lots of steps but short path, we all liked it, good for families

The Gorge Overlook was a pleasant, easy trail. It gets crowded by Old Man’s Cave. Recommend to go early morning to beat the crowds.

Easy hike. The falls are really pretty. Good for all skill levels. We combined this with a number of other trails of varying difficulty today and this leg was definitely a highlight. It can get crowded starting mid morning on the weekend.

We hiked on Tues., Oct. 9th, 10:30a.m. Great trail, but not easy. Hiked Cedar Falls to Rose Lake, to Old Man’s Cave, then Whispering Falls and finished at the entrance to Cedar. 7 mile loop total, and the signs stating the distances between aren’t accurate. Took longer than expected, but there are a lot of roots to navigate your footing on so you don’t twist an ankle. Some muddy and washed out narrow trail spots, and some rock scrambling, but if you take your time and be careful, you’re good. We took our pup and she was able to handle it, but it may be too much for an older/arthritic dog. Beautiful and peaceful for almost the whole hike. Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls can be quite busy at times since they are short hikes in from the parking lots.

As other have mentioned, the distance is more like 12 than 10. The south loop from Old Man’s Cave to Cedar Falls was the most scenic and only one small section would I classify as “hard” — otherwise the trail is easy to moderate throughout. Most of the trail is a wide gravel trail with easy ups and downs.

Went with my wife. It was beautiful and able to get great shots.

Nice trail with great views! Marked wonderfully.

Fun trail! Very confusing to get to the falls but hike back was super easy! You do cross the creek and can be slippery, highly recommend waterproof hiking boots with great traction.

I enjoyed this route. we ended up hiking down the stream most of the way and made this a loop by finding a rdige trail that met up with the buckeye trail to get back to blue hen. was a lovely hike.

Easy hike! Great for an afternoon away!

Intense trail! Lots of hills and can be a bit muddy. Definently a workout. I started at the top of kendall hills and made my way down to the loop which is 3.15 miles. Tends to line the road a bit but the road isn't very busy. Recommend if you want a workout. Took me and my dog about an hour walking at a moderate pace. There is also a short cut to make it a bit shorter.

10 loops is about 10 miles. Good exercise for a city park.

Go beyond the end of trail sign and check out buttermilk falls... The trail isn't hard but it's full of roots and several stream crossing but easy to find your way. So much fun and the dogs love it because they have to think as well. Worth the adventure

Just discovered this trail yesterday after work. This has to be one of the best kept secrets in the park. Very well maintained trail. Beautiful scenery. I loved taking a walk down the Hemlock ridge ravine. This is one of my new top 10 running trails. I will definitely be back with friends.

Perfect weather today for the start of Fall! Knocked out 5.2 miles in 1 hour 28 minutes hiking. Met an awesome couple on Hemlock Ridge. One of my Top 10 favorite trails in the area.

Good workout! Lots of great incline.

Great scenic hike! Added in Sylvan Pond and Hemlock Ridge 6 miles but not difficult. Highly recommended.

The gorge trail was amazing. It was like walking through the movie set for Lord of the Rings!

Love this route. I do a winter hike here every year!

I like this trail and always extend it by taking the trail to Stanford House. The hike offers water views, the opportunity to get in the river, and when you head to Stanford House you go through a nice meadow as well. From Stanford House you can easily access the Tow Path and head down to Boston to hit the visitors center and park shop. I like to grab a snack and sit on the porch of the visitors center as a break before heading back.

This one always kicks my butt! Several hills and steps in this one, so if you’re looking for a cardio intensive hike, this is for you. Heavily used by trail runners as well.
