Very unique. I have a very healthy fear of heights... mainly vertigo, but I managed. The views are spectacular.

Beautiful variety of scenery on this trail. Pay attention to signage because there are a few trails that connect and could throw you off course. Overall, great hike and would do again!

The top top never looked so good.

Did it today and actually made it to the top! So beautiful, the whole entire climb! Will defineftly being doing it multiple times over the summer!

Went out on a Wednesday morning and the place was packed. Nice views and the waterfall was a treat! Only downside was all the traffic (I assume) due to the nearby Oregon trails being closed. Will definitely go back during summer.

Full value day hike.

Great trail for hybrid hiking/trail running. Beautiful waterfalls, wasn’t too busy today. With spring rains there were no views but it was a fun hike with elevation. Some mud pits in high traffic areas but mostly in good condition. Will definitely be repeating in the summer to check out the views.

Beautiful hike! It's a pretty intense few miles up to the summit of Hamilton Mountain with beautiful views along the way and a nice variety of scenery. It was rainy and windy today when we climbed it, so I can't say much about the view at the top, but the trail itself was great. We were surprised to find a little snow at the top, but not too much! Looking forward to trying it again on a sunny day!

One of my favorites hikes in Oregon so far! Went on a beautiful sunny day about a week ago, and it wasn’t super busy. Long line of cars backed up at Ecola park entrance though. Muddy trail but overall easy to navigate and follow. The beach is gorgeous and make sure you climb up to see the waterfall(s)!!! Will be back for sure.

Good start to the season.

We followed a meandering creek that just took us away...

Hiked this on Easter Sunday on a cold, rainy day. Due to those two factors there was almost no one else on the hike or on the beach. Both the forest and the beach are insanely beautiful! Sweet little waterfall on the beach too. I'd say it was moderate difficulty - a few parts are a bit tricky or slippery. Very very muddy, hiking boots are an absolute must. There are a couple unavoidable giant mud puddles and your boots will get dirty! Unfortunately it was almost high tide when we got to the beach, so we were unable to simply walk around Chapman or Ecola points, but we did manage to scramble up the rocks to get to the northern beach. I don't recommend doing that unless you are in really good shape haha.

Overall, a really fun hike in so-called "bad" weather!

Fun hike with our dogs. It was pretty crowded early Saturday morning but still worth it. Beautiful views!

I loved this trail today. A little muddy in spots but overall very well maintained. The elevation change is no joke and the view from the top is lovely. Trillium was in bloom everywhere which was an added bonus!

awesome hike! definitely would do it again

I head here when short on time and needing a quick run with a little bit of climb. This loop is intended to be run clockwise though I often see people going in the opposite direction. My only complaint is that part of this trail is actually just paved path or road, boo. But all in all it’s decent for being urban. On a clear day there are views of the waterfront/downtown and even with the crowds, it’s usually still peaceful and easy to maneuver.

Great city trail in Portland’s acclaimed Forest Park. The lower trail follows a stream. The upper trail leads to a lovely view of the city and Mt. Hood beyond from the gardens of the elegant Pittock Mansion. Water bowl for doggies and the ticket office for the indoor tour of Pittock.

Easy and short hike up to the top, but surprised more people haven’t talked about the heights! I’ve hiked well over 30 trails in the Oregon/Washington area, and this is one of the few that actually made me nervous on my way to the top! There are guard rails, but it’s just wide open to the side of the rock as you ascend. Worth it for the views at the top!

My best gal pal and her two kids did this hike no problem last weekend 3/11 and the weather was absolutely perfect, the trail is beautiful but some very muddy spots I advise you to wear hiking boots.

Pretty easy hike, great little stream. when you take the turn up to Pittock Mansion be prepared for the incline. I've hiked this trail two times now. The first time I wasn't in the best shape so it was a nice burn. The second time I was in better shape so it wasn't as bad, but I powered up it and was out of breath by the time I got to the top because I was hiking up pretty quickly.

Amazing trail. Loved it. We loved the cove at the far end of the beach. Definitely coming back. It is muddy and can get very slippery.

Great walk! The gorge winds made it an epic climb up the switchbacks. Totally worth going to the top.

This trail is popular, so I would recommend hiking on weekdays. It’s the perfect amount of challenging climbs with gradual trails, throughout many different types of geography. Totally worth it for the view—though the best views are just before the summit (I would say). Wear proper hiking footwear!

I thought this was a great hike! So fun for the puppers and I. Beautiful scenery and very peaceful.

Spectacular views at sunset!

One of the best hikes in the gorge. Uphill but easy.

Amazing views on an easy hike. Lots of other people and plenty of mud, but a must see if you arent familiar with the area.

If you only have time for one hike in PDX, do Upper Mcleay to Pittock mansion and pack a lunch for when you get to the top.

Great hike, I think it is definitely a new favorite. Lots of people on the portion to the waterfall, but hardly saw anyone up to the summit. Very muddy and a lot of snow, but it is well worth going through for the views.
