Used spikes the hole trip and had no difficulty. The deepest part of the gorge is closed off but there are cute covered bridges that make the trip worth seeing. Trail was easily navigated

Easily the best effort-to-payoff experience we've had. We went during winter so we didn't have to pay and there were not a lot of other people around. The park is not maintained during the winter, so the snow on the paths isn't shoveled and there are no rangers patrolling. Be careful on the wooden paths as these can get very slippery.

I've been herw many times. Gorgeous things to see. Lots of people and heavily maintained.

Great trail for all ages. We enjoyed the winter view!

Completed this as a winter hike. Little bitter rougher hike with snow on the ground. Did the hike in regular boots with "Stabil" slip on traction from L.L. Bean ($26/each). Hike length is correct about 1.4 miles from trail head. The hike was moderate. Great view of the frozen falls at the end. The trip was definitely initely worth the pay off.

Beautiful trail along the gorge. More for sightseeing then hiking

So a friend, me and her toddler (he was carried, lol) did this hike Oct 7. The Bemis portion is beautiful, the only thing is to meet back up with the Arethusa trail it’s pretty much straight up. We managed, but be forewarned to avoid the Bemis section unless you want to 1) back track or 2) climb. The falls are gorgeous and the trails were well kept. I’d love to do it again after the winter thaw.

We took Bemis Trail (yellow) up and stopped at some amazing smaller which was pools and falls. The Bemis Trail is about .5 miles long. The one thing to consider is when Bemis joins back to the Arethusa Trail (blue) it is a STRAIGHT up using your hands at times to meet back up with the Arethusa Trail.
We did it with our 9 year old and this was the only portion he complained about.
The falls were well worth the hike. I could have stayed all day.
Note: If you are looking at hiking this in the November+ days at least microspikes are recommended.
The map shown on this page is just the Arethusa Trail, it does not show the red on Bemis.

Great place to enjoy fall foliage colors. It is very crowded during peak fall foliage and the ticket line could take 1 hr, but it is worth the wait. Pathways are well maintained.

This was a challenging hike as it was our second moderate one of the day but it was very rewarding at the end. The falls are breathtaking and can not be captured with a photo! Not a a lot of room to spread out and relax at the falls but it wasn’t crowded when we went and we were able to relax and enjoy the view for a while. We had a small dog with us and he had no trouble on the hike.

As expected - a perfect place to enjoy the foliage! Gorgeous views and waterfalls, and the wooden decks are very well maintained! But note that this place is super popular in the fall and prepare to stand in the line for approx.30mins to buy tickets, unfortunately you can’t buy them online. But the trail is definitely worth the wait, you will love it!

Gorgeous fall color and waterfalls.

awesome trail not hard at all easy hike

Did the trail today with my husband today. Not a bad hike and the gals were beautiful today. Worth the hike.

This is a decent moderate hike. Starts out gradually with a decent incline, as you hear the stream on your left. Eventually it will level off a bit before another incline. As you approach the destination (The falls), you actually descend. It's been a relatively wet week, so there were muddy stretches.
Overall it is a nice short hike, and the falls at the end are beautiful, however the trail is very busy. Too busy in my opinion. Perhaps it was because of the long holiday weekend.

it's a nice and easy trail to hike, perfect for all ages. the fall foliage is spectacular. 16$ seems a bit expensive though, considering there are plenty of beautiful and free hikes around the area.

totally worth the hike!

Love this trail. It’s probably out 10th time over the years. Easy, beautiful and peaceful.

Very Enjoyable hike up via Bemis Brook Trail and down Arethusa Falls Trail. Truly an awesome piece of nature. Make sure to stop along the many pools and falls along the Bemis Brook Trail.

Loved this hike. perfect shorter hike on a beautiful late summer day. 80, low humidity. Up Arethusa trail. (1hour including walk from lower lot on the road). Some nice climbs with differing terrain. There are a few high steps. Falls are gorgeous and definitely offered a reward for the trip.
Came back via Bemis Brook trail. The "trail" that connects the two was interesting. Very steep and mostly comprised of tree roots and pine needles. A little hairy of a descent. I was grateful for my trekking poles.
It might feel safer to climb rather than descend. Fortunately, conditions were dry so the footng was firm.
The lower falls were definitely worth seeing.
Excellent day in the woods. I would hike these trails again.

The hike itself is pretty in spots but I don't think it's worth paying for. It's a very easy walk with very minimal elevation gain and is heavily traveled so expect to wait behind people on the boardwalk.

Very easy hike, the views are amazing. Well worth the money

the hike was really nice and easy, the views are gorgeous. i will most likely vist again if i ever pass there.

Surprisingly challenging for a short hike. Loved that you can splash around in the assorted falls along the trail.

We took the Bemis Brook Trail to the Arethusa Falls. This trail had great views, a good mix of climb and flat areas. The climb connecting the Bemis trail back to the main Arethusa is challenging so for those who are not experienced hikers could have a harder time. If you have any kind of hiking poles I would recommend taking them. The Arethusa Falls are amazing and in my opinion on the level of some I've seen in Hawaii. Bring a lunch or a snack and enjoy a moment at the falls.

Much better than expected, I thought it was going to be a crowded tourist trap but The Flume was actually pretty spectacular. The boardwalk goes right through the middle of it, giving you a unique perspective of these amazing waterfalls. Most people turn around at The Flume, but I did the full loop to Liberty Gorge and Cascade which was also beautiful. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area. The trails also are very well maintained and well marked. Although the one downside is the $16 dollar entry fee for adults.

Beautiful walk through the gorge. The scenery is amazing. The incline is not terrible since your climbing stairs and boardwalk. Theres a shuttle part of the way up for those not inclined to walk. The temps ate cooler down in the gorge. Great family walk. Id rate it as moderate. Bit pricey for the duration but worth the views and time spent in gorge. Also has goft shop and restrooms at entrance
