Ill give this one 4 stars, but only because of the Rooty trail. Yes the trail is full of roots! But, if you persist you will be rewarded with an amazing view at the end at Falcon Point, 360 view of the ocean where you will be able to see the rock formations of the other points on either side. We stopped at Short Sands beach to dip our feet in the water and it was a perfect spot to end the hike.

This is a great trail on a clear day. The views at the top are really beautiful. There is loose rock at some points along the trail but overall it wasn’t too bad. Be careful going downhill. Took a little over 3 hrs to complete round trip.

Backpacked in at night with a group of Scouts. Trail well defined and easy to negotiate with headlamps. Fairly busy at the lake but the weather was ideal for October. No problems finding camping spots for 6 adults and 12 scouts even by headlamps. Beautiful location with access to water for filtering. Highly recommended.

Awesome hike to this Clatsop County high point. On a clear day you can see Mt. Rainer, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. Jefferson, Nehalem Bay, the PacificOcean and the mouth of the Columbia River.

Beautiful views from the trail.

We couldn’t find the trail, but I’m sure we could’ve if we hadn’t been distracted by the gobs and gobs of whales! Absolutely gorgeous site overall.

Very magical place, expected Bilbo Baggins and gang to pop out behind the trees! Beach is lovely, not many people. Great hike!

Amazing hike. Amazing views. Love burning calories on this trail!!!

An easy short walk through some dense forest to a wide open space, and/or down to the beach. Gorgeous views! Lincoln City to the north and Fogarty Creek Beach to the south. Nice for a picnic or watching whales!

Breathtaking views!! Pretty strenuous if unused to the altitude.

Gorgeous hike with amazing views of the Columbia River, the coast line, and five major mountain peaks on a clear day. It's mostly forested and easy the first half and exposed, steep, and rocky the second half.

Be sure to take the .2-mile spur to Humbug for more gorgeous views. This hike is easy enough if you're fit, but don't let it fool you, because it can also be treachorous. I strongly recommend good hiking boots with tread and hiking poles. The second half is steep with loose rock and wire fencing embedded in the ground that can be slippery without proper footwear. Even though it's short, be sure to take your ten essentials and enough food and water in case you're stuck with an injury. It's easy enough for the strongest hikers to sprain or break an ankle.

Well worth the hike. Definitely not easy, but I’m no expert hiker and did fine.

Great view of the lake and wildlife

I don't like it no bath for the whaterfall

We hiked this trail on father's day and it was very busy, but not over crowded, fairly easy walking, my 5yr old almost did the whole trail on his own, so it's very kind friendly. loved the view of the falls and the pools at the bottom to play in the water and cool off.

The view from the top is excellent

Well worth the trip - easy drive up. 90% uphill on the way up so a pretty easy way down! Super windy at the top but the views were some of the best I've ever seen. a few picnic tables spread through out to bring some snacks and rest up! Low traffic end of September

The trail is lava and you can only walk on the roots.

I feel so blessed to have been on the top of this mountain on a clear day. We saw Mt Ranier, Mt St Helen’s, Mt Adams, Mt Hood, and Mt Jefferson. We stayed at the summit exploring and taking pictures for a good hour and completed this hike in 3 hours including that time on top The chicken wire on the trail helps with footing. This is a must do hike. You see the ocean and the snow capped mountains

My husband and I did this hike on a beautiful sunny day. The trail was easy to follow and we had no trouble completing it in sneakers. We hung out at many viewpoints and the top just soaking in the view and took the spur trail to the beach on the way back and rested by the water before heading out. Definitely worth repeating

It is a great trail with many ups and downs which is a nice workout. The trees and forest are beautiful and the trails were well taken care of. The only amazing scary sounds we heard were monkeys.....oooh sorry they were our kids trying to make us think there were monkeys on the trail. Seriously though we will be back !!!

Great trail. If you want to beat the crowd show up by 8

I went from the trailhead to China Creek Loop and back (did not do the beach portion). Leisurely shaded hike in a beautiful forest. The China Creek Loop was my favorite part.

Easy, beautiful hike.

Started from the Cape Perpetua Visitor's Center. It is challenging in that it is a lot of elevation gain over a relatively short distance (got my heart rate up for sure), but I made it to the top by taking it slow. The shady forest and glimpses of ocean are beautiful along the way and the views from the top are worth it. There's a quick, easy walk to the rock shelter from the top parking lot, and a toilet ;).

simply spectacular. we totally scored with the weather. we were here last year same time and smoke from wildfires made visibility = zero, yesterday visibility was infinity. this is a must see must do hike.

Awesome hike!!! Little sketchy on parts with mesh fencing put down on the trail, but overall pretty well maintained. Great views at the top!!!

The best - jaw dropping view.

Very enjoyable hike! The parking lot is relatively small, some street parking nearby.

The trail curves towards the back of the mountain surrounded by large pines and firs. The elevation is slow and steady, trail is very well maintained.

The view away from the lake is just as impressive as the lake itself - old growth forests as far as the eye can see!
