Classic Wisconsin ridge hike. Through some woods and prairie and along a bluff overlooking farmland.

Amazing views!

Definitely pack smart for this hike. Bring snacks and lots of water. The elevation changes and rocky terrain make this hike challenging! For a great view and less exhaustion, start the trail by the old mine shaft (picnic area). It cuts the hike in about half for those, like myself, without hiking poles or tough footwear.

This trail is awesome. Some sections have loose rock but it’s not exceedingly challenging. Bring lots of water and if you have trekking poles, bring them. Great views. Would love to go again at sunrise/sunset.

awesome so many views and it was so much fun but it was not moderate

Great multi-generational hike, plus our dog was in his element. Easy-moderate hike. Very lovely falls and forest.

Easy access trail with a beautiful waterfall at the end!

One of my favorite hiking trails in the Porkies. Beautiful views and nice up and down hills to keep it interesting. I carried my son in a hiking pack on this trail today and found it challenging but not impossible. The trail was damp after raining most of the morning, but even with a heavy pack it was passable and the virgin forest is so worth it.

This trail is rated as moderate? I would say closer to difficult. Well worth the hike. Unbelievable views. No need to go further than two miles in though. But definitely get to the first bluff, which is just shy of two miles. About 1586 ft elevation.

Amazing trail. Recommend starting on the east side of the trail and hiking west, incredible views of lake of the clouds about halfway in, and we decided to hike back from there! Probably on the more difficult side of moderate if you take this way, lots of elevation changes (but WELL worth it!)

Better the further you hike. Beautiful views. Beautiful forest sections between lookouts.

This is a great trail. Beautiful vistas as you near Lake of the Clouds. We did this in under 4 hours. We had to stop for wild blueberries throughout. Mid July. This is a stunner not to be missed.

Great hike with beautiful views. I think it was a little closer to 7 miles but still great. Once you get to bear lake, you can choose to take a different trail back or you can take the same trail. It is the same distance either way. We chose to do out and back on the same trail. I would recommend bringing a lunch with on this hike if you don’t plan to spend the night. When you factor in taking pictures, lunch and a few short breaks along the way, this hike took us about 5 hours total. If it’s hot out bring lots of water. Overall, this is the coolest hike I have done on the north shore. Would absolutely recommend.

The views were amazing. The lakes are crystal clear. This trail is a high moderate or a low difficult. There are a lot of elevation gain and decent, rocks, and muddy trails.

We repeat - rugged not tough! Worth hiking to the overlook at Bear Lake. You won’t be disappointed. Rocky - wear good shoes. It was dry for us, but other times of the year it looks like a lot of mud. A “can’t miss” in the area for anyone who loves a good trail.

Lovely well maintained trail to the magical Lost Creek Falls. Pretty easy overall, a bit steep for the last 1/4 miles to/from the falls. I live nearby and hike it probably 4/5 times per month.

Amazing hike! Beautiful nature walk all the way up to the view of Bean Lake. The view of Bean Lake was SPECTACULAR. Very beautiful, with plenty of spots to stop and take it all in. If you continue to Bear Lake there is a nice spot to check out right on the water, where you could swim if you wanted. There were quite a few muddy spots, like others mentioned but it was doable. We wore tennis shoes, which was fine but you’d have no problem if you are wearing hiking boots. Definitely recommend this hike!

Skip the hike you were thinking about and hit this one instead. Rugged but not tough.

Great trail! Secluded with nice views of Big Carp River/Lake of the Clouds.

Great hike with amazing views at the end. We went at the beginning of June and when we decided to go all the way down by the waters edge of Bear lake, there were quite a few gardener snakes (like 8-10 in one small area), just a little helpful FYI for anyone who is particularly afraid of snakes.

Beautiful place to visit in the fall. Easy hike.

The most beautiful trail in the park. If there's one thing you do in the Porkies, it has to be the Escarpment. Especially beautiful during sunrise and sunset over the Lake of the Clouds. You won't be disappointed!

Wonderful hike, great views and and nice little camp by Bear Lake. Been here a few times, winter camp here is extraordinary.

Fantastic views the whole trail! I would say it’s on the harder side of moderate but totally worth it!

Modérate hike with wonderful views. Spring sun was wonderful

Beautiful Early Spring Hike. Trails were muddy or icy, but gorgeous. Air was brisk. Perfect day with wife, son and dog.

Incredible view of the lakes! Awesome hike.

Amazing views and great way to spend a day or overnight.
