Easy walk but OMG MOSQUITOS!!!! The waterfall at the end: worth it.

Trail is open! This was my favorite hike I did at the park. Great views all throughout of the lake & surrounding forests & mountains! 2 smallish sections of snow that you can easily & safely hike around.

Easy hike for kids (6 & 8) with nice waterfall. Bring some bug spray.

Heavily trafficked but absolute must if you're visiting crater lake. Bring swimwear in case you decide to jump in the water. Just make sure you wear proper shoes (not sandals or flip-flops). A bit steep but it's an easy hike if you're in good shape. Encountered some children who were on the verge of mutiny though ;)

Beautiful views of Crater Lake. Steep but not that far of a hike. If you want to put your feet in the lake then this hikes a must.

Not sure if I just so sweet that the mosquitoes like me but I got eaten alive. Wear pants or bring deet. Bring your hammock and enjoy the views!

Hiked July 4. Perfect day get there early to beat the crowd. Only trail that takes to you to lake level. Many people jumping in to cool off. Gives you a good perspective of how big the lake is. It’s a steep decent but totally worth it.

The trail is fully open now as of July 11, 2019. There are several snowfields you have to walk across, but they are not difficult and not dangerous. The views that you get from this hike are spectacular and I highly recommend it.

7/10/2019 Very dry conditions on the trail. Weather 63 degrees and sunny with some clouds. Trail down is steep but well maintained. It is heavily used. Edges are drops so use caution. No stopping going down fast if you fall off. At the bottom swimming in the lake is great but very cold. Awesome views all around and in the lake bed. Wind was up today and lake was choppy but well worth the effort. The hike up was moderate for me but I run 30 miles a week. If you have a heart condition or stress easily with heavy inclines re-think this. Weekday use moderate / imagine weekends are insane.

Hiked 7-5-19. 7am hike to the snow line. Trail is still partly closed. Absolute much do at crater lake, stunning views. Get there early park gets super crowded after 12. Trail is well maintained with plenty of switchbacks. Easy to moderate hike.

Great trail with great views of the lake. Snow near the summit but not too tricky. Fun glissade down. July 7th, 2019

Very nice and easy walk to the trail. The falls Are marvelous from the viewpoints.

Trail and views were great! Loved that we could get down to the water and swim. The hike back up was not bad just all uphill. It was very crowded which is to be expected in July on a holiday weekend.

The view of Crater Lake is amazing from this location. The hike back to the top is uphill the whole way, so be prepared.

Beautiful hike overlooking the lake. If you have time to do just one hike, do this one! The climb up was not as bad as others made it seem. We did the walk down in 30 minutes and the walk up in 35 minutes. If you have time, wear a swim suit so you can jump off some rocks into the water! It’s pretty cold in July still but I’m sure your body will acclimate :) We hiked in Chocos so the rocks and sand got into our sandals. Recommend shoes.

The hike was open all the way to the summit July 4th. Just a few tricky snow parts near the end. Amazing views at the top.

Outstanding trail with shade and benches for catching your breath. Feeling the water is a top ten experience at Crater Lake!!

Snow pack the last 0.2miles, rest of the trail pretty clear.

The trail was closed in late June.

did the trail yesterday (6/23), trail was closed but we did a part anyway. halfway there was snow on the trail (very steep and dangerous). we heard someone was fallen down the day before. The overlooks you will see on the trail are not that much better than from the car, however quit impressive.

I ignored a ‘trail closed’ sign and got about 2/3rds of the way up....relatively easy so far. But then there was a snow covered, steep drop off traverse. It required care and attention and definitely not safe for all. The rangers were already here and turned me back. Apparently someone had fallen here and was ok but was being rescued. There was no info on the website about the trail being closed/difficult. So expect that the trail might still be closed. You could call and ask but there does seem to be some confusion at the park i.e. the guy that fell was apparently sold snow shoes and told it was ok to go up.....

It's a shame there are no angles to get both of these waterfalls in one long exposure photograph, because they're really impressive. It reminds me a lot of Kentucky Falls, but grander.

Fun trail but steep on way back up

great hike with wonderful views. bring water and sunblock.

Hiked on 5/11/19 in snow boots. The first half is snowy but straightforward. Then it became difficult to follow the trail with all of the snow. We made it to the second to last viewpoint before turning back. Overall great views and fun to trek through the snow!
