We did this hike on Saturday, November 8th, and it was perfect! Trail conditions were great, there was no snow or ice, and the ropes at the top were all intact. The hike itself is steep, but not that long, so if you're in any kind of decent shape, you'll be fine, just take a few breaks along the way. Absolutely stunning views at the top!

Easy hike with great views. Go early - before 8am for least crowds, good light and a run.

Super fun trail run. Big beautiful old growth trees and well groomed pathways. Perfect family or relaxing trails. Make sure to take the detour to the Crescent Lake Lodge!

Such a beautiful hike once you get to the top and completely rewarding. I would not recommend doing this hike alone. The start of the hike was a bit intimidating at first because it was pretty straight up hill, however it did level out a bit to a steady incline until you get to the rock climbing portion at the top. For my girlfriends and I it was a one time hike mostly because on the way down the rock the rope snapped, so defiantly approach the rope with come caution.

Hiked on 11/18/18 and didn't make it to the summit. There was a little too much ice on the trail for my comfort, even with spikes. Still a gorgeous hike though, especially along the ridge! There'll probably be snow up here come next weekend so come prepared with spikes at the very least. I did this trail earlier this summer and the snow probably won't clear until late June/early July.

Easy, pretty well maintained hiking trail. I went with my 60+ year old parents (who are relatively healthy but certainly not big adventurers) and they were okay. Overall an enjoyable experience

Beautiful November day for the hike. Well maintained trail and easy to follow signs and paths. A couple steep drop offs at the top but still manageable for peeps afraid of heights. Rope portion is not treacherous, just a little slippery if you have shoes with bad traction. View from the top is unbeatable. Definitely the most rewarding hike at Lake Crescent.

Incredibly simple trail down to a beautiful waterfall. A bit crowded due to the ease, but would still highly recommend because the waterfall it’s an atypical one.

Cool experience but the last part up to the false summit is not for the faint of heart with the ropes. We did it first thing in the morning so luckily my wife’s slow descent didn’t really get in anyone’s way but I could totally see there being some bottlenecks during more peak times. Great views from the top but I do believe we passed a few people who we never saw at the top so the ropes might have scared them off.

Super short and easy, but very pretty waterfall with a little area to relax and enjoy the view after we did some more strenuous hikes in the morning.

Added on after hiking Mt Storm King and it was a pretty lackluster waterfall compared to others in the area. Trail was crowded due to being an easier hike.

This is a great trail to just take in views of the surrounding areas. Although there were definitely others when we went around mid morning on a Sunday, it didn’t really feel too crowded. You are definitely climbing a little but there is nothing too steep. The path is wide and even, which makes it easier. The views of the surrounding mountains and of the water are spectacular. You have many opportunities along the trail to see so many beautiful things. Would definitely do this again and definitely do it mid morning or earlier since it looked like it got cloudier as the day progressed.

Hiked the Sand Point trail as an out and back. Wanted to do the entire loop but it was raining pretty heavily, high tide had come in and the presence of a mama bear and her cubs down the beach where we were going to go also made us reconsider. No matter. This trail is absolutely gorgeous and has everything. Majestic forests with towering trees, ferns blanketing the forest floor, ocean views. It is an extremely easy trail as it is an improved path and/or boardwalks all throughout. In the rain though, the boardwalk gets slick so use caution when walking (I even fell once walking slightly too fast). We definitely want to come back and do the Cape Alava Trail and then explore the beach at low tide. It’s kind of hard to get to as the roads are windy and there’s pretty much nothing else out that way but I recommend anyone to make the special trip.

Nice easy trail. Loved the waterfall. Seeing it up close lets your really feel the magnitude of it.

Well maintained easy trail with some steep steps nearing the top of the waterfall, signs say no dogs allowed but the ranger seemed happy to look the other way when we walked by with our dog on leash.

Backpacked out here on 10/26, hiked in on the Cape Alava trail, then South along the beach. This is much easier to do at low tide! Be aware as of that day there is a mother black bear with two cubs who doesn't seem to be terribly afraid of humans. It's a beautiful flat trail with wonderful views of rock formations and the opportunity to see Petroglyphs. I'll definitely be back.

great easy hike.

Terrific views of majestic mountain ranges along most of the trail. Worth the 17-mile winding road up.

This hike was my first introduction to the Olympics - WOW! So much to see all the way to the falls. Easy to extend your hike by taking one of the three trails that start just past the falls, which are far less crowded.

Walked the first mile to Devil’s Punchbowl. Gorgeous when you get there and well worth the walk, but otherwise a lackluster hike on gravel.

I personally didn’t like this trail that much. You have good views all the way along and there’s no better view when going to the top. The last bit of the track is tiny and very slippery because of loose stones. We didn’t find the right track in the end and also didn’t had a view from the top.

The middle section of this spectacular trail hugs the coastline and is dotted with hundreds of tide pools. There’s so much to explore that the hike ended up taking longer than anticipated.

A strenuous hike but the views of lake crescent from the top are worth it. Beware the snack stealing warblers.

Great climb! Loved the steep at the very top and views were amazing.

Beautiful views from the beginning. I felt a little guilty I drove up the mountain to get to this trailhead at the top- I like
hiking the whole mountain for the payoff- but drive provided beautiful views. Saw deer and lots of sweeping vistas. Easy hike, lots of views.

We started this hike after turning left onto the trail around 7:30am, it ended up being a perfect day with the sun out. the trail was easy to figure out, a good amount of switchbacks which leads to a rock scramble and i think 3 rope areas to climb up. I would not put your full weight on the rope, one of the ropes were pretty sketchy because it looked frayed and was tied to a very small bush. we ended up going to the "false summit" instead. This is the one where you can see over lake crescent and sit or stand on a rock ledge. The true summit was far too steep for us to handle as a normal day hike, it looked a bit more technical.
In all it took about 2.5 hours to summit and back to trail head. we ended up taking a detour to check out the falls which are like an additional .5 miles away after we hiked storm king.

Really pretty views the whole way up! The last 0.75mi up was about a 1000ft elevation gain. Climbed around the rocks at the top past where the trail technically ended. Lots of loose gravel at this point but managed to get to the top which had great views. Clocked 6mi total in 3 hours.

So gorgeous. Try to go on a sunny day to see just how crystal blue the water is!

Continue past the falls on the trail for little to no crowds and absolute serenity in the forest. That was my favorite part; this place is magical.

insanely beautiful with wild orange mushrooms to one serine log cabin off off to the side of the trail. easy peasy
