Awesome time!!! Trail was muddy but well worth the trip. We parked in the parking lot to keep the neighbors happy! I do not like heights but had no issues with this!

Elk on the way auto and on the way back down. Great views along the way of the coast.

This is the first trail I had done on the Oregon Coast and man it was so worth the hike.. Beautiful scenery and just amazing views all around...

Not alot to see but I enjoy it

I made the loop counter clockwise. I wasn’t that impressed until coming back.Absolutely beautiful trail along the mountain ridge with majestic Doug Fir and Sitka Spruce. Quiet, private, meditative hike. A must do again!! If you like being alone this ones for you.

A really nice hike with some good elevation climbs, some beautiful flora at some points, and a perfect summer hike for some good exercise. I totally recommend this one.

It is a lovely trail. We took it into all the way into Yachats which is a good hike. According to my Garmin step counter, including the detour of the Yachats Ocean View Road, we did almost 7 miles - so know if you plan on hiking into Yachats for a meal afterwards, it's "a lot longer" than the 4.5 miles it seems to say. You walk along either 101 S. or the side trails along the road into town. We thoroughly enjoyed it for a New Year Day's hike.

Awesome hike. Some really cool viewpoints on the way to God’s Thumb as well. In January, there were some spots with a lot of frost, and a lot of other spots that were very muddy. I’d definitely recommend hiking boots. It was tricky coming down some of the muddier hills while keeping the dog on the leash. I will also say that finding the trailhead, and then getting back to where we were told to park at the end, was slightly confusing, even with the map and description of how to find it. Will definitely be doing this trail again, though!

Great overall hike. Large amount of varied terrain for such a short distance. One piece of advice however, would be to pack good hiking shoes for wet conditions as the ground can be quite muddy and slippery. Pair this with the steep sections of the hike and Your risk of injury could be quite high.

Gorgeous views with the chance of seeing elk along the way.

One of my favorite hikes in Oregon!! Absolutely beautiful from the top. Not too hard. There were a bunch of elk at the top too.

Great quick trail. Nice burner on the way up and unforgettable views of the Pacific at the top. The rapid ascent makes this a strong moderate by AT standards, but the distance is short and terrain mostly easygoing. Really packs a lot into a quick hike.

Don’t let the other reviews about steepness and heights and muddy ness scare you! This was an incredible hike. Beautiful forests and lovely meadows. And gods thumb itself is spectacular !! I went on a sunny day in December and there were a few muddy spots but not bad.

Keep going, the beginning is not the prettiest part of the forest and telephone lines pass low overhead but once you get a ways in it is gorgeous deep forest and you pass a lovely stream. Some ups and downs which may be difficult for beginners.

Great trail for both the inexperienced and kids! Was able to go with my 3 nephews all under 8 yers old and my dog! Very pretty trail around the lake! Kind of sad it is not a loop trail but overall it was really enjoyable!

Stunning ocean and hill views for probably over half the hike, and the rest is lush, green and also beautiful. With all the footwork between the steps/erosion control, roots, and narrow path near the top this hike ends up feeling longer than it is - but totally worth it.

The views were great! The trail was very muddy so wear shoes/boots with good traction. I saw several people turn around and go back because of the mud and the narrow trail. This would not be a good trail for anyone scared of heights.

Incredible hike! Have not seen such a sight as what we experienced going to Gods thumb. Went through a variety of terrain, beach, mossy, stream, mud, grassy. Trail was muddy and steep so needed to grab onto bushes to help not slip. I’m not afraid of heights but I got nervous at points due to my adult children goofing off at the top. Loved it overall!

I did this trail yesterday. It was full of fog and very mystical among the huge trees. I'm not a great hiker, but this wasn't too hard. There are plenty of places the trail flattens out to give you a break. The ocean views along the Oregon Coast Trail are beautiful. We only passed maybe 5 other parties the whole time. I'd do it again.

Slow and steady will get you there. Very worth it.

One of may favorite hikes in Oregon. There is no parking near the trailhead, and it's usually muddy, so prepare to get a little dirty.

This area is great to check out tide pools and seals but the heavy traffic here has taken a toll. We don’t see many sea stars any more but it’s a gorgeous natural area.

This is an awesome spot on the Oregon coast. We saw harlequin ducks, oyster catchers, blue heron, harbor seals and a spouting whale! A must see when close to Newport.

Really beautiful views!

My 7 yr old grandson and I did a round trip hike from Shore Acres to Simpson Reef wayside. 3 hrs round trip. Beautiful hike.

Beautiful trail but does have 2 pretty large inclines.

Beautiful place for watching whales, surfers, birds, and maybe the best sunsets on the Oregon Coast. I’d highly recommend visiting at low tide so you can go to the beach on the north side of the point and go into the Punchbowl. Fun tide pools and gorgeous views!

anybody know how to get to 4x4 trail head?
