Great walking trail. My dog and I love this trail. Everyone is relatively respectful of each and friendly. I just wish people would pick up their dog poop.

can be slippery in spots and muddy. Just depends on what time of year you go.
You can walk under the waterfall. If you dont want to get soaked from the mist of the falls, make sure you are wearing rain gear. Fun place to cool down in the summer

Beautiful! You are able to get very close to this waterfall. It’s kid friendly, and dog friendly. It does get super cold the closer you get to the waterfall. There’s a small cave near the waterfall to see as well. Some areas are muddy. Definitely watch your step so you don’t fall.

This is an easy family friendly trail for year round use.

We really enjoyed this trail. First hike of 2019 and we needed an easy trail to start out with. Great picture opportunity along the way.

Great paved walk. Flat and easy.

We like this hike but it’s easy to get lost!

I did my first mountain bike here this afternoon. And it was awesome. Fairly easy trail but lots of fun. I went up to the falls day picnic area and turned around which is under 5 miles. Need to yield with peds and horseback riders but everyone has food etiquette and friendly. I plan to do the trail again and go even further.

Great trail year-round. Our pups loved it. We found it more enjoyable during low tide so we could walk out on the beach. You can hear the sea lions over on a small island not too far away. We will be back!

Well maintained trail, nice leisure walk. Great views of puget sound at the bottom! Well worth it.

Always my favorite little jaunt when I want to get out of olympia, but don’t have the time to go too far. It holds its beauty year round!

Great for choosing your own adventure. Lots of berries during the appropriate seasons too.

Great trail for little ones. Good for a quick relaxing stroll through the woods and cool ending at the beach.

My spouse, two dogs and I hiked this trail two days after Christmas. It was peaceful and quiet. This was our first hike in the Capitol State Forest, which came highly recommended by a mentor and colleague of mine. A first was our hiking through deforestation; it appears the loggers in this area “cleaned up” the region far better than I have seen elsewhere. It was good to see the state or had undergone a vast replanting effort in the deforested sections of the park. This trail gives you an up close view of the beauty of forested land, mountain lookouts, deforestation, and reforestation (if that’s a word). You’ll enjoy this hike.

Easy for family

Awesome place to take kids just be careful in some areas.

Beautiful trail! It was a great first trail here in Washington and I look forward to many more. Once you get to the water enjoy the seals popping out to say their hellos!!

It’s a really beautiful trail. Great for an easy walk with kids or dogs. I would have given 5 stars, but the gunfire really is what ruins the ambiance. Nothing against guns, but they’re just not what you’re looking to hear when you’re going for a walk in the woods (or at least we aren’t). Otherwise it’s awesome.

this waterfall is so powerful. A beautiful exhibit of nature.

Great day for a hike. Windy but not too muddy. Trail was not too crowded

love this place!

Nice trail for all ages. We walk our dogs and bike on the trail. It is easy entry and is relaxing.

Easy trail. Very pretty.

Cold in the winter, lots of shade, as you are walking down a gully to the sound. But nice wide trail more of a road. Lot of dogs. Beautiful views at the water.

You need to find a stone graffitied “falls” and veer off the main road to the left to find the yellow diamonds trail to upper and lower falls, goodluck! To enter the trail we went over a white hurdle, continues by the lake and up towards your right, immediate left turn to the “do not enter” (referring to vehicles) kind of tricky but WORTH IT!

The hike was not bad over all. Not very well marked on the trail which ways to go. There are several residents that live in the area. It wasn't muddy or too cold. The view of the waterfall wasn't too impressive as I had hoped.
