This was my first time going off road in my new TRD Pro 4Runner. It was a beautiful drive, a littlr dusty. I ended up taking a side trail that was pretty difficult but the 4Runner took everything like a champ. When I got off this side trail I got lost and I couldnt make it back on without a spotter. I just drove around for hours and finally found pavement. I will be coming back soon.

This trail / rough road was fun to explore. We kept finding ouselves on other roads because we did not have the map zoomed in enough. There are lots of roads and trails to explore connected to this trail. We did not find anything that a stock 4x4 could not handle. Make sure to download the map because there is no cell service.

Just a dirt road that's poorly marked.

A lovely hike above New Hogan. There is no shade- must be prepared. The dog loved it though, and got to roam free since we were the only ones there on this lovely winter day.

Is this trail open in winter?

The trail was closed

I drove this trail with a stock 2017 Chevrolet Colorado 4X4 (non-Z71) V6 and it was easy and fun and had no problems. The view is amazing too. I also drove other trails nearby in Darlington California which were also pretty simple with some trails being more bumpy in tougher. This was my first offroad adventure and wont be my last. I will eventually lift this truck to go through the tougher routes. If you are new to offroading or want a simple offroading experience then this a great trail.

Great trail. fairly easy. great first time trail.

Today I went up to check out the hike...fully prepared. My dog in tow. we had water, snacks. Started out at 945 a.m. and it quickly became hot. we walked near the water and the rocky terrain for an hour and called it quits. great scenery and nature atmosphere. Loved it.

I went here with my folks and we only did half and then headed back. I really only came here because of the length, the nearness to my home, and because dogs are allowed on this trail. There were some pretty moments as the sun came up on the water, but I won't be returning. The views just aren't my type of thing. Their is very little shade. The entirety of the trail is littered with rocks. The overgrown brush surrounding the trail is a tad frightening because it is hard to see through all the bramble, who knows what will pop out? Bunnies, rattlers, or mountain lion?

I love this trail because it's one of the very few trails that allows dogs! The trail runs through the bushes which can block the views of the lake at some points, but they do provide some welcomed shade when needed. It's also nice that the bikers are on one path and hikers on another. CAUTION: be weary of rattlesnakes, especially as the weather begins to warm up!

Thick brush but pretty views of the lake. Other than that there is a lot of just walking through the brush and we found the trail markers and signs around the park to be unhelpful in finding your way.

I'm a local and everyone knows this trail as "Low Water Bridge" it's an awesome trail that was used back in the old days before hwy 16 connected to hwy 20. The gate is locked and closed to cars, trucks and side by sides BUT it is open to dirtbikes and atvs (just drive around the gate between the posts). Be sure to have your bike registered because sometimes you will run into sheriffs patrolling the trail (very rare but it does happen). If you are a beginner just take it easy because the hills getting steeper and steeper the farther you go. Overall one of my favorite trails to go ride and see some amazing views.

The directions that transferred to google maps didn't take me to a trail at all. The drive was gorgeous, but I didn't get to got for a hike.

Rode with my husband today, and really enjoyed the ride. Didn't get to complete the entire ride, due to flat tire before ride this morning. Flowers were in bloom & views around lake were so beautiful. Got a little warm, don't think it would be a ride I'd want to do in summer.

This was a great trail to go mountain biking on. Actually got a little lost at first but figured it out when I found a fence line to follow. If you haven't checked it out I would recommend you do so.

Great trail!! Easy medium and hard!! Depending on what route you take. Very pretty views. Drive takes a while for you to start to really hit the heart of it. So make sure to fill up on gas before going. Take a buddy to double the fun.

Nice trail if you are in the area. If you go late spring or early summer start at the top, as you may get blocked by snow, even if it looks clear from the bottom! Be prepared to move or go over fallen trees, as clean-up of this trail is not anyone's #1 priority. There are a few good views of the Crystal range, but mostly you see trees and dust. Any high clearance vehicle would be fine, 4WD would be nice on a few spots, but not required.
This would be a great trail for a first time 4WD trip for anyone looking to get into 4 wheeling, just go mid to late summer, so the path will be clear.

Also Known as Coyote and Hogans Trail. Intermediate and advanced trails. Trailhead begins at North East most camp ground. Follows along lake for about 5 miles. Out and back not a loop trail. Rocky terrain very little cover so can be very hot trail. Watch for snakes along trail. Fun rolling single track.

More of a mountain biking trail. You'll see a walker/hiker now and then but trail is mostly used for biking. Great spot to camp and bike around lake. All, if not, most of the trail is exposed so it is really dry & hot in summer. Used to come for walks during dusk.

This trail has many options for all skill levels. The trail length depends on the route you choose and how well you know the area. Most trails will lead back to the same starting point with the exception of a few near the east side. This trail is mostly sharp granite and drains well. It can be ridden almost anytime of the year. The summer can be rough due to extreme heat, no shade, and rattle snakes. Long sleeve is recommended because parts of the trail can be a little overgrown near chest height.
