Great trail. Keep yours eyes on the tree markings. Some points that is the only indication of trail to forest.

HikingMuddySnow

Went on 3/6, a cloudy windy day around freezing. Lots of snow left, pretty deep in many places, but it was pretty hard packed. the north trail had a couple fairly icy exposed sections and it was often hard to find the trail. I'd recommend trekking poles and maybe even crampons eg microspikes. If you go on a warm sunny day anytime soon, expect lots of mud and slush

Lots of deep post holing on the north scenic trail. Pretty brutal

Awesome, beautiful views, not an easy climb for beginners but great hike for in shape hikers. Definitely a great day.

Fun day on the trail! Took North Trail back. Super windy and cold, icy sections so be careful. The views were so worth it!

HikingGreat!

This is an astounding trail! Can’t speak highly enough of the views and serenity, plenty of parking, lots of varied terrain, and not completely isolated - there always seemed to be someone every mile!

Great incline for the first half; about 1600ft up and then gorgeous views accompanied by a nice steep decline.

Arrived at the parking lot (around 20 spots) at 9:30am and there were a few people there already. Ran into only a couple people (most not wearing masks, even when passing on narrow paths) probably because it was a weekday. Very happy with this hike. Blazes are well marked, paths are rocky but clear. I suggest going clockwise so the steeper climb comes first. The rocks along the path are pretty solid, where as the rocks towards the end of the loop are a bit more loose. Plus you'd end the long 7 mile hike on some flat ground before heading back to the parking lot. Fantastic views along the North and LNE trails. Plenty of spots with clear views and I see lots of areas where campers have set up fire pits along the way. There was a hunter with a rifle where the Appalachian trail meets the North Trail. He let me know there were 3 others hunters in the area looking for deer. Good mix of rocky, smooth, steep, and level paths. Loved the various scenery.

Very fun! I took it clockwise to save the views towards the end. The whole trail is pretty rocky, good boots and poles are helpful. The first 2 miles or so are on an incline but it flattens out for a bit at the top of the trail. Great views, definitely recommend for a day trip.

Did this trail with plenty of snow still down, thankfully some others had already trekked through so the trail could be easily followed. I did the trail backwards, if following the path the app tells you to, so the D&L trail first and then up the charcoal trail to the north trail. The hike up the mountain is a tough one but absolutely worth it once at the top of the mountain. You can see for miles and miles on end and typically it's a less traveled path from my experience, so you'll get it all to yourself. The hike down the mountain was a bit steep and slippery, so good footing and shoes are a must! Overall, one of my favorites around and it always has me coming back.

Nice 5 mile loop. Lots of rocks, steep incline, flattens at the top. Saw a few hunters. Fog was dense. Down hill seemed harder on my knees navigating between rocks. Friend fell flat on her butt, ouch. Dog had a good time. Great parking lot but some dog jumped on my car door and scratched it. Trail was well marked but it was still easy to get off trail. Thanks for this app.
