great! Security for your vehicle is a 0! We had a great hike but when we returned to our vehicle the back passenger window had been busted out and two purses stolen. The parking lot was full all day with people hiking the trails and still the thieves managed to break in. When speaking with the Sheriff, they informed us that this has been a consistent issue at this trailhead.

My first AZ trail. Its about 60 minutes of gentle uphill with rocky path. A few steps where you need to use your hands for leverage. Great views of the desert and rocky canyon walls. Would do it again!

First part of trail was near houses, and had 2 cattle gates, so not so great a view to start. 2 porta-potty's, no TP. Once you got along the trail a bit it was beautiful, but it's vastly more rocky on the trail than places like Usury, or Lost Dutchman, so you are forced to look down the entire time so you don't trip. Kinda ruins the walking part of the experience. Entire loop was 3 miles, but "distance" indicator above would lead you to believe it's 2.8 miles one-way. No waterfall at end; just a slow drip into a stagnant pond about 20 feet across. Pretty up there, and glyphs were cool, but just not a good hike overall due to the trail condition.

Used to be my favorite trail—beautiful and solid workout. Nowadays it suffers from far too many visitors on it’s narrow trail and too many off-leash dogs and owners who don’t pick up their dog’s poop.

Pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon I wanted to get closer to take better pictures of the petroglyphs but lots of family with kids so I will have to return maybe during the week. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be navigating the trails comfortably, Tips there are port-a potty but had no bathroom tissue, bring water prepare to be to spend a few hours round trip I was there 3 hours

Being recent transplants to Phoenix, we have spent most of our time hiking to the north (Sedona, Oak Creek, Pine/Strawberry, etc.). On a whim this weekend, we decided to give the Superstitions a try, and are we glad we did! This was a perfect hike for a beautiful Sunday afternoon with the family. Our kids, ages 13 and 12, really liked the trail, also... especially the part when we crossed paths with a large Tarantula! Do yourself a favor, and hike this trail!

Such a pretty trail! I’d say it’s on the easier side of moderate, but you can go a bit further at the end to add some climbing if you’d like. Gorgeous views though!

I hiked this trail a couple weeks ago on a Sunday. It was my first ever hike. Was told by many I picked a tough one for my first ever hike. It was very tough for me. Very steep. I stopped quite a bit on the way up. Sometimes to rest others for the many scenic overlooks. Just about everyone was very friendly. It was quite crowded. Some runners too. The top was amazing with great views. There was a couple people on the top of the thumb too.

Really enjoyed this hike, I would rate this a little more on the easy side but still a good hike. Weather was perfect and beautiful scenery!

Greta trail, I hike on average 10-15 miles per week and this was still pretty difficult for me. I stopped a lot but it was so worth it at the top! I went in December and the weather was perfect. Very traveled on the weekends, so best to go early.

Great view of rocks and cacti. Plenty of dirt. Walking in this trail I really felt the history under my feet. Afterwards you’ll be hungry. So good one yes. #goodoneyes

It was a great day on the trail! It’s less sandy and loose rock than other trails we’ve done in the area and that made it easier. Water was flowing at the top and it was so nice to be up there with other hikers.

Amazing!!! Go early. Wear sunscreen and take water!

Weather was perfect and scenery was amazing. Was a fairly easy hike in and out. We went a little higher then the stopping point and that was a bit more challenging. Gorgeous views and not too many people. I would highly recommend this trail.

Was beautiful. Go early ~ less people. As you get into the trail it gets rocky. Wear proper shoes and watch your footing. Was worth the hike.

Lots of rocks. Do not do this with sneakers.

For regular hikers is moderate. If you're not a regular hiker this is a difficult hike. First half is almost all uphill very steep switchbacks. Then a short section of level then another steep climb to the top. Sunscreen & water!

very rocky trail..lots of short switchbacks ..takes a lot of time.start at trailhead for this hike..more mileage from preserve trailhead..go early..lots of water and dont forget sunscreen..I needed some on the way down..had to borrow..great views

A bit of a climb in the first 1/3 then pretty easy to the top. Great views of Scottsdale at the top and Fountain Hills just before the top. Really enjoyable hike.

I feel like I ought to give everyone some info if you’re planning on doing this hike. Plan for 12.2 miles, not 10.7... and a good 8-10 hour day. Park your car at the WAVE CAVE TRAILHEAD. Then drive over to this trailhead and start the hike. You end up coming down the carney springs road which exits the mountains at the wave cave parking lot. Hard trail to follow without this app, which was so helpful, by make sure you bring something to charge your phone a couple of times so that you can have juice the whole way. Bring more water than you think! Trekking across the superstitions for a good 8 miles after you summit the more difficult flat iron gives you a real fatigue in the leg muscles! Didn’t see one soul after flat iron... be careful!!! (Hiked October 2018)

Nice incline for the first 1.5 miles. Breathtaking views. Slippery and steep on the way down. Not for casual hikers.

Recent rains have small stream and waterfalls flowing. Good way to shake the summer lack of exercise. No scrambling and moderate incline.
