The walk to the trail was beautiful, the destination was easily the best beach I have ever been on. Make sure you explore the north side, you can get pretty far.

I love Crescent beach so much! The views are absolutely breathtaking and it’s nice because there isn’t usually a lot of people there. The hike itself is an excellent workout, just be ready to get a little bit muddy. Also, it’s an amazing place to take pictures (just be ready to lug your equipment there and back).

coming back up from the beach is killer, but beautiful all the way through.

We were lucky based on the other reviews - there was little mud on the trail the day we hiked. We thought it was a fun hike, overall, and we thought the views were beautiful! Take time to stop at the Vista points made by previous hikers that are worth it The destination - Crescent Beach - is also beautiful and we ended up spending more time than we had anticipated down there! Check out the waterfall and the rock cave on the north end of the beach. We passed about six other small groups of hikers along the way, but it wasn’t a problem at all.

The stairs might be challenging for someone with bad knees; there are a few with bigger gaps in a couple of places. In most cases, people have made more manageable steps in the dirt alongside of the built stairs and there are not many of them! Keep in mind that if you drink a lot of water like I do...use the bathrooms before you head out. There’s nothing along the way! Enjoy!

Best stop we made off the Oregon Coast Highway. Super muddy terrain but so worth it.

wayyy too many muggles

Great hike but still closed. Once you pass the sign you can go down the washed out trail to the beach. It is very muddy but a good adventure. Still great views on the open part as well.

Was a fun short hike. A little muddy on the first part of the trail but gets better for the downhill part.

incredible views!
the trail was as muddy as they claim and then some, plan accordingly.

Absolutely stunning views. Beach waterfall at the end. I never minded getting muddy as the views were spectacular.

This is a great place to visit year round. If you want seclusion sit this one out because people multiply by the second when the sun makes an appearance here.

You'll see miles and miles of the most beautiful coastline on the west coast. You need to experience the haystack for yourself just once in your life. You will never forget it.

I'll warn you now this is not the place to be if you're trying to forget about a special someone. The very opposite happened to me here. I fell so madly in love with her that it left an imprint on my soul. I felt as if I was floating in the sky.... This place is a portal to happy thoughts.

If you want to experience something unforgettable just come and experience the haystack for yourself.

If you're lucky enough to get a good picture of a puffin on your walk please share it.

Great parking and restaurants in the area so bring the entire family.

I was mesmerized by the beauty & scenery at Indian Beach that I wanted to check out this hike the next day. Heading out to the site to hike wasn’t too bad for a holiday weekend. I traveled late afternoon to beat any crowds- which seemed more people were leaving after 3pm. (Due to limited parking at Indian Beach & around the park, if you want to head out earlier- I have been told to secure a parking place you will need to be there between 7-8am.) The hike was a bit steeper in some spots than I thought. So, if you aren’t used to steep hikes- take your time. The path is a bit narrow too & didn’t seem long from parking lot to the beach. There is plenty of area to walk or run at the beach & fun for all to camp/picnic once you arrive. Close to high tide, it’s enjoyable to watch the waves crash into the rocks. Beautiful picture opportunities there.

A great little hike. The beach was very private. There were only a few other hikers there.

Very nice ride for a family with little kids. Our 5 year old enjoyed it. He made it about 9 miles.

Get out early. We arrived at the park (there’s a $5 parking fee, btw) around 9 am and there were maybe 3 cars in the lot. When we left 2+ hours later it was over half full.

Good for kids and pets. Easy for any age group.

Beautiful views

I take parts of this trail daily it’s easy & pretty. Ive spotted lots of deer, shore birds, whales and bald eagles depending on the season.

Great views despite the fog. Went on a weekday to avoid heavy traffic. The descent to the beach is steep.

Somewhat steep and tricky descent to the beach, and challenging (for me) coming back up, but totally worth it! We had the beach completely to ourselves and enjoyed exploring. Started on the trail at about 8 and only saw 1 person until we were heading back to the parking lot around 9:30.

Amazing trail. Loved it. We loved the cove at the far end of the beach. Definitely coming back.

Crowded but beautiful beach. You have to stop for a few photos at the least.

This trail can be challenging near the beach where it is steepest, but it’s worth it if you are going to enjoy the beach for a bit. The beach was almost empty when I hiked to it.

Great forested hike including a grand tree. The destination provides a stunning view of the surrounding area including Saddle Mountain.

This route isn't clear. From the map it appears to simply be a walk along the beach. When Mom and I went, it was not possible to walk past the first beach because the tide blocked the way. Instead, we wandered on the primitive trails along the cliffs above the beach. If some of those trails were marked better and cleared of brush they would form a better route for this "hike." The exploration was still enjoyable.

It's a nice beach but over the years it has gotten pretty crowded, but it is expected for a beach as nice as this one :) for a less crowded beach you would have to walk or bike southwards!

Its pretty great walk, but keep in mind it is a bird reservation as well, and everything on the rock or around it is a live organism so watch your step!
