Hike for any level hiker! Beautiful waterfall that you can hike right to the base of the fall for spectacular photos.

Great, well defined trail. Spectacular views of Crater Lake. It was challenging due to the elevation but there were plenty of view points to stop and rest. We did this in September and the weather was clear and cool. Highly recommend this trail!

I never get tired of this trail, it changes with the seasons. The Vine Maple is turning red now and there are a few wildflowers still blooming.

easy and fun

Absolutely STUNNING views of Crater Lake and the surrounding mountains. Moderately challenging and the payoff is well worth it.

For a half-day fun near Seaside/Portland area, definitely do this hike. I did it with my partner, middle September and there were maybe five couples and a few solo hikers we encountered.

To get to the parking, it is 7 miles of long and windy, but well paved roads.

The hike is beautiful with the hardest part being the incline at the end. It is slightly deceiving because you hike up one mountain to view people at the top of the real peak. But at the top it is an unbelieveable site with ocean view, the state of Washington, and the mountains of northeastern Oregon.

Wore sneakers with good traction, did not need full hiking gear.

Side note, there are picnic tables scattered throughout so could just be a fun picnic hike as well.

Beautiful trail, really not to hard for the amazing view rewards. The road getting to the trail was fairly rough in sections, I wouldn’t have made it (with a Prius) if it was wet or muddy.

Amazing views of the lake all the way up.

Did this as a snow hike December ‘16 on a clear day and it’s one of the best hikes I will ever go on!! You can distinctly see every mountain in the Oregon Cascade range, it will take your breath away

Fabulous hike with several types of terrain. Went all the way to the ridge just below Three Fingered Jack for a 7.5 mike trip. Fall weather was in full force. Saw both a calving glacier and a pronghorn sheep. The loop is pretty kid friendly and my little one (10) made it to Cirque Lake without too much trouble.

Beware though he road up has a few sandy spots that you will really want/need a high clearance AWD/4x4 vehicle to cross - especially after in rains.

The perfect hike. So many beautiful views and the trail was fun. We went in mid September and the weather was amazing. It took us about 2 hours, which included lots of stops for photos and taking in the scenery.

This is a very popular trail. And for good reason.

Amazing things to see here the whole
Time . I really had to stop every few steps and look again as it changes so fast including climbers doing their thing on all the rock walls around

Nice little trail to the falls with no one around. I did it fairly early in the morning. When I got to the falls I saw a Rock Chuck or also known as a Marmot by the falls. That was interesting since I've only seen a few and it was the first my dog has seen.

Last hike of the day. Took some very good pics that would have been great if I'd been there 20 minutes earlier. Very easy walk...

Overall, the hike was amazing. I only rate this a 3/5 since it’s a longer distance from Portland than other beautiful coast hikes, and the geotagged trailhead on AllTrails is wrong. AllTrails will likely take you to a fork in the road—but drive 1.5 miles farther on the left fork. I didn’t find the ascent difficult, but I can imagine it can be depending on the weather/experience of the hikers. Bring a nice lunch to enjoy the view at the meadow, it was awesome to emerge from the rainy and cloudy forest to a sunny coastal meadow.

Some things to know before going.
The $5 fee deposit box can be found at the trailhead NOT on Forest Rd 12.
When you get to the lower canyon, go left to the unmarked trail that says “unmaintained trail”.

Great time of year to hike because of no mosquitos but we didn’t see three fingered jack because it was unfortunately socked in. Still a gorgeous hike. Signs and descriptions don’t quite add up, however.

Nice hike. Some beautiful views. Half the trail is very well maintained, the rest is roots and puddles. Went hiking on a rainy September day.

Great short hike. Really easy. You start walking through the forest for a bit, then through some volcanic rock fields, then end up at lower proxy falls. Lower proxy is the larger of the two falls and the path off the main loop to its base can require some scrambling around fallen trees and rocks, but is nothing too challenging. Upper proxy is great as well, there was a giant pool of water at the bottom when we arrived, so in order to really see it clearly we had to climb up a path to the right when facing the falls. You could do this loop in 30-45 minutes straight, but you’ll probably want to stop and enjoy the waterfalls. We stayed on the loop for 1.5 hrs.

My boyfriend and I did this trail a month ago and it was a simple trail till you got trying trail to get down to the pool. My boyfriend and I had a blast finding it but is difficult to find. I would highly recommend this pool it’s so beautiful and so worth the hike.

Drive out on one lane road was tricky. But well worth it. Trail was easy. Nice waterfall.

Not crowded. No mosquitoes today, but also no wildflowers. A bit too late in the season, I guess. Easy walk along a well established trail. Slight incline the last 1/4 mile, but nothing tough.

Not crowded at all when we were there. Very easy "hike" to get to the rim and view the lake and Phantom Ship. As stated before, pretty dusty on the trail. Accessible to all ages.

I would rate as moderate, just because of the elevation change near the top. Great views all around today. The smoke from nearby fires wasn't too bad today. Beautiful area.

Lots of sea lions barking, you can also see them swimming at the end. The cove is super cool. We opted to track over to the right of the grassy knoll down onto the rocks and sit for a couple hours. Saw lots of sea lions, birds and even a whale throw it's tail up! Traffic was light and we didn't see a whole lot of people. It did kick our asses

What a great trail just outside of Yachats. We used the day use parking at the top. Hiking down to the visitor center then back up. The views of the Oregon coast are amazing.

Difficult for me; easy for my 25 year old son who is much fitter than I. Great view at the top but lots of bees.
