Tallow Rock Trail 2.0
With no snow on the ground I decided to hit this trail again and it did not disappoint. As per this time of the year boots over sneakers are a good idea and the ground cover was very slippery and somewhat wet. The bridge is still in so I was able to complete the entire loop again, and was able to take the side trail to Covey's gap to the look out. What I call the second portion of the trail from the beach was very icy as it was low and flat. This shorter trail has less hills and less strenuous but I had to take more caution. This is the trail used my most families and dog walkers. Still hoping for snow to snow shoe.

Love trail

Beautiful trail. Amazing view from top. Lots of water on bottom and lots of snow on top. Awesome day!

To date my most favorite hike. The provincial park was closed so there was no fee. You park at the gate and walk a short distance to the discovery centre where the trail head begins. After walking over some nice boardwalks you can then pick your trail. The Quiddity, a short in and out 2.4 kms or the Tallow Rock East or West. I took the east and have to say I was not disappointed. The entire trail was very well marked. Lake views, forest, beaver damns, as well as beautiful little bridge that linked 2 islands. The Tallow Rock loop is 10k but as suggested I took the Bachs look out detour. The highlight of the hike. The views are def worth the extra 1.5 k. It was a great place to lunch and rest for the remaining 5 k. Next major stop was Hollow Rock bay, a picnic area, porta potty and what looks like a sandy beach. Just beautiful. The remain 4 kms are meadow and forest. No water views. I hike for exercise and this was pretty much just a flat walk out through the forest, but given the length of this trail and the constant up and down it was a nice easy walk. I cannot wait to go back

Very beautiful view !!

Beautiful low-intermediate trail with amazing trees and shrooms! Did it in winter and end of summer, very different hike. Not many point of views but still a must.

Did the loop back at the 4.5 mark which made this a fantastic 9km hike. Loved the moss walls and views.

Superbe endroit.

Amazing hike!!! Narrow trail with rocks, tree stumps, a little mud...exactly like I love them. Worth it if you like a good long hike. Just be careful as trail now offers a loop to go back to start point.

We hiked the east leg first with several stops for scenic lookouts and a ~1.5km detour up to Bach's Lookout (which was WELL WORTH the effort!) This made our overall hike 14.4 km from the Discovery Center.
I agree with a previous commenter that the east is the best way to begin. A little technical at first but you're nice and fresh, with a lovely gradual descent on return.
I loved the diversity of flora and geography we were treated to! What stunning landscapes. Trail was very well marked and despite a mega storm the night before, wasn't mushy at all. A surprising lack of bugs. Perfect hike!
