Phenomenal hike!!! It was warm and sunny in January!!! Lots to see in the first and gorgeous views of the cape and ocean! There some slight up and down. There were some muddy spots but kind of fun to try and get over. At least that’s what my 12 year old step son said. Bring good hiking boots. Great for the family!_

Went on a Cold Sunday morning hike. We took the Kopetski trail loop and came around the back side of jawbone flats. No worries you end up on the same trail you start on. We started our hike at 11 AM and got done at 2:15 PM. We only saw two other groups of hikers until we started to head back, then it was a bit more crowded, but no problem as it’s not nearly as bad as the summer time. Dress warm/layers as you are hiking in a canyon that gets very little sunlight and it’s cold until you warm up from hiking. We stopped for a small lunch at jawbone flats and had to layer back up before we got going again. Love this place. BRING CASH OR CHECK for parking. And if you can spare it, the town takes donations too, and once you see how pristine they help keep the town and trails you’ll want to donate. Great hike for all ages and skills but the Kopetski Loop is a little more rugged and step, would not recommend for little ones or people with old knees. Enjoy.

Arrived at 8am on a Sunday to only a few cars in the parking lot. Did the full loop with my dog and was back at my car by 10:45am. Passed a few people on my way up but otherwise only came across one other person the entire hike, until I got back to the junction and went the last mile ish back down the main trail, at which point there were lots more people and a full parking lot.

Towards the top parts of the trail were quite wet, some patches of snow all over the top but not much. It was extremely windy - actually quite dangerous considering some of the ridges. My 30lb dog was blown about five feet sideways and I thankfully had her on the leash. The guts would’ve knocked me over if I weren’t braced against them. I recommend avoiding this hike if the Gorge is windy on arrival.

The upper half of the hike has a lot of rocky / semi-scrambling parts. Hard on the knees but nothing like Munra Point or some other areas of the Gorge. I imagine these areas would be tricky if the ground were at all icy.

Overall great hike, good views at the top. Just get there early to avoid crowds.

The full loop is a TOUGH 8 mile hike with elevation of 2200 incline and decline. Amazing views and worth every minute. Dog friendly.

One of the most beautiful hikes in Oregon. Jawbone Flats is an incredible site to see.

This was a great hike. It was very windy but nice and sunny!

Hiked June 15, 2018 for the first time. Trail is muddy and slippery in quite a few spots. The trail surface is very irregular- lots of tree knobs and roots so that you had to watch your feet at all times. It might be an easy hike by elevation gain, but the condition of the trail, and attention needed, definitely makes this trail a moderate. The view is beautiful at Cape Falcon.

Hiking this trail in the winter is the way to go if you want to skip the crowds. It was the perfect little hike for a winter day.

Kicked my butt, but it was an amazing hike with wonderful views. Did it New Years Day, parking wasn’t full even at 10am. Saw a decent number of people. We brought our 75lb Shepherd/golden mix and highly recommend booties for any dogs on the mountain, especially near the top. We put his boots on around 1.75mi up the mountain when the chain link became prevalent on the ground. Bring lots of snacks, the elevation is harder than it seems! Be careful of ice covering the path near the top. Would love to go back again.

The waterfall is beautiful. I have gone there many times and every time it continues to blow my mind. The falls and hike change with the seasons. Beautiful beautiful.

Dog review: This trail was the perfect length for a moderate outing. Took my four dogs and I about four hours. The way up can be a little sketchy with dogs because it’s steep and slippery this time of year. My guys have great leash skills so getting everyone up steep switchbacks and walking on narrow areas wasn’t a problem, but could be for a dog in training or inexperienced pup. Though the trail up has a couple steep switchbacks, the way down is wide and even suitable for horses, VERY easy if you have dogs. Way up is alright as long as you have good control. Only a few rocky areas, no booties needed for my guys. Lots of puddles and streams so you can pack less water than normal for the pups.

Fun hike on New Years Day. Not at all crowded early but quite a few people later in the day making their way up.

Went beginning of Jan when it was in the mid 40s. Not too muddy and no micro spikes needed.

Had some great views but the last 1.2 miles is just road. If you turn around at the waterfall to do an out and back it’d probably be something like 10 miles. Didn’t encounter cars on the road though which was good.

Not worth so much mud. The trail is in poor shape because it sees heavy use and is naturally muddy. The end viewpoint is nice, but no better than the many nearby roadside pullouts on 101. Not bad, but very, very average.

Beautiful and easy enough for a family. I captured vid with my drone. Here's a link to it.

i went out a couple weeks ago, and could not drive to the bottom. i have a lil sedan, so i just pulled off the side of the road and parked. even parking a ways up, the hike was totally worth it! the road down is a lovely walk.

Good hike. The early on waterfalls after 1 mile in were the highlight of the hike for me. A little muddy due to the rain around this time of year.

I’d rate it as moderate-hard.

hiked this in July 2018. get to the trail Head before 9am or you don't get a parking spot on summer weekends. the hike is doable for most. gorgeous views but really crowded on the weekends.

Such a beautiful hike!!! I’ve done it a few times now lots of fun..

Didn’t plan on doing at 7 miles. But it was a beautiful loop!! Went through the old mining areas which was cool. Not many swimming spots.

Amazing! Such a spiritual experience!!!

My favorite Oregon hike to date, and I’ve been hiking here about 15 years.

Really pretty trail, and not too crowded. There was quite a bit of mud but that’s to be expected, and the views at the end are fantastic!

My boyfriendand i had an amazing time. The hike was beautiful and serene. We took the back way thats straight up. We also had that trail all to ourselves.

Did this back in the beginning of September and wasn't too shabby. Easy enough for my friend to do it in crocs. Took a few breaks here and there to check out the two lakes. Pretty cloudy once we got to the top- not enough to where we couldn't see the other sisters and Jefferson but just enough to make me want to go back for more.
Started around 6:30am, up took us about 3.5 hours and down took us about 2.5 at a constant leisure pace

Was able to get out mid-December on a day with very little wind and ~50deg temps. Lots of good views looking east up the gorge. Also a nice variety of terrain minus the paved home stretch. Not to mention very accessible.

Hiked this in early December, it was beautiful and my first time up! Definitely bring lots of clothing layers and good hiking shoes, it was very slick and icy in some spots.

Best mountain in Oregon that I’ve been on.
