Good for even the antisocial!

Nice and easy trail, great views, and fun for the kids. This was my first hike after major abdominal surgery so it was a great way to get back out there.

Great half-day hike. Not difficult, but harder than its 5.5 mile and 1600 feet of elevation would have you think. Steady climb that is rewarding with a great waterfall payoff. Hit the waterfall just after midday to get some of the best photos with the sun at your back but be careful to not arrive too late as parking is limited. I added an extra quarter to a half mile having to park farther down the road. Lots of people parked along the road, with no real fear of towing as long as you got far enough off the road.

Picturesque hike! Wow.

During snowy conditions, Yaktrax shoe chains are definitely worth it, as it gets pretty icy! You can by them for ~ $25 in the shop in Curry Village.

Fun park to run, or just hang out in. Usually pretty busy, and lots of water fowl so watch out for poop! Nice paved path that goes completely around the lake, with a few dirt paths that also go fully around and closer to the water.

Closed Dec 1-March 31. Wish the app told me this after I drove 2 hours to get here!

The river is 5 star beautiful but the nearby commercial areas deduct a point to 4 stars. The nearby busy roads drop it down to 3. Bonus star granted however for being dog friendly. Overall 4 stars.

Hiked it on Thurs., March 15. The parking lot was packed but the trail wasn’t too crowded. Most people were there for photos from the parking lot overlook. My GF and I are mid 40s and in decent shape. It took us 6 hours round trip including a number of breaks to take photos. Encountered everything from dry ground to mud, snow and ice along the way up. Lots of wind. Strenuous hike but well worth it. Spikes and poles would have made it a lot more manageable. It was a sunny day with very few clouds and the view was spectacular! This trail was the highlight of our trip to the Smoky Mountains.

Great views of the Yellowstone Canyon on this. While there is the trail that can be walked in its entirety, there are also parking spots at various places so you can make this work however you please in terms of whether you want to hike it or just stop at the designated viewpoints. I went as the sun was setting and it was incredibly beautiful.

Awesome trail! Just covered in ice in many places. On our way back it was melting, so more slushy and easier to maneuver. Great hike!

Did this hike over the summer, so great and good tree coverage from the sun..and the best ending to a hike is a lake.... to swim in!

Great hike but strenuous. We had lots of snow and ice. Many spots for beautiful vistas. I’d like this hike because it combines hiking in the forest, with hiking in the mountains with gorgeous views of the great Smoky Mountains.Although the views are stunning, it’s the same view you get from Newfoundland gap parking lot. So, go hiking because it is a wonderful hike. Don’t go because you expect to see some views you can’t see elsewhere.

The views are beautiful. Parking was easy.

It’s been snowing all week and the full hike (from beginning of Denny Creek rd) was just beautiful. The falls were half way frozen and it was great to experience. I went alone so it was nice to see a decent amount of people there.

Too crowded from all the visitors but great trail

Great scenery, great hiking, beautiful weather. The reason not 5 Stars was because of the snow covering the trail and in some places it was solid ice. Recommend some spikes or chains for your feet. Other than that is was a great day

My birthday hike! A crisp 32 degrees in the morning! Snow and ice after the footbridge made for a interesting trip back down from the falls. Temps warmed up enough to thaw out the froze mud which made it as slick as the snow and ice! Loved it!

Great location to take our dogs, friendly people and the mountains looked beautiful.

We started the trail while snow was still falling and it was around 25-28 degree outside. I couldn’t believe we climbed up for 1,000ft from trailhead to rainbow. It didn’t seem to be that much to me though. It was very slippery and frozen in last mile. We had to crawl over the big rocks to get up to the fall. Bring spikes if you have them. They will help a lot in the icy condition. When snow was melting, trail got super muddy. I got hiking shoes so it didn’t bother me much. People going with me in sneakers was struggling little bit. Overall, the fall wasn’t that impressive to me but the surroundings along the trail is fun and beautiful.

Loved this hike, but was VERY crowded even in Mid-May.

I parked at Maloney point and walked over to laurel falls trail head. The views at Maloney did not disappoint.
There is a great bench w with a view on Laurel trail at point seven, or as the trail turns roughly northwest. Good place to have a sandwich and take in the beauty of this trail. However, the some of the best views of the landscape are between points 8 and 9.

Did this trail May and October 2017. Starting from Sugarland Visitor Center's left side to Park Headquarters then across and to the left on Park Headquarters Rd. NOT comfortable (road) on this part, NO walkway over road bridge!! Only (TN side) trail that allows dogs.

Many flowers, strong walk bridge over Pigeon River. there is a short off trail path to the Smoky Mountain sign for photos. There is a square post you can place your camera, set timer for photos!

There are sections (before walk bridge) where you can see how close the Nov 2016 fire got to the trail.

If the tower (knew it was closed) was open a 4 Star. Used the Dome pathway as a start for my hike to Andrews Bald. Up to the tower base, across the short section of the AT and down the Dome bypass to Forney Trail.

The reward of the Dome pathway is the VIEWS coming (4 Star) back!!!!!! Even the views from the parking lot are 4 Star!!!!!!

did this trail may of 2017, loved it a little difficult, but really fun. On the way down saw three deer on the trail and almost could reach out and touch them, they were standing that close it was awesome

This was a great trail would definitely recommend it.

Beautiful trail. Some areas have big rocks that you have to sit and swing around to get over. If it’s a dry season the waterfall will only be a trickle with no rainbow.

Roads were closed on both sides. Ended up hiking a total of 8 gorgeous miles today. The wagon trail is not open, don't take that as a loop back as one of the signs suggests... you'll end up walking through very deep snow. TAKE ICE CLEATS! The whole main trail is compacted snow and ice. One hiker slid down the hill at the falls today but was able to get back up. The trail right at the water fall is steep and icy, be extremely cautious. GORGEOUS hike though!!!

I’ve done this hike without snow & ice & its totally different. Still a great hike, but icy/snowy & slippery in spots. Especially past the base of Vernal Falls. See pics :)

Nice trail even in winter. Yosemite in March is awesome.
