pretty empty, but have the app open and follow the route since it's easy to continue on paths you're on and get off track

Beutiful view! I went in the summer with my family, and it wasn't that hard. Easy for kids, too. But if you go in summer, theres a lot of places with no trees, so it's really hot. But the view is worth it. The lake is beautiful!

Conditions were really deep and slick! You can’t even see the trail map and sign as it was buried in the snowpack. We attempted to follow some backcountry skiers and got led into the backcountry off trail. Once we stumbled back, at some point sliding 5 - 20 feet down the mountain (DONT recommend) the trail was difficult to navigate, if at all. Wait for the snow to melt off before attempting this one again. Snowshoes essential, unless you’re a pro on spikes.

After parking I walked across the street and stepped into the snowpack. Not too much post holing in the beginning but ended up having to turn around under two miles in because I didn’t think I’d need my snowshoes. Don’t make the same mistake I did! I was accompanied by snow flurries and light winds but it was still an enjoyable experience. I will probably be returning (with snowshoes!) for a redemption run.

Beautiful, but challenging trail. Didn’t make it all the way to the lake do to the conditions.

Snowshoes are definitely a must for this hike right now. We started around 11a with microspikes and the snow was pretty packed until the 2 mi mark when we had to turn around. Right at where the switchback starts on the AllTrails map is when we found ourselves hip-deep in the snow with each step so we couldn't continue. On the way back, the snow was a lot softer due to the afternoon sun and it was quite difficult to get back without occasionally sinking. The trail was also a little difficult to follow because there are a multiple routes that people have carved out so make sure to have the map handy. It was a cool experience to hike in the snow for the first time and I will definitely be coming back more prepared.

It's noisy, being right on top of the 5. And it's a little dirty/trashy. The west loop in Elysian is a far better hike but this one is a nice break from the routine. Note that half of what's marked on here just follows the road, and it's annoying to be next to cars. So you can just walk the trail part along the freeway side and then come back the same way.

Urban hike for sure. Pretty great view of the city...heard shots fired from LAPD academy, saw dodger stadium and Elysian park on the way. Lots of graffiti and trash but I guess we kinda expect it in LA unfortunately. Got a little lost like others using the app..dirt trail to start out from stadium way and then quite a bit of road walking (I kept thinking maybe there was a dirt path paralleling the road?).

Looked great with snowshoes, except that there were explosions in the area for avalanche control, so we left. Five stars for potential.

Great short hike! Interesting people and views along the way. Not sure why other users said this was hard to follow as it couldn’t have been easier with AllTrails. This wasn’t sketchy either. A good mix of dirt trails and roads with plenty of room to stay away from cars.

A tricky trail with great views of downtown LA and the San Fernando Valley. Tricky in the sense that the trail is difficult to follow, not because it is hard to find the trail, but because there are so many trails it is hard to figure out which one is heading to the place at which you want to end up. The trail was moderately trafficked and does follow along the street and in traffic as there are no sidewalks - but drivers were respectful and there wasn't too much vehicle traffic on a Sunday morning. The trail has sweeping views of the eastern San Fernando Valley and follows along and above I-5 for a stretch. It was interesting to see the police academy and the Dodger Stadium parking lot set up for covid vaccine delivery. The views from Angels point are worth the hike. Like others have pointed there is graffiti along the trail, which made for an interesting blend of urban along parts of the trail that not for the graffiti you could have felt as though you were miles from a city.

An easy trail to get good views of LA. Completed in about 2.0 hours. Make sure track progress on AllTrails map as some of the segways get tricky.
