Been hiking to this lake since I was little. Last summer was my eighth summer trip there backpacking for 3-4 nights. Absolutely perfect and one of my favorite places on Earth!

This was my first summit! a beautiful and exhilarating hike.

Very easy hike to a swimming hole and beautiful waterfalls. Seems secluded which was great because of less folks. You have to drive a dirt road going here so be careful.

This was a short and beautiful hike. The drive to the trail head is pleasant and not the least bit difficult.

Friend & I went on a backpacking excursion into the Boulder Lakes area of the California Trinity Alps wilderness. This was an easy hike to the first lake & camp clearings. Within a mile or two of this lake, you can find 4 more small lakes & hike a ridge that overlooks it all. From the base of the ridge you kind find trails connecting in all directions. Some great hikes connect through this trail system including the Pacific Crest Trail. Make camp & hike till you drop. Video on my YouTube- thatDADclint.

This was a nice easy hike, although we did encounter some mosquitoes in the beginning, so be sure to have some repellent as they seem to be friendly creatures! Some nice views of the lake, and you could see the smoke in the air from the Carr Fire.

I enjoyed the hike this trail provided. Being close to the lake make sure you spray yourself with insect repellent

Amazing. Just amazing. So many different lakes and trails. You could stay out there for weeks.

Pretty crazy drive up a steep mountain, and even crazier coming down. Make sure to keep your car in low gear or your brakes will start to burn.

Also, the AllTrails app isn't super accurate to get to the trailhead here. Google maps doesn't realize the road runs all the way up (it's a pretty bumpy old logging road) so it's hard to navigate it with your phone. Best advice would be to drive into Weaverville and follow the signs for the trailhead from there. Just take Weaver Bally Road all the way up to the top.

As for the actual hike, it was pretty nice, but the descent from the ridge to the lake takes longer than it should. Super rocky and some switchbacks. Lake is tiny and not deep, freezes over in winter so the fish can't survive. We fished it for a couple hours and didn't get anything.

Nice drive up to trailhead (got lots of elevation gain). Hike was really easy- not sure why it was rated as Hard.

Beautiful lakes. We went here last minute to escape the Carr fire smoke. Great to be up above the smoke that drifted into the valleys.

No fish at Russian Lake

Beautiful hike, beautiful lake! We day hiked to Campbell Lake from Summit Lake where we were camped. The trail was easy, but steep and rocky in places. Some of the junctions were well marked, others not so much and that got a bit confusing. However, the lake is great for swimming and had several nice campsites. A good size creek was flowing into the lake as well. We even got to watch two Bald Eagles fish in lake. That was a great surprise!

Absolutely beautiful area! We hiked in from Lovers Camp TH and spent one night at Sky High Lakes. The second and third nights we spent at Summit Lake with a day hike to Campbell Lake. And the fourth night we hiked into Red Rock Valley and camped near a meadow and creek confluence. Despite part of the trip being on a weekend, we didn't see all that many people and it was very peaceful. Our trip was at the end of June and the mosquitoes weren't nearly as bad as other mountain lakes I've camped at. I loved the variety of the terrain, the views, and the wildflowers were stunning.

best swimming spot around ❤

Beautiful hike and lake. I followed the directions which the directions Icon gave me on this website and it took me a longer back way. It was very rocky, rutty road. Luckily I drive a jeep. Follow the sign on HWY 3 that says Boulder Lake trail. Big brown sign. I went back the correct way and it was way smoother and faster.

July 2018 - 6.5 mile gravel road in off Eagle Creek Loop, don't need 4WD, just be mindful of the rocks and make sure you have a spare tire. Stay on the main gravel road and you will find your way easily. Trail starts further up the road than All Trails map has the trailhead at. Beautiful scenery and meadows, trail is rocky in some places but overall I'd put it on the moderate side of easy. Several springs along the way. I'm not sure if the loop is still a loop, I went out and back the long way around. Beautiful, deep lake with many well used campsites. Temp good for swimming. I loved this lake's modesty. It has everything you love about the Alps without being too showy. Will be back!

Easy trail with a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole at the bottom. Only con is that there is a lot of litter!

Lots and lots of flies and mosquitoes camped by the outlet stream 7-2018.

Went on 7/7/2018. Easy to find, well maintained forest service road. I would rate as easy because the incline is so gradual. Wildflowers were nearing the end, but thousands of butterflies along the creek, probably because of the blooming milkweed. I believe they were Acmon Blues. Because of the westerly wind direction, no smoke from the Klamathon fire. Forest, meadows, creeks, waterfalls, pristine lake. What more could one ask for?

Good place

beautiful place to go.

Great hike with stunning views. VERY steep and rocky at times and pretty hairy. Watch where you step :)

Beautiful! Trail well maintained, clean, and tons of wildflowers in bloom right now! We went on the 4th of July 2018. Great place for all ages!

Cool walk, but trail quality is not all that great

Or would be hiking. I’m sure the trail is beautiful but it’s $6/day to use this area, even with a Recreational Lands Pass (its some kind of special recreational permit). Sorry, but there are lots of beautiful places around here that are free. We got out, got right back in, and won’t be back.

It's a must to visit!
Love this place.

Loved this hike. Beautiful!! Loved being close to the PCT too!

Went backpacking here, & thoroughly enjoyed it! Short hike, uphill for most of the way there, then a descent into the basin. Camped at Boulder Lake. Very serene. Climbed Tapie peak. Lovely views!

This is one of my favorite spots! Super short hike, but the falls fill your heart! :) The water is pretty cold. Fun to walk down the creek a bit. Love this one!!!
