Really great trail that doesn't take all day. Perfect level for people just strarting to hike and arent in perfect shape. The entire trail is in the shade and is just beautiful. Takes just over an hour walking.

Nice hike to a nice lake that’s perfect for swimming!

trail running

Relatively flat and easy for trail running. Great for beginners and those who just want to take it easy. Awesome views and lots of spots for cooling off after running in the heat!

Easy to access but there is no formal trailhead so parking is just off the side of the road. The trail is well laid out and offers links to other trails. Beautiful little lake. I was glad to have the fully paid app as I wandered onto another trail and needed to rely on the app to gat back on track.

mountain biking

The mountain biking is closer to moderate than easy but doable for our whole family and really fun! Warning...it’s a bit confusing following the trails but getting lost isn’t a big deal since it’s just a series of intertwining loops and connector trails. Anacortes bike shop has a detailed map (even though no one at the shop has actually mountain biked there). Cranberry lake is a beautiful little lake!

Good, simple hike. As of 8/13/2018 it is very smokey. You can still see the mountains but not as clearly as I wanted to.

Really liked this trail. It was a good workout to the lake. Had our friends dog with us and only encounter hikers on our way up to the lake. We were at the lake alone. A great hike and very well marked.

great training hike.
From Chuckanut it is much more difficult than from the upper parking lot or from the parking lot at barrel springs road.
great view from the top.

Uphill but paths are nicely maintained. It takes about 30 minutes to get from the parking lot to the Sugarloaf viewpoint.

A very easy day hike, or stay over. It's worth walking over to Lower Curtis Glacier, though it's a bit more difficult and some rock scramble. Swim in the icey Lake on a hot day. Very refreshing.

Hiked this on Aug 10. I would say it's an easy hike until you hit the boss creek towards the end. Took some courage to cross. Use water shoes and hiking poles to cross or hike up to the top of the creek and then cross. Once pass the fall, 10 min later you will see the amazing glacier. Be careful of loose rocks, that's the hard part of the trail.

nice beach

Great experience... Black bear encounter 1/4 mi into the trail... loud rustle in the bushes above us 2 hikers... Bear looked straight at us for a second, veered away above trail...adrenaline pumping.

4th water crossing around noon time challenging... water very loud, fast, and good downward angle.

Several years ago this was a nice and quiet trail if you wanted to go on a stroll, now it’s so overpopulated.

moderate 2.2 miles up with a few spots to swim. water is warm. mosquitos are out. if you find a gray lululemon ballcap, you can keep it :)

Beautiful hike. Accessible for our 6 and 4 y.o. boys. Our only regret was that the pond is not accessible from the trail.

Did this trail today. Found the trail easily marked and easy to follow. The trail itself was easy to navigate and the elevation grew slowly enough to be an easy hike. Three 6 year olds and a 4 year old managed the climb, and two kids made it in back carriers (the back carriers are convenient, but beware of trail obstacles you may need to crawl under af times). .

Mosquitos were bad at the lake, and the lake wasnt clear for swimming at all (my dog stuuuuunk after his dip). Was a bit disheartened by the number of off-leash dogs we encountered as well as owners not picking up after their pets.

My garmin logged well over the 9kms (closer to 13 to the lake).

Would do again. The views of the valley between the trees are gorgeous.

Did this hike today. Was feeling good so I went on around Lake Chadsey and on up to the Sumas summit. I ended up logging 9.6miles (15.45km). About 3000 feet (914m) in elevation climbed. This was all according to the Garmin watch. I stopped at the lake which was empty for a rest and foot soak. This was a beautiful hike. All in all it took 4 hours at a fairly strong pace. I would plan for 4 hours to get to the lake and back. Canada is beautiful!

Stunning views around every corner! My sister and I hiked on a foggy day which made for some amazing photos. The mountain run off made waterfalls all along the way. Towards the top, the wildflowers were popping out everywhere! It was gorgeous! Bring water proof shoes to cross the rapid streams! Trekking poles are also helpful.

very easy, but slightly steep going up. bring your bathing suits...saw many people enjoying the lake.

Beautiful great views of Roosevelt glacier
Be prepared to get your feet wet

Great walk/run/jog/bike ride...a few spots with elevation but doable for all people. out of shape or not

Super fast and easy trail but...oh such views!

great beach walk.. a little too busy on weekends though. I'd avoid it on weekends if you don't like crowds

This hike has it all. Ice melt Rivers to cross, glaciers to see, and unreal views of the Cascades and Mt Baker. I highly recommend this one and will be hiking it again very soon!

absolutely gorgeous! very peaceful. heads up that people break into cars here... we saw evidence of that today. :(

Great Hike Fun crossing the creeks.
Saw a few Marmots

Great views from up top
Bugs were pretty thick:)
