Beautiful sanctuary hidden in the middle of the city. Take a walk while learning sustainable horticulture practices! Excellent for tourists and locals alike.

A bit muddy in parts, will need gortex lined boots to comfortably complete full trail. Almost no snow left,. Trail may get muddier in the next week or two because still some frost under the muddy parts.

Beautiful trail, a bit wet but very easy, mais que nous sommes chanceux!

Really enjoyed it

Beautiful walk in the city.

Very pleasant.

Gorgeous homes in the area to check out, lots of historical buildings. Great walk. Like a small village.

Great easy trail. Kiln ruins are interesting.

A historical trail with well marked trails. Slightly rocky in spots with a mix of forest, hills and fields. Seats long the way for a pause if needed. Posted map boards very helpful. Hike was in the beginning of April with very icy trails. Intend to visit again in warmer weather when trails are more navigable and histoical facilities are open. Very nice with a fair amount of family hiking use.

Good short outing with kids.

Reasonably flat. One gentle incline near the beginning.

Mostly crushed gravel or boardwalk over the marsh.

Signs with maps at reasonable points.

Large willow trees along the path make good climbing for kids or sitting to rest.

A few benches along the way.

Outhouse and picnic benches near parking lot.

Would be 4 stars if not for the road noise.

Went on our first hike of the year and we're both beginners, had a ton of fun but it's still covered in snow. Some areas are very wet still, very fun beginner trail that was a good distance. Bring water!

I wasn't sure how the trail would be with the warmer weather this past week. It was great! The slushy, melted snow made for great resistance and there were several spots of ground to tread on to break from the resistance of the snow.

Easy and quiet walk in winter.

Better for cross country skiing than snowshoeing but enjoyable all the same. River was frozen over well so we were able to venture out!

nice easy walk.

Nothing wow but pleasant enough trail. Very flat and new growth mixed forest.

Two things stand out: the lake is pretty impressive considering this is a lake smack near the Kanata suburbs; the portion of the trail near the "North Dogsled" intersection is a lot rockier and more hilly. I would give that part 4 stars.

The area seems mostly promoted as a place for mountain bikers (there were lots of fat tire cyclists when we went) but we saw lots of walkers too.

We found street parking off 2nd line road. There are a couple of entrances.

Lots of red squirrels!

Great walk and nature area

It was mostly packed snow when I went. parking spaces were limited.

Very nice trail for cross country skiing but the snow was a bit too compact for snow shoeing. I recommend going just after a heavy snowfall if you want to do snowshoeing.

The trail was great! We made sure to not walk on the Cross County ski paths(it was super easy to stay off their tracks), but still encountered a very unpleasant vocal skier . Being considerate and respectful goes both ways ☺️
Please remember it’s a multi-use trail!

Love this trail! So beautiful in the fall but just all in all a great trail to bring the dog! Highly recommend if you’re looking for a nice walk, not too long!

Second time completing this trail. Last time Was in the summer and bugs are overwhelming but in the late fall it’s quite nice. The return path on the other side of Ridge Road is low and extremely wet even without recent rain.

I wish the bridge wasn’t closed off to the public, it’s so intriguing!

Mid autumn walk - through woods and along the river accented by a large flock of geese. Part of trail is still washed out due to spring flooding, so expect to detour part of the trail between P2 and Davidson Side Rd. Lovely area with autumn colours.

Reading all these posts and complaints of the highway noise makes me think: did you buy a home in the east end and commute to work; how did you get to the trails. wow

Not a bad little walk. It had some pretty areas. It was a very close to the highway and the loud traffic threw off the experience a little.

Nice leisurely hike where one can see lots and lots of dogs! I’m not sure this is actually the Sarsparilla Trail though. On other maps it shows it as being next to Old Richmond Road, not here. You can even see it on the map board in the park.

Relaxing hike on a well maintained and marked trail with plenty of lookouts.

Great place to walk or ski but eerily quiet.
