Most strenuous hike I've ever done. Ran out of water the last 3 hours downhill so definitely have plenty of water and then some. Still a great experience.

HikingGreat!

Very satisfying state high point. Hiked it in early September when the snow was clear. Very popular trail, people had dogs with them, no idea what they do on COR. Must be really tough dogs (poor paws!) I was glad I was in good shape, made the relentless ascent enjoyable. I didn’t find COR to be as scary as its billing.

Hiked this trail back in August. One of the toughest hikes I’ve ever been on, but sooooo worth the strenuous ascent. The rock scramble was tough, but taking it very slow allowed me to make it across. Be prepared for the fact that this trail doesn’t have any flat ascent, but is completely uphill the whole time. Pack extra water.

This is a steep hike but very rewarding at the top! Chicken out ridge wasn't as bad as I was expecting but you'll want to take it slow and be careful.

Chicken out ridge is no joke but if you stay confident you can make it. Don’t try to go around it, up and over is your best bet. Trekking poles will really save your knees on the way down. View is worth every agonizing step.

Stunning views and a strenuous hike. COR is no joke but also manageable as long as you don’t let it defeat your mind. Entire hike works the legs hard, especially the final push. Thank you to whoever installed the rope.

Completed Sunday, October 4th, bluebird day, not a cloud in the sky all day. Stats, 5.5 hours to summit, 3 hours to descend, 8.5 hours total, actual distance is 8.2 miles round trip. Zero snow at Chicken out Ridge, perfect mountain fix, no guts, no glory.

Awesome trail. Probably the hardest trail under 10 miles I've ever done. We hiked this Friday Oct 3rd. Hardly any snow to contend with so leave the spikes in your car. My brother and I had the summit all to ourselves.

Did this one two weeks ago and it was a great time to do it. No snow. We logged more lily 9.5 miles total, so I guess it depends on where you go. I loved chicken out ridge, and I’m not a professional climber. It wasn’t too difficult and plenty of people to tell you where to go or where not to go. The rest was brutal. Straight up. For hours. Straight down for hours. Trekking poles really save me.

Pretty sure this was the first snow summit of the season. Lots turned back at COR due to snow and ice. Made it through just fine with crampons.

It is a great hike but if you have never done it before it is a good idea to go with someone who has to navigate COR. It is not technically difficult but it is mind challenge. The down hill is the hardest part.

HikingGreat!

The trail was well marked and according to our Apple watches the mileage was closer to 9. We hiked it without trekking poles and were just fine. Lose gravel and dirt made the descent more difficult that anticipated, but the views were worth the effort. Wonderful little day hike. Expect sore knees.

really good workout! just be ready to climb. path is pretty much clear the whole way minus a small section on COR, going down was the worst part
