This was a very muddy but good hike, if you are looking for a beginner trail, do not look at this one. There are several steep parts that are difficult when dry, even more so when wet. I don’t normally use hiking poles but if you have them, I would highly recommend them. Overall beautiful views and scenery!
Very muddy this time of year, but went around 930a on a Sunday and there was maybe 4 other hikers out. It was perfect! Some of the trail is narrow and hard to keep distance if passing others. The roads there are well kept up. They are also very narrow, unmarked and many drivers are going too fast around corners.
It was really muddy when I went .A walking stick would definitely help. BE CAREFUL taking dogs up to the top of God’s Thumb when muddy. I had my dog on a leash , we were hiking up to the top of gods thumb- I slipped into a thorny bush / tree - let go of my dog so he wouldn’t slip into the thorns, thought my dog would stay on the path bc we always hike, but he jumped off the cliff. Jumped off. Luckily, he caught himself on a tiny ledge and was able to jump back over. It was traumatic. Completely my fault assuming my dog would be able to conceptualize that the cliff dropped into the ocean. Anyway, be very careful especially with pets.
pretty muddy today on the trek to the summit. Made going down a little tricky, but overall very great workout and beautiful views!
beautiful forest, hike, and view. only one fallen tree when I went, although it is a narrow steep scramble near the top (maybe not a good one for people w vertigo!). muddy and had been hailing, so check the weather and pack well with good shoes. really lovely hike and not crowded at all.
Amazing colors especially on a sunny day.
Mud was almost impassable in places. View is top notch though.
Muddy!!!!!!! So muddy that we couldn’t continue on the main path. We had waterproof hiking boots and trekking poles and it was too much. Took the other path and it was much drier but couldn’t get to the beach. Beautiful view and was able to sit in the sun with minimal wind on the grassy bluff. Cant wait to try the full path in warmer drier months.
Beautiful, but trail is really rough
The mud is real. I’d advise wearing boots, tall socks or waterproof/Goretex sneakers were fine too. Beautiful on the beach once you make it!
Absolutely loved the trail. Hard but awesome walk
started with snow flurries ended with sunny blue skies. Like usual started getting crowded around 9am.
Trail was nice and easy, little incline on the way back if you are a bit out of shape but definitely a good beginners hike. It was super muddy today and I forgot my hiking boots so my nikes were pretty much done when we got done. Not a very wide trail so just be courteous to other hikers. And the bridge just please no more than 4people on it at a time. Can be scary if too Many people crossing at the same time!
Such a great trail. A difficult climb to the top with 2 or 3 false peaks on the way. But once you get there so worth it. To get to the butte at about mile 5 from the trail head watch for a sign on your right that says “foot traffic only” and turn right there, easy to miss with snow on the ground
