My best gal pal and her two kids did this hike no problem last weekend 3/11 and the weather was absolutely perfect, the trail is beautiful but some very muddy spots I advise you to wear hiking boots.

Beautiful! Muddy, so bring three right shoes. No complaints from me on a sunny day!

Amazing trail. Loved it. We loved the cove at the far end of the beach. Definitely coming back. It is muddy and can get very slippery.

Great place one of the best on the coast. You can take the very easy level hike or a nice big crazy one.
The view is amazing.

What a great hike! This trail was everything we had hoped for. We had a beautiful sunny day today. A little muddy especially for the first 1.5 mile or so, but well worth the mud and the effort! Not too easy, but not too hard, and the views once you get to the meadow are amazing! It was about 5.5 miles from the parking lot to the top and it’s uphill most of the way there. I highly recommend this trail, you won’t be disappointed! Wear hiking boots if you have them.

Amazing views on an easy hike. Lots of other people and plenty of mud, but a must see if you arent familiar with the area.

I'd rate this moderate rather than easy. Not long, but the footing gets complicated between LOTS of mud, slippery rocks and tree roots everywhere. Not bad for my husband and I, but I look at 'Easy' with aging parents and small children in mind. They would have struggled.

The view is incredible the way to the view not so much!

Very muddy (but very beautiful!) Saw whales and various birds

We went in early January and it was sunny and no wind! The trail was a little muddy here and there, probably due to recent rains, but overall was easy to hike. The views are incredible! Kind of a bummer that you have to walk alongside the road for the first stretch of the trail, due to the trailhead being a short distance from the parking lot. Great hike though, will continue to make this trip!

HIKE: Late February, on a sunny day.

BEST PART: A dozen huge deer gathered in form for several minutes of our hike, just to eat and stare from the tree ridge about 1.2 miles in or so. This is before the wrap around of one of the creeks, where the elevation changes the most. It was beautiful to watch them move with the hills, and wait on each other.

It was muddy, but gorgeously armed with a amazing forest. Quite passable trail for even probably an ameteur. We went on a sunny day. Moderate does describe this hike RT though. The trail runs down the last few thousand feet on a very easy descent to the beach, all of it is worth it!

Aim for a full hour long hike of 2.1 miles, so you can get out there BEFORE high tide. The trail begins to the left of the upper parking lot restrooms, clearly labeled "Crescent Beach Trailhead," however its not 1.25 miles. There are 2 creeks/waterfalls, and the correct trail brings you out in the beach in between both of them.

The caves are accessible at low tide, play safe, drink plenty of fluids. I personally take B-Vitamins, Vitamin Water and Herbal Kratom 2 hours before a hike. Energy plus electrolytes plus pain-free.

Although it was super muddy, the views were spectacular! I also liked the fact my Honda Civic could make it to the trail head. Easy to find and the trail was well marked.

It was pretty muddy but WELL worth the hike! It’s a quick trip up and you descend even quicker. My family, including a 5 year old knocked this out in about 90 minutes total. Oh, and the view is spectacular! We all loved it.

Amazing views! Very muddy is right. It was SO DANG COLD the day we went, there was still a nice dusting of snow up there! The elk were wayyyy on the side of the hill so you could only see them from far away. Still SO amazing. Need to come back and do Hart's Cove when it's available. Decent elevation climb but a few sets of kids came FLYING by so they were having no problems haha.

great views, easy hiking, big trees!

This is a great hike for the family. We did this hike with a 3 and a 4 year old and they did great. The trail is very clear and well maintained until about half way when you start to hit the switchbacks. At this point it gets muddy and there are tons of tree roots. The trees on this hike a huge and grow in all kinds of crazy shapes. At the beginning there is a fallen tree that made a cave under the roots that the kids love. There are a few trees that have "tunnels" under them that are fun to play in.
There are lookouts along the path that allow you to look back to the beach and look down several hundred feet to the ocean. Great hike. Great views. And the plus is that it is close to the Tillamook Cheese Factory were after a long hike you can stuff your face with free cheese and get some ice cream.
I am not sure about the actual trail length. Alltrails.com says that it is 4.6 miles round trip, the trailhead sign says that it is 2.8 miles each way (5.6 miles total), and my GPS says that it was 6.5 miles round trip. Not sure which is right, but either way it was fun.

The muddy terrain is definitely worth the great views at the end! Lots of elevation changes, so it felt like more than the 723 ft elevation change. Shaded most of the way. Wear appropriate footwear, and bring extra shoes and socks.

So even though the trail is closed, I advise you go anyways and just go as far as the trail leads you. It is closed due to erosion but if you go past the closed signs, It is breathtakingly beautiful AND dangerous so be smart. One of my favorite hikes now and I definitely recommend it.

What great views and I it was my first time seeing a tide pool and saw some pretty cool creatures!

Awesome hike except for the mud. Great for dogs. Not a bad winter hike if you don't mind the mud. You can end at short sands beach.

Great hike! It’s a doozy in the winter months, be prepared to get muddy. I wouldn’t recommend small children. Lots of exposed roots which were great while it was wet and muddy, helped with my footing. The view at the end of Cape Trail is breathtaking! I’d love to go back and hike the North and South trail!

One of the best coastal trails we have! Easy five-ish mile out and back with a some elevation gain, which you'll feel most on the way back to the trailhead. Expect to get muddy even in summer, especially in winter, and the views are well worth it. The trail is well maintained but not level and in many places tree roots are both a blessing and a curse. Great place to view sea birds as well as ospreys, bald eagles, and an occasional peregrine falcon. Excellent place for whale migration observation in late December and again in mid-March. Good and interesting hike for kiddos who can go the distance. Plenty of people bring their doggos but if your dog doesn't like heights, other dogs, of standing on a cliff near other dogs at the same time, maybe best to leave them home. Also, PLEASE LEAVE THE TRILLIUM ON THEIR STEMS which begin to bloom in February. Picking the flower can irreparably damage the entire plant, requiring years to recover before being able to bloom again. Please help protect them. :)

half way. then erosion has closed the path.

Scenic, good workout and the trail is muddy.

Beautiful hike down. Only saw one other group on the trail when I went on a Saturday in January. It was muddy, but that is expected on a hike in winter in Oregon. Be sure to pace yourself. It’s easy to zoom on down and walk a couple of miles down the beach before you remember you have to the the switchbacks back up :)
