Great hike. Excellent workout on the first 1.5 from Chuckanut or so, given the steep incline. Good trail and views from Samish viewpoint was nothing short of spectacular.

Hiked this trail during a slightly over cast day in Jan. Still worth it for the views at Samish overlook and the brief clearing we got at the top of Oyster Dome. No 4x4 vehicle needed to get to the trailhead, just take it easy and you should be fine. :)

Nice walk!

Nice hike close to the house.

A very serene trail that follows the shore of Lake Whatcom. This is a great hike to do in the afternoon when the sun lights up this side of the lake. I'd say this hike is much more quiet and scenic than Lake Padden, but it is further away.

Nice view along the lake but the view doesn’t change. Easy stroll I could do thru the neighborhood

Nice trail, soothing lake views the whole way. would love to do this in summer!

There are two trail heads. The bottom one will give you more miles and it’s worth the climb.

I took my dog hiked all the way to the main lookout yesterday. Started at 11:30 AM and back to the car at 3:30. Gorgeous day shared with quite few people on the main lookout. But I was so disappointed when I got back to the car. My back trunk window was shattered and my purse was stolen out of my car. This happened during daylight! My Orange Subaru Crosstrek was parked just a few cars away from the restaurant Oyster Bar on Chuckanut Drive. This is sucks!! So please don’t leave any valuable in your car. Take it with you!! I learned valuable lesson here. But other than that I still love hiking up to Oyster Dome.

Its a beautiful hike, short, steep great views. Really nice at the top. My only negative is all of the off leash dogs; they aren’t cute, please leash your dog or leave them at home.

This is a neat hike, all up hill to the lake but worth it! .9 miles to the Puget Sound view point, 2 miles up to the lake, .75 mile loop around the lake, and toward the back of the lake there's a trail leading back to a waterfall, I'd say about .5 mile downhill to that. I recommend doing it all! About 5-5.5 total. On Chuckanut drive there's a small pull off directly across from the Larrabee camping area, you can park in either, discover pass required. Remember it's tough getting up, but all downhill from the lake to the car! We did it with a 4 year old mini hiker :)

Nice fall hike. Great trail and amazing mushroom species, but the lake itself isn’t that great.

Just the right length. Beautiful trees.

This was an amazing little walk. View was spectacular. The sun came out on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of January so the short trail was a bit crowded. I can just imagine how crowded it can get in the summer. Even the beachfront houses were a sight to see. Would love to go back.

Went yesterday with my dad and our dogs. Started our hike at 8:30am. We started the hike from chuckenut on the hwy so it was the 7.9 mile hike compared to 5 miles from the samish outlook. Trail was in pretty good shape.
I’ll say if you start at the hwy and not samish outlook those extra miles are nothing buck switch backs going up. My legs are so sore today.

Easy and pleasant.

Had a bit of difficulty on the trail around the larger of the twin lakes. Had to scout for the trail a few times, and a bit of it was pretty hairy where part of the trail has fallen away. Overall though a wonderful hike with beautiful views of lakes, forests and every kind of moss you could imagine. We encountered families with small children, trail runners and many people with dogs hiking around the popular Mountain Lake Loop.

Who else saw the bear today!? We could hear another group whistling, clapping etc. for about 3 min ahead of us! He/she scooted up the gully across from us PDQ but was visible for about 10 seconds or so before it disappeared into the under growth. Great hike and outstanding scenery! Trail in great condition and anyone could make the trek

Gorgeous clear day to see beautiful scenery all the way up. great view of northern Cascades. Probably more an easy than moderate hike...mostly consistent pitch with some rest flats. Icy but no snow.

Beautiful fall hike with deers and chip monks. Outstanding vegetation and moss. :)

quick super easy hike. tons of people out and about. overall great easy hike

Fantastic view at the top! There was so much to see that it was difficult to resist the urge to keep exploring.

A nice moderate hike with great views at the top! A decent elevation gain and dense forest to hike through.

Beautiful Hike better to go early morning. We crossed the border and was at the trail head by 5:30 am.
We went mid October no snow sun was out. Trail marked very well, but at the beginning hard to see in the dark even with our head lamps. But as you enter the parking lot the trail entrance is to your left. I brought the dog..she loved it.
For sure will go again.

Good hike, finished in about 3.5 hours just to the lake and back from the lower parking lot. Gravel road but you don’t need a 4x4, and the trail head is a bit hidden. Overall the trail was in good condition, and a nice little lake.

Very nice and peaceful loop trail around Lake Padden, it takes me about 45 minutes to walk all the way around. The trail is really popular, but is plenty wide to handle it.
