My 7 yr old grandson and I did a round trip hike from Shore Acres to Simpson Reef wayside. 3 hrs round trip. Beautiful hike.

Great trail. I want to go back in the winter or spring.

Great views of the lake

What’s not to love? Crashing waves to the west and old forests to the east, you wind your way along cliffs and coastal trails to the rhythm of constantly changing vistas. The trails are quite easy and good for all age groups. Best of all, you’ll encounter only moderate pedestrian traffic while you enjoy tranquility and good exercise. Take along a day pack with water and some snacks, but please leave it clean and leave behind no litter.

This trail was recommended to us by the park ranger. Unlike a lot of the trails, it goes down to the lake where you can take a dip. We didn’t as it was too cold but it looks refreshing for warmer days. It was a nice short hike but somewhat of a challenge going back up. Doable for all!

Unable to make it up to the end due to a slide in the east side of the trail...not able to safely go around. We were almost to the top! Very disappointed in not being able to reach the top.

Great hike. Did it in mid October on a weekday, so there were very few people there. Yes, it is all uphill all the way to the top, but take your time and enjoy the views from every angle. It's a fairly steady climb and there is no scrambling. Well worth your time.

Awesome and beautiful but super easy hike! Very popular spot but still worth an afternoon trip.

I dont think this was my fav. My friend and I did the whole loop..I think about 3 miles or more.
probably because of the cold but I wasn't as thrilled. Also I may not like sand as much as I thought. half of it was surrounded by sand. and I just got tired of it. anyways if you're a fan..you'll love it. there is some walking through trees which was beautiful.

Short hike/walk, all up hill, to see the gorgeous beach view from the top. This is on the Harris Beach Trail.

Beautiful views. Ascent is rapid but the trail is short.

Sand is packed tight for those of us with slightly used backs! Ran into a Pelican one day , up close, didnt seem to mind my company! Great easy little hike!

Absolutely amazing trail, right out of National Geographic! Spring time, marvel at the pups sunning themselves at mid trail point. Whales can be seen year round. Trails well kept, a surprise around each bend! Benches provided to rest and for over 30 crowd, convinient stop point to apply numbing cream to knees!
Winter brings huge swells, the pacific flexes her muscles, shows us who is boss!
Very easy trail, so many distractions along the way, making it fun and healthy!

Beautiful trail many small waterfalls.

Breathtaking views!! Pretty strenuous if unused to the altitude.

Gorgeous hike, the views are there if you are looking for them. I went up the west side, down the east side. So many birds! Lots of trail maintenance has been done and there were no downed trees blocking the trail. Only down side was some road noise on the portion leading to the loop.

Great view of the lake and wildlife

The view from the top is excellent

Beautiful views throughout with presence of great amount of shade.

simply spectacular. we totally scored with the weather. we were here last year same time and smoke from wildfires made visibility = zero, yesterday visibility was infinity. this is a must see must do hike.

Lots of switches on a wide, well-maintained path. This place becomes pretty popular on the hotter days, but the parking area is sizable.

Lounge on the rocks, freeze yourself in the water.

Very enjoyable hike! The parking lot is relatively small, some street parking nearby.

The trail curves towards the back of the mountain surrounded by large pines and firs. The elevation is slow and steady, trail is very well maintained.

The view away from the lake is just as impressive as the lake itself - old growth forests as far as the eye can see!

Great, well defined trail. Spectacular views of Crater Lake. It was challenging due to the elevation but there were plenty of view points to stop and rest. We did this in September and the weather was clear and cool. Highly recommend this trail!

Absolutely STUNNING views of Crater Lake and the surrounding mountains. Moderately challenging and the payoff is well worth it.

Everything about Crater Lake gets five stars in my book. Pretty strenuous coming back up, but it’s only a mile. Beautiful day, no smoke.

Amazing views of the lake all the way up.

The perfect hike. So many beautiful views and the trail was fun. We went in mid September and the weather was amazing. It took us about 2 hours, which included lots of stops for photos and taking in the scenery.

This is a very popular trail. And for good reason.

Five stars because it was the only place Brook could swim in Crater Lake......and she and the people waiting for the ferry enjoyed it. Nice steep hill with gorgeous views of the lake.. My phone app told me at one point it was a 25% grade. It's a bummer they haven't made a better access point for the ferry. It prevents many people from enjoying all of the park.
