Fun hike. It was a little sloshy after noon. Microspikes are fairly necessary.

Wind blown and trail used for back country skiing. Recommend bringing yak tracks and snowshoes because you’ll need each at different points of the trail

did this yesterday (1/20) it was beautiful but so windy and cold at the top. I used my snowshoes up and spikes on the way down. the trail is packed enough that spikes and poles would be fine the whole way. great trail with nice views!

Great day hike from Denver! Used microspikes and that was perfect. Lots of beautiful views! Definitely more of a moderate trail in the winter.

Great loop if you’re in the mood to hike but not kill yourself with ridiculous incline. Beautiful views throughout but the summit by one of the falls is

This trail is a gem not to long but the views is amazing. Today the trail was covered in snow but very passable and just a treat to hike in mid January. I did have my Yaktrax on for traction but probably did not need them with the amount of snow on the trail. It did cost $9 to get into the park and parking is hard to come by. I got there early 9 AM and did not have an issue.

The road was closed about a mile from the trail head but we expected that. It was such a great hike! Definitely dress warm for this time of year and bring good snow shoes. The water was beautiful through the ice and thick trees! I am so excited to see this place in the spring and summer!

amazing winter hike. snow was loosely packed, not icy. I hiked in just boots with good grip. get out here when the snow is fresh, it's stunning!

Beautiful views! Bring some micro spikes because the top has some pretty icy spots right now.

Hiked this trail 4 days ago. It was icy with light snow coverage. I used micros which helped a great deal. The frozen waterfall was beautiful!! A great winter hike. I look forward to doing this hike in the spring.

perfect quick hike, and the views were great! microspikes were very helpful, and it is pretty windy at the top so bundle up!

Quite possibly my favorite hike. The river was so full you could feel the power of the water rushing by. At points the water is overhead. Just amazing.

Late review. We went late summer 2017.

Completed this hike on 1/6/2018 and it was the perfect mid afternoon hike. Not too hard, not too easy in some parts but overall, one of the best day hikes close to the Denver area. The first mile or so will require spikes/yaktrax just to help with the slipping of the snow but the last half mile is not covered and does not require traction. It is always windy at the top so if you plan on spending time up there this time of year, go prepared with some layers. Had an excellent view of the sun setting above Mt. Evans and it probably got better as it continued to set. Parking was easy as there was a lot of it in the designated pull off.

Great hike! Beautiful views throughout this short hike near Boulder. Hop over to Instagram @2_Summit_Up or my website here2summitup.wordpress.com to see more pictures of this awesome adventure.

My first hike in Co. Easy trail and beautiful views! Fairly marked trail, not too much traffic too. Great place for pets too

Nice hike, well marked trail for the most part, beautiful views at the top. doesn't take more than a couple hours to complete the full trip!

It's a good workout with great views. NOTE.... the driving directions via Google maps is NOT the best way to go. Check another map source before you start the car.

Went for a sunrise hike and it was spectacular. 14er views for 1/5 the mileage. Started hiking at the trailhead at 6:15 and made it to the top by 7:10, about 10 min before sunrise(by myself, allow more time for a larger group) I would definitely recommend the early start, the white cap mountains were a burnt red before the sun came up, absolutely beautiful. Snow packed still, yak tracks or snow spikes were a great help, would be slipping the whole way down without them. Expect to be the only party on the trail if you go for the sunrise. “Parking lot” is on the right and the trailhead is off the road into the trees on the left as your driving from Denver. 1

Fun bit of exploring. Read the signs about the historic hotel site . . . Colorado's history is fascinating.

Good views of falls, which aren't magnificent. Take the trail from Allenspark to avoid park closures.

Easy hike near Denver. Falls aren't awesome. Worth a trip to get some Vitamin N.

The park was closed due to government shutdown so it added 5 miles to this hike. Beautiful trail. The hike to the trail was lovely. No part of the entire 10 miles was hard. Didn’t need spikes even and we went on 1/1/19 the day after fresh snow. The waterfall at the top was covered in snow. So not particularly scenic but the trail overall was wonderful. Peaceful winter beauty. Looking forward to spring to see the waterfalls.

Hiked 12/15/18. Went with a friend and we both wore spikes and used poles. It was a gorgeous hike; I've hiked to Ouzel Falls in every season and it is gorgeous every single time. Do you know what an Ouzel is? Google it! And then you'll know what to look for while hiking. Enjoy the waterfalls. Consider extending your hike to Ouzel Lake. It is much quieter once you pass the falls and head to the lake and that's where you'll find your solitude on a sunny summer day so add that to your list, too. #52hikechallenge

Beautiful trail, but it’s really easy to miss the falls. Look for the sign!

Great little hike on a great hiking day. Trail is hard packed so microspikes were all that we needed. Bit windy at the top but that's to be expected. Great woods and great mountain views.

Did this awesome hike today. It’s one of my favorites but the first time in winter. Traction on shoes is very helpful but the trail is packed and very easy to follow. The clouds rolled in so there wasn’t much of a view but it’s still a great way to spend the afternoon! The hike through the trees is beautiful. I’m from Dallas so the altitude makes this a moderate, not easy, hike for me. Be careful on the drive on Squaw Pass Rd. We saw one car in the trees and another one being rescued as we drove out.
